BJP slams Congress over X poster of ‘missing' PM
The BJP Tuesday targeted the Congress over a social media poster, later deleted, that depicted PM Narendra Modi as 'missing' from action in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. The poster on the Congress's X handle, captioned 'zimmedari ke samay Gayab (missing at a time of taking responsibility)', showed a pair of kurta-pyjamas and footwear without the PM's body. This prompted the BJP to claim in a post on X: 'Congress flaunts a headless kurta to echo the extremist 'Sar Tan Se Juda' slogan, exposing its continuous slide into Muslim League 2.0 — divisive, desperate, and directionless. Now that PM Shri @narendramodi has spoken the only language Pakistan understands, Islamabad's official handles are parroting the same beheading cry, laying bare their jihadist creed.' The Congress handle deleted the post after the row flared up. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh asked the Congress if it had become 'a PR wing' for Pakistan. 'In moments of national pain, Congress turns into a party of a hundred voices, each more disconnected from national interest than the last. The question now is simple – whose side is the Congress on?' BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, dubbing the party 'Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress', alleged that it was under the direction of Rahul Gandhi that 'certain posts are made, posts that not only shame the nation but also deeply hurt its people'. 'This is part of Congress' attempt to weaken India at a critical time and send signals to Pakistan… The ideology of 'Sar tan se juda' reflects not only Pakistan's mindset but also aligns with that of the Congress,' he said.

BJP sees ‘sar tan se juda' imagery in Congress's ‘gayab' dig at PM, calls it a signal to Pakistan
Former Pakistan minister Fawad Ahmed Hussain Chaudhry shared the post, saying, 'Ooops, had heard about missing horns from the donkey's head, but here, Modi has gone missing:) #NaughtyCongress.' In a post on X, Congress put up an image of clothes but no body, with the caption, ' Jimmedariyo ke samay – Gayab (At the time of responsibility – invisible)'. Though it did not name the PM, the post came on the heels of the party questioning the absence of Modi at the all-party meeting on the Pahalgam terror attack for a briefing of all leaders. New Delhi: A political controversy broke out Tuesday as the Bharatiya Janata Party came down heavily on the Congress for its 'Gayab (invisible)' post, aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post used 'sar tan se juda (decapitation)' symbolism to provoke communal tension, the BJP has alleged. Addressing a press conference Tuesday, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia attacked the Congress over the post, saying, 'There is an Indian political party, which is a national party, but it would not be wrong to call it Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress.' 'I am saying this with a heavy heart. This picture was posted by a verified handle of the Congress, giving a big signal to the enemy country, Pakistan. 'Sar tan se juda' has become characteristic of Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress,' Bhatia said, highlighting that the thinking of Congress was like that of a terrorist outfit. Bhatia said the Congress was giving a signal to Pakistan post-the terror attack that the party stands with Pakistan and not with its nation. 'This is not an innocent post by the Congress party. It is a sinister, poisonous design trying to weaken the integrity of our nation and target the PM of the country,' he added. The BJP leader said that Pakistan was using such posts to target India, stressing that PM Modi has sent a clear message to Pakistan. BJP leader Amit Malviya described the X post as a political statement and a 'dog whistle' aimed at the Congress's 'Muslim vote bank'. 'The Congress leaves little doubt with its use of 'sar tan se juda' imagery. This is not merely a political statement.' Calling the post 'a veiled incitement against the Prime Minister', Malviya said, 'It is not the first time the Congress has resorted to such tactics. Rahul Gandhi, on multiple occasions, has both instigated and justified violence towards the Prime Minister.' 'Yet the Congress will never succeed, for the Prime Minister enjoys the love and blessings of millions of Indians. On the contrary, proverbially speaking, if the neck of anyone was slashed, it was the neck of Congress—now reduced to a headless hydra, flailing without direction,' Malviya added. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene a special session of Parliament on the Pahalgam terror attack. Reacting to the BJP leaders' statements on the 'Gayab' post, senior Congress leader and MP Jairam Ramesh said, 'PM Modi was not present at the all-party meeting. We demanded, on 22 April, an all-party meeting on the issue. PM Modi should participate in the discussion [on the terror attack] in Parliament and tell us what happened and how it took place. There is no political agenda. The Congress has only one formula—Unity.' 'Supporting Pakistan...': Congress's 'Gayab' Jibe At PM Modi Makes Unity Mask Vanish In Massive Row
Last Updated: The controversy over 'gayab' poster got murkier when BJP held a press conference and elaborated on the "sar tan se juda ideology of Lashkar-e-Pakistan (Congress)". The Congress' gayab or missing poster aimed to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Pahalgam terror attack backfired hours after the party released it on its social media handles on Tuesday. From former Pakistani minister's reaction raising eyebrows to drawing parallel to calls of ' sar tan se juda ' during Nupur Sharma's controversy — the Congress post drew sharp reaction. Leaders said that at a time when all need to be united on stand of Pahalgam terror attack, the Congress is being 'influenced by Pakistan". In the immediate aftermath of the strike, the Opposition's response has been measured. The political parties have been walking the fine line of offering unconditional backing to the government in whatever action it took against the perpetrators and their handlers — even as they subtly flagged intelligence and security lapses. The Congress leaders, however, have been giving statements that forced the grand old party to issue a gag order. While BJP leaders had been lashing out at Congress since morning, a reaction from the central government came when Chirag Paswan reacted. Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, said, 'This is wrong. This is a very sensitive issue and it is the responsibility of the opposition to understand the sensitivity of the issue. It is the need of the hour to show seriousness, as shown by J&K CM Omar Abdullah in the Assembly. If parties like the Congress do politics on it, this is not good." Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, delivering his first speech in the House since the attack, said, 'For the first time in many years, I witnessed protests that were truly unified. No political party or leader orchestrated them, and no organised banners or candlelight marches were planned. The outrage and grief were spontaneous, coming straight from the hearts of the people. Every mosque observed silence." Abdullah admitted he failed in his duty to ensure the safe return of tourists and acknowledged feeling helpless. The Assembly unanimously passed a resolution condemning the incident and pledging to thwart the designs of terrorists. The BJP held a press conference later in the day, with party leader Gaurav Bhatia elaborating on the 'sar tan se juda" ideology of 'Lashkar-e-Pakistan (Congress)". 'There is a national political party that stays among us, but if we call them Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress, it won't be wrong. This image of PM Narendra Modi has been tweeted by the social media handle of Congress. A strong message has been given to Pakistan that in India, the supporters of Mir Jafar are present here…'Sar tan se juda' has become the ideology of Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress today…Such posts are done on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi, which makes the country ashamed. It is an attempt of Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress to weaken India at such a sensitive time," he said. The Bharatiya Janata Party's official X handle also recalled the 'san tan se juda' imagery, and dubbed Congress 'Muslim League 2.0'. 'Terror will be met with bullets, not biryani. This is the era of decisive leadership," the BJP said. The Congress now seems to be following its plan of 2016 and 2019. In the wake of 2016's Pathankot and Uri attacks, and the Pulwama attack in 2019, the Congress had aggressively targeted the government, talking about failures, and argued that ministers concerned could not shrug off responsibility and accountability.
