Daily Record11-07-2025
An act has pulled out of TRNSMT Festival just a day before they are set to take due to an 'illness' as a legendary act steps in...
English rock band Wunderhorse will no longer be performing at the TRNSMT Festival on Saturday, July 12, due to illness. The festival organisers shared the news on their official social media channels earlier today.
The popular band was scheduled to perform on the festival's main stage from 2:10 pm to 2:50 pm on Saturday, but organisers have confirmed that English singer-songwriter and Last Shadow Puppets front man, Miles Kane, will now be joining the lineup instead.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the official TRSNMT Festival account shared the following statement: "Unfortunately due to illness @wunderhorse are no longer able to play at Rockstar Energy presents TRNSMT on Saturday July 12th. However we are buzzing to have the amazing @MilesKaneMusic joining us!

"See you at Glasgow Green."
Formed in 2020, Wunderhorse - made up of Jacob Slater, Jamie Staples, Harry Fowler, and Seb Byford - has rapidly gained popularity, quickly building a dedicated fan base.
Disappointed fans took to social media to react to the news, as one fan simply stated: "Noooo wtf." With another penning: "Hope he gets better soon but... NOOOO," alongside a crying face emoji.
A third fan had said the announcement had "ruined my weekend," which prompted one user to reply: "There are reasons why people shouldn't buy festival tickets for one artist."
A fourth fan showed their disappointment in the lineup stating: "No Wunderhorse. No Kneecap. Gutted."\

However some fans were extremely pleased by the replacement, as one fan said: "That's a huge upgrade!!!" as another agreed writing: "I love Wunderhorse but Miles Kane is so much better, easy."
A third penned: "What a replacement, an absolute GOAT."

It comes weeks after Irish rappers Kneecap were axed from the TRNSMT line up due to safety concerns from Police Scotland. Back in May, rapper Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh was charged with a terror offence after allegedly waving a flag in support of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah during a performance last November.
The Belfast trio, made up of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, have been outspoken critics of the war in Gaza, gaining a lot of public attention.

Instead of playing TRNSMT, the rap trio played a gig at Glasgow's o2 Academy on Tuesday evening (July 8) to a sold out crowd of 2,500 people. The band had stated they didn't want to disappoint their fans by not playing a gig in Glasgow at all, claiming Glasgow as one of their favourite cities.
TRNSMT Festival begins today, marking the return of Scotland's largest music event to Glasgow Green, where more than 150,000 fans are set to enjoy another unforgettable weekend of live music.
This year's TRNSMT line-up features big names such as 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, Fontaines DC, Snow Patrol and Gracie Abrams.

Blu became best known for two very short-lived stints on the ITV2 programme and for failing to find a solid connection during his time in the villa. 4 A Love Islander has claimed that Maya was cold towards him on the show Credit: Getty 4 Blu revealed he only had frosty interactions with the glam TV host Credit: Shutterstock Editorial But since his second exit from the Majorcan compound, he has since claimed to have received the cold shoulder from host Maya. During his first stay, Blu was coupled up with Alima but it soon transpired there was not a connection between the pair. However, Blu faced online backlash with some suggesting he had written off a connection with Alima too quick. Blu has now suggested that this could have been the reason behind Maya's apparent disdain for him. In a new interview he said of Maya: "Maya Jama was cold towards me because I was opinionated, or maybe the whole Alima controversy has turned her off me. "I got backlash for saying Alima wasn't my type, I wasn't her type either. She didn't get backlash." The Sun has contacted a representative for Maya Jama for comment. Speaking to to Simon Gross on Get Gossy With Grossy, Blu also went on to admit that sometimes his comments on the show could have been misconstrued due to his struggled with speaking English. The star was educated in Spain and he admitted this had an impact on the way he communicated inside the villa. Blu said: "I am now working on communication, personal development. After a showdown in which he famously insisted he "wasn't f***ing leaving," Blu walked out of the villa. He returned over a month later for a second shot at love but failed to find a connection and was soon axed as a result of a public vote which saw him and Helena Ford given the boot a week before the final as a result of being in a friendship couple. 4 Blu claimed to get a frosty response from Maya Credit: Shutterstock Editorial

Ryan Reynolds says he and Rob McElhenney don't make Wrexham ‘football decisions'

Wrexham have had a meteoric rise under their Hollywood owners, becoming the first team in the history of English football's top five divisions to secure three successive promotions. Reynolds and McElhenney were at the SToK Cae Ras on Saturday to watch Wrexham play their first home game in the second tier of English football since May 1982. But there was no Hollywood ending as West Brom won 3-2 to leave the Red Dragons without a Championship point after two games. 'We have a very hands-off management style,' Deadpool star Reynolds told Sky Sports. 'Our job is to listen, learn, and tell the story. And that's I think a great position for any ownership group to be in, to really just be there to support and tell the story. 'We don't make football decisions. And it's actually the great gift of that is that we're able to have relationships with the players at Wrexham, whereas most people in our position can't. 'So we have a relationship with every single one of our players.' The Welsh club's commercial success – fuelled by Reynolds and McElhenney's celebrity status and the award-winning 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary series – has allowed them to invest heavily in Phil Parkinson's squad with nine summer signings. Wrexham have broken their transfer record three times this summer and Wales striker Nathan Broadhead, signed from Ipswich in a deal worth up to £10million, made his debut against West Brom. McElhenney said: 'It's interesting to get accolades when you hear people say, 'Oh, you guys have done a pretty good job with the club. 'The truth is we don't really have anything to do with what happens out on the pitch. 'We've got our very specific job, which is to be clowns and to tell the story as best we can. 'But also to be as respectful as we possibly can to what Phil does on the pitch and what the executive team, Michael (Williamson) and Shaun (Harvey) and Humphrey (Ker) and everybody does off the pitch. 'We just have an incredible team and we just get to sit back and be fans and document the process.'

