Mads Mikkelsen Returns as Bond Villain Le Chiffre in HITMAN x 007: FIRST LIGHT Video Game Crossover Event — GeekTyrant
Mads Mikkelsen is stepping back into villain mode—and not just any villain. Seventeen years after facing off with James Bond in Casino Royale , Mikkelsen is reprising his role as the cold-blooded Le Chiffre for a crossover event that brings IO Interactive's Hitman series face-to-face with its highly anticipated Bond game, 007 :First Light . This past weekend, Le Chiffre officially became the newest Elusive Target in Hitman , available across all major platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and even the newly released Nintendo Switch 2. Players have until July 6th to hunt him down in a new mission titled The Banker. Mikkelsen himself provides the voice. According to the official event description: 'Mads Mikkelsen returns as Le Chiffre, the iconic private banker to the criminal underworld, known for his mastery of games of chance and probability. 'A recent failed venture left him in dire straits, losing vast sums of both legitimate and illicit capital, and in a desperate bid to recover, he has arranged a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Monarchique in Paris. 'Agent 47 has been tasked with infiltrating the perilous event and will have to find his way to his target to prevent havoc being wreaked across the world.' IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios announced the crossover during Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, where Mikkelsen took the stage with IO CEO Hakan Abrak to reveal the collaboration. The event doubles as a promo for IO's upcoming Bond title 007: First Light , set for release in 2026. There's also a little bonus for players: anyone who takes out Le Chiffre during the limited-time Hitman mission and has an IOI account will unlock an exclusive casino suit for 007: First Light . It's pretty cool that Mikkelsen is playing Le Chiffre again after all these years. He's easily one of the most memorable Bond villains of the modern era.

'Casino Royale' Star Mads Mikkelsen Returns as Le Chiffre
The very first villain that James Bond ever fought was the unscrupulous gambler known as Le Chiffre. And, although that first Bond adventure, Casino Royale, was published in 1953, it wasn't until 2006 that we got a really hardcore version of Le Chiffre on the big screen. And now, 19 years after the debut of that movie, Mads Mikkelsen is back as Le Chiffre, in a super surprising way. As revealed at Summer Game Fest, in Los Angeles, Mikkelsen will appear as Le Chiffre once again in the game HITMAN World of Assassination. The announcement was revealed with a new trailer by IO Interactive, the same game developer that is creating the next big James Bond game, 007 First Light. James Bond will not appear in Hitman World of Assassination, but rather, players will be able to go after Le Chiffre as a specific target. Within the game, Le Chiffre, as played by Mikkelsen, will also be known as "The Banker." This crossover suggests that IO Interactive is going deep on its James Bond connections. While the trailer for First Light suggests an all-new take on Bond (starring Patrick Gibson in the role of 007), the return of Mikkelsen's Le Chiffre from the Daniel Craig era is, of course, a jump back into the recent past. Before Mikkelsen, Peter Lorre played Le Chiffre in a TV version of Casino Royale in 1954. In the 1976 spoof movie, the character was played by Orson Welles. (No word if video game versions of those deep-cut Le Chiffres will return.) It's hard to believe that Casino Royale is now nearly a vintage film. Mikkelsen's take on Le Chiffre is, of course, one of the greatest all-time James Bond villains. It's good to have him back. According to IO Interactive: "The Banker is available globally on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2, starting today, June 6th, to Monday, July 6th."'Casino Royale' Star Mads Mikkelsen Returns as Le Chiffre first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 7, 2025

Hitman World of Assassination is coming to iOS and table tops
The Hitman trilogy, also known as Hitman World of Assassination, will be available on iPhones, iPads, as well as Mac computers, this summer. IO Interactive has announced that it was expanding Hitman's availability during the developer's showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, where it celebrated the franchise's 25th anniversary. IO Interactive's Chief Development Officer, Veronique Lallier, said the launch on iOS means you can travel the world with Hitman in your pocket. Event attendees were given the chance to experience the game running natively on iOS. Lallier also announced that Hitman is coming to table top. IO Interactive has teamed up with board game creator Mood Publishing to make Hitman the board game, which will be available for backing on Kickstarter later this year. The board game will feature the franchise's characters, iconic weapons and backdrops. Up to four players can play as assassins going after a single target, and the one who takes the target out will get the payout in the end. In addition, the developer has revealed that Le Chiffre, the villain from the Bond film Casino Royale , will be the World of Assassination's new Elusive Target. Mads Mikkelsen, the actor who played Le Chiffre in the movie, provided the likeness and the voice for the new game character. You'll only have a limited time to go after Mikkelsen's character, as Hitman's Elusive Target missions only appear once, and you cannot attempt them again after they end. To note, IO Interactive recently revealed its James Bond game, 007 First Light , which will be coming out in 2026. If you play the Elusive Target mission with Le Chiffre, you can redeem an exclusive suit in 007 First Light when it becomes available.
