VIJAYAWADA: HRD, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on Wednesday and presented a comprehensive outline of the far-reaching reforms being implemented in Andhra Pradesh's education sector. He also met Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and reiterated the long-pending demand for a High Court bench in Kurnool. During his meeting with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Lokesh stated that the new coalition government is committed to structural reforms aimed at establishing the AP Model of Education. 'Under the flagship Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) initiative, the state is setting up 9,600 model primary schools, one in each Assembly constituency. The government is implementing a 'One Class – One Teacher' policy and has already upgraded 700 upper primary schools to high schools. A star rating system has been introduced to evaluate schools based on academic and infrastructural parameters,' he said. Lokesh also highlighted the successful and apolitical implementation of the Teacher Transfer Act based on seniority, the establishment of 80 new PM SHRI schools and 79 hostels under the PM Janman scheme, and the sanctioning of Rs 186 crore for STEM and computer labs. Efforts are also underway to open 125 autism schools with central support. A state-wide mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) is scheduled for July 5, and Lokesh invited Union Minister Pradhan to attend.

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh met Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dankar as well as four union ministers here on Wednesday and highlighted the progress achieved by Andhra Pradesh under the NDA rule over the past one year. After the Vice-President made enquiries about the progress of developmental works relating to Amaravati, Lokesh informed him that the Amaravati works, started with an outlay of Rs 64,000 crore, could be completed in three years. Lokesh presented a book on his Yuva Galam pada yatra to the Vice President. Later, Minister Lokesh met Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah and briefed him on the progress of Andhra Pradesh during the NDA government's one-year period. When Lokesh presented the Union Minister with the book on Yuva Galam pada yatra, Amit Shah congratulated him on undertaking the pada yatra with the objective of knowing the problems of people at close quarters and assured him of Centre's cooperation for the development of Andhra Pradesh state. Later, the Minister met Union Minister of Food Processing Chirag Paswan and sought cooperation to develop Rayalaseema region as a horticulture hub. He said that horticulture farmers of the Rayalaseema region were suffering losses due to lack of minimum support price (MSP) for the produce. Union Minister Chirag Paswan, while assuring cooperation from his side, said that he would be visiting Tirupati to inaugurate a food processing incubation centre on July 11. Subsequently, Minister Lokesh met Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghawal seeking cooperation for the establishment of a bench of the AP High Court at Kurnool. He said that Rayalaseema people were facing problems travelling 500 km to attend High Court hearings in Amaravati and requested a High Court bench in Kurnool. Lokesh also met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and briefed him on the reforms being undertaken by the new coalition government to enhance educational standards in the state. He said that, as part of this initiative, the government was introducing the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) programme to transform the education ecosystem. A total of 9,600 model primary schools were being established across the state, following a 'One Class – One Teacher' policy. Additionally, 175 LEAP schools - one in each Assembly constituency - were being developed with world-class infrastructure. Around 700 upper primary schools had been upgraded to high schools. Schools were now being awarded ratings based on academic and infrastructural standards, he said. Lokesh invited Pradhan to attend the mega parent-teacher event on July 5. He also requested that Andhra Pradesh be given the opportunity to host the Education Ministers' Conclave in August—a proposal that was accepted by Pradhan. The Union Minister commended Lokesh for his transformative efforts in the education sector.

Vijayawada: Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday urged Union minister for law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal to help set up a high court bench at Kurnool. Lokesh met Meghwal on Wednesday as part of his Delhi tour and explained the necessity for a high court bench in view of the long-pending demand and practical difficulties faced by people from the Rayalaseema region. Lokesh also met several union ministers on the first day of his two-day visit to the national capital. In the meeting with Union minister for education Dharmendra Pradhan, Lokesh explained the structural reforms being brought for the Andhra model of education, with a special focus on learning outcomes. He also explained the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) system, the one class one teacher initiative in 9,600 model primary schools, and the upgrading of 700 upper primary schools to high schools. To bring transparency into the system, legislation was introduced for teacher transfers, and star ratings are being given to schools based on performance. Lokesh said the state govt is planning to bring unified legislation for strengthening higher education in universities. He said that with the effective implementation of Swayam, Swayam+ Samarth programs, the gross enrolment ratio increased from 36% to 50% in higher education. The AI University, sports university, and international law university, which are to be set up, will further strengthen higher education in AP, he said. Lokesh also sought the Centre's cooperation in setting up food processing industries in the Rayalaseema region. In the meeting with the Union minister for food processing Chirag Paswan he explained that the Rayalaseema region is suitable for horticulture crops. Large cultivation of mango, tomato, banana, and other horticultural crops is done in the region, but farmers often find themselves at the losing end in the absence of processing units. Paswan promised to visit the region to explore opportunities for setting up new industries. Lokesh also met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union home minister Amit Shah and discussed various issues pertaining to the state.

Union Minister Pradhan said that Nara Lokesh also briefed him about the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) initiative by the state government. Minister for IT & Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar in New Delhi. During the meeting, Mr. Lokesh apprised Mr. Dhankhar of the coalition government's achievements in the last one year, and highlighted various development and welfare programmes being implemented in the State. He sought Mr. Dhankhar's support in taking the State forward, while pointing out that Andhra Pradesh was poised to be the front-runner in adopting quantum technologies by developing a Quantum Valley in Amaravati. Asked about the progress of construction of the capital Amaravati, Mr. Lokesh told the Vice- President that works costing about ₹64,000 crore were going on in different stages at a brisk pace. On the occasion, Mr. Lokesh presented a copy of the coffee-table book on his Yuvagalam to Mr. Dhankhar. Later, Mr. Lokesh called on Union Ministers Amit Shah (Home), Chirag Paswan (Food Processing Industries) and Dharmendra Pradhan (Education). In his meeting with Mr. Shah, the HRD Minister highlighted the achievements of the NDA Government, and informed him about the overall situation in the State. He mentioned that extensive arrangements were made for the International Yoga Day event in Visakhapatnam on June 21, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of other dignitaries would be taking part. The discussion with Mr. Paswan was focused on the Central government's support for the establishment of food processing units in the State, especially in the Rayalaseema region. Mr. Lokesh explained that farmers in Rayalaseema would extensively cultivate fruits like mango, banana, tomato, sweet lime, pomegranate and dates, but struggle to fetch fair prices. Their situation would improve if the Centre takes necessary market intervention measures. While promising to extend full support, Mr. Paswan said he would soon visit the State for inaugurating a food processing incubation centre at the IIIT, Tirupati, and would be touring Rayalaseema on July 11 and 12. Mr. Lokesh told Mr. Pradhan that structural reforms were being implemented to achieve better outcomes, highlighting the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) initiative, which was aimed at improving the education ecosystem. He mentioned that the schools were being given star ratings on the basis of their academic and infrastructure standards. A new Teacher Transfer Act had been implemented for ensuring promotions and transfers with seniority and merit as the yardsticks. New universities were being set up under the Center of Excellence initiative, he said. They were Artificial Intelligence University in Visakhapatnam, a Sports University in Amaravati, and India International University of Legal Education and Research, Mr. Lokesh added. Mr. Lokesh was accompanied by MPs Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Kesineni Sivanath, B. Nagaraju, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, S. Satish, and Byreddy Shabari.