Katie told him to stop and he replied: ''OK, chill''. The remark, however, left Dustin unamused. ''Did you just tell your mum to chill?'' a shocked Dustin asked the little boy. Without much hesitation, Dustin then demanded the youngster to start doing push-ups. The nine-year-old obliged, immediately getting down on all fours and and starting the exercise. He stopped after doing ten - but the dad still wasn't satisfied and told him to keep going. ''I can't do anymore,'' Tommy said - however, Dustin wasn't having any of it and kept pushing the nine-year-old to ''go, go'' 20 push-ups later, Tommy was exhausted - but his dad then broke the news that he'd also have to do squats. The nine-year-old did a whopping 60 squats before his dad finally told him he could stop. Irish comedian Emma Doran on the differences between her childhood and that of her kids ''Do we tell mum to 'chill out'? Absolutely not,'' Dustin told him after he was done. 'I wouldn't let anybody else talk to her like that so you don't get to talk to her like that.'' Tommy then apologised to mum Katie and the viral video ended with Dustin telling him: ''I love you.'' Sharing the footage online under the username @raisingmaletich, Katie wrote in the caption: ''I will never stop being grateful to be raising kids with a real man who knows how to be a father, especially to his boys. Different parenting styles explained There are four recognised styles of parenting explained below: Authoritarian Parenting What some might describe as "regimental" or "strict" parenting. Parents with this style focus on strict rules, obedience, and discipline. Authoritarian parents take over the decision-making power, rarely giving children any input in the matter. When it comes to rules, you believe it's "my way or the highway". Permissive Parenting Often referred to as "soft parenting" or "yes mums/dads". Permissive parents are lenient, only stepping in when there's a serious problem. They're quite forgiving and they adopt an attitude of "kids will be kids". Oftentimes they act more like friends than authoritative figures. Authoritative Parenting Authoritative parents provide their children with rules and boundaries, but they also give them the freedom to make decisions. With an authoritative parenting style, parents validate their children's feelings while also making it clear that the adults are ultimately in charge. They use positive reinforcement techniques, like praise and reward systems, as opposed to harsh punishments. Neglectful or Uninvolved Parenting Essentially, neglectful parents ignore their children, who receive little guidance, nurturing, and parental attention. They don't set rules or expectations, and they tend to have minimal knowledge about what their children are doing. Uninvolved parents expect children to raise themselves. They don't devote much time or energy to meeting children's basic needs. Uninvolved parents may be neglectful but it's not always intentional. A parent with mental health issues or substance abuse problems, for example, may not be able to care for a child's physical or emotional needs consistently. ''This is masculinity,'' Katie wrote in the caption of the video, which has racked up more than 1.4 million views. But viewers were divided over parenting technique, with some applauding Dustin's method and others slamming the pair for making their son do physical activity as punishment. While chatting exclusively with the Daily Mail, Katie and Dustin defended their actions. ''This is not something exceptionally difficult for him because we all workout together as a family for fun several times a week and he is used to this sort of exertion,'' Dustin explained. '''You can tell right away when I ask him, 'What did you say?' that he knew he had messed up. ''He is such a great kid and is generally very remorseful when he knows that he made a mistake.'' Dustin applauded his son for apologising to Katie without being asked to and pointed out that the moment ''ended with love''. In Dustin's eyes, the physical exercise allows Tommy to ''refocus when he feels that he doesn't have control over his body and mind which always makes him more reception to healthy communication''. The couple said they never expected the video to get the reaction it did, and they viewed it as a ''tender parenting moment''. In the interview, Dustin said it meant something special to his partner because Katie grew up in a home ''where there was a lot of toxicity, emotionally reactive parenting, yelling and anger''. He said that when Katie saw the ''corrective parenting moment'' unfold between the two, it left her ''very emotional'' - and Katie allegedly felt ''inspired''. In response to the online backlash, Dustin reminded social media users that everyone parents in the way they ''see fit''. ''I think as long as you aren't doing anything to intentionally harm your child, I think you get to make that decision,'' he told the publication. As for their parenting method, Dustin explained they're trying to raise Tommy as a ''healthy, happy, resilient and respectful human''. Social media users left divided Online, the video has sparked a fierce debate, leaving many divided. One said: ''I don't really agree with physical exercise being used as a punishment but glad he was supportive of not letting them talk to you that way.'' Another chimed in: ''the fact he even said 'don't give up' & 'good one', encouraging him while also being a parent & disciplining him! literally a perfect example of what good parenting should look like in a situation like this!'' Someone else said: ''this is called tough love and holding children accountable for their actions. a lot of parents don't understand this. which is why we end up with kids running ragged.''
