Main stage act pulls out of TRNSMT festival as replacement announced
An act has pulled out of TRNSMT Festival just a day before they are set to take due to an 'illness' as a legendary act steps in... English rock band Wunderhorse will no longer be performing at the TRNSMT Festival on Saturday, July 12, due to illness. The festival organisers shared the news on their official social media channels earlier today. The popular band was scheduled to perform on the festival's main stage from 2:10 pm to 2:50 pm on Saturday, but organisers have confirmed that English singer-songwriter and Last Shadow Puppets front man, Miles Kane, will now be joining the lineup instead. Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the official TRSNMT Festival account shared the following statement: "Unfortunately due to illness @wunderhorse are no longer able to play at Rockstar Energy presents TRNSMT on Saturday July 12th. However we are buzzing to have the amazing @MilesKaneMusic joining us! "See you at Glasgow Green." Formed in 2020, Wunderhorse - made up of Jacob Slater, Jamie Staples, Harry Fowler, and Seb Byford - has rapidly gained popularity, quickly building a dedicated fan base. Disappointed fans took to social media to react to the news, as one fan simply stated: "Noooo wtf." With another penning: "Hope he gets better soon but... NOOOO," alongside a crying face emoji. A third fan had said the announcement had "ruined my weekend," which prompted one user to reply: "There are reasons why people shouldn't buy festival tickets for one artist." A fourth fan showed their disappointment in the lineup stating: "No Wunderhorse. No Kneecap. Gutted."\ However some fans were extremely pleased by the replacement, as one fan said: "That's a huge upgrade!!!" as another agreed writing: "I love Wunderhorse but Miles Kane is so much better, easy." A third penned: "What a replacement, an absolute GOAT." It comes weeks after Irish rappers Kneecap were axed from the TRNSMT line up due to safety concerns from Police Scotland. Back in May, rapper Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh was charged with a terror offence after allegedly waving a flag in support of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah during a performance last November. The Belfast trio, made up of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, have been outspoken critics of the war in Gaza, gaining a lot of public attention. Instead of playing TRNSMT, the rap trio played a gig at Glasgow's o2 Academy on Tuesday evening (July 8) to a sold out crowd of 2,500 people. The band had stated they didn't want to disappoint their fans by not playing a gig in Glasgow at all, claiming Glasgow as one of their favourite cities. TRNSMT Festival begins today, marking the return of Scotland's largest music event to Glasgow Green, where more than 150,000 fans are set to enjoy another unforgettable weekend of live music. This year's TRNSMT line-up features big names such as 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, Fontaines DC, Snow Patrol and Gracie Abrams.

‘Door open' for Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner to play at music venue's final gig
Kane, 39, who plays with Turner in The Last Shadow Puppets, is due to play the venue's last gig on June 27, after The Leadmill announced it would have to leave its premises in the South Yorkshire city after losing a long-running eviction battle with its landlord, Electric Group. Arctic Monkeys played several early shows at the venue before the release of their first album, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, and Kane has said he would welcome Turner's return to the stage during an interview with Radio X. Asked whether the Sheffield-born singer, who is also 39, would join him, Kane said: 'Well, he's redecorating it (The Leadmill) at the minute, so he's making it all leopard print for us, because, you know, it's got to be done by hand. 'My door's always open for my bro, he knows that, and that's that.' Turner has not performed live since Arctic Monkeys' last gig on their tour in support of latest album The Car (2022) in 2023. The duo have seen both of their albums with The Last Shadow Puppets reach number one in the UK albums chart, and Kane said it would be an 'honour' to play The Leadmill's last gig having performed there throughout his career. He told Radio X: 'It's served me well, and Sheffield as a city as well has always had my back with gigs, that'd be one of the first to sell out or whatever. 'So, it's a complete honour, and let's give it a good send-off. I think it'll be a very special night, and it always pops off in there, and hopefully next Friday it won't be any different.' Arctic Monkeys have seen six of their seven albums reach number one, and two of their singles reach the peak of the UK singles chart in I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and When The Sun Goes Down. The band performed I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and a cover of The Beatles' Come Together at the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012, and have also headlined Glastonbury on three occasions, in 2007, 2013 and 2023.

Miles Kane is 'open' to a Last Shadow Puppets reunion with Alex Turner
Miles Kane is "open" to a Last Shadow Puppets reunion. The indie star formed the supergroup with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner in 2007, and their last album was 2016's Everything You've Come to Expect, which was accompanied with a tour. Although there are no current plans for the pair to get back onstage together or record new music, including at the final concert at Sheffield's The Leadmill in Alex's home city, which will be headlined by Miles, he isn't ruling out future projects with his pal. Speaking to NME, Miles said of a possible reunion: 'There are no plans for it at the minute, but my door is always open.' Quizzed on whether he'd like to hit the studio again with Alex, he replied: 'Well, I would, but we'll just see where it goes. I'm always up for anything, me.' Miles is also in the supergroup The Jaded Hearts Club - also comprising Matt Bellamy (Muse), Graham Coxon (Blur), Nic Cester (Jet), Sean Payne (The Zutons), and Jamie Davis - and is keen to work with them to. He said: 'Bring it all on, mate! Bring it all on." Miles has just announced his new album, Sunlight In The Shadows, which saw him work with studio wizard and The Black Keys star Dan Auerbach - who is known for his work with Lana Del Rey. He said of the record and working with Dan: 'All roads, over 20 years, have led here. 'Dan and I love mixing T. Rex, Motown and The Easybeats and the result is this record. When we were chatting and sharing references, we were so similar in taste it was frightening and you can hear that shared passion through the music. I can't wait to take it out on the road. It's an album that needs to be played live." The album features contributions from Pat McLaughlin, Daniel Tashian and The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Dan sings backing vocals and plays on every track, with further guitars by Tom Bukovac, guitarist Nick Bockrath of Cage The Elephant and Barrie Cadogan from British garage futurists Little Barrie. The producer commented: "This record was incredible to make from start to finish. I felt like I gained a life-long friend in Miles. And that doesn't always happen. When it does, it's amazing. This is an artist who could potentially make records forever." The lead single and opening track, Love Is Cruel, is out now. Miles said of the track: 'It's easy to reflect on life and to get caught up in what's happened before. "It's important not to let those thoughts control you. The track begins with 'she's a midnight scooter rider,' which is one of my favourite opening lines to a single. It sets the tone lyrically and musically for what's to come. Think Clint Eastwood and Judy Garland in the desert at dusk!' Sunlight In The Shadows is out on October 17. Sunlight In The Shadows tracklisting: 1. Love Is Cruel 2. Electric Flower 3. Sunlight In The Shadows 4. Coming Down The Road 5. Always In Over My Head 6. Blue Skies 7. My Love 8. Without You 9. Sing A Song To Love 10. Slow Death 11. I Pray 12. Walk On The Ocean
