Manchester City midfielder Coombs signs new one-year deal

Manchester City midfielder Laura Coombs has signed a new one-year contract with the club. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this afternoon. The 34-year-old was set to be out of contract this summer but she will now remain at The Joie Stadium for another season. Coombs joined Manchester City from Liverpool in 2019 and she has gone on to make 135 appearances for the club in all competitions in which she has scored 21 goals. The midfielder has won the Adobe Women's FA Cup and Subway Women's League Cup with The Cityzens. Despite being in the latter years of her career, Coombs still has an important role to play both on and off the pitch and that has been recognised by Manchester City. After signing her new deal with The Cityzens, Coombs said 'It feels good. Last year, it was a bit of an up and down year for me injury-wise and then to have the backing of the Club and another chance to have another successful season with the Club has meant a lot to me. 'It feels like there's a lot going in behind the scenes and not just what you see on the pitch. I feel like it's a really good time to be involved with the Club and it's a really exciting time. 'The Club's only going to go one way so I'm very happy to be here.' Further Manchester City squad news will be revealed in due course.
