Werder Bremen among those interested in former Manchester United prospect
Fabrizio Romano reports that Werder Bremen are among the parties interested in former Fulham and Manchester United man Maxi Oyedele. The Bundesliga outfit has plenty of competition for the Legia Warsaw midfielder, who is available via a €6m exit clause in his current contract. Man United sold Oyedele to Legia in August 2024, but were rumored to secure a generous re-sale clause for themselves. Transfermarkt reports that the English Red Devils will receive 40 percent of any sale involving Oyedele. Advertisement The England-born Oyedele has enjoyed success since moving to the country he's opted to represent internationally. The 20-year-old has pumped up his estimated market value from €300,000 to €4m in the Polish Ekstraklasa. Bremen aren't necessarily known for making large purchases, but – thanks to some investor backing – are expected to make some signifiant outlays in the summer transfer market. GGFN | Peter Weis

Legia beats Pogon to win Polish Cup
Warsaw, May 3 (UNI) Legia Warsaw claimed the Polish Cup after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Pogon Szczecin at the National Stadium here on Friday. Legia made a strong start, launching an aggressive attack from the very first whistle. In the 13th minute, Ryoya Morishita dribbled past two opponents on the right wing and delivered a precise pass to Luquinhas, who tapped the ball into the net from close range to put his team ahead. Led by coach Goncalo Feio, the players did not slow down. In the 25th minute, they had a perfect opportunity to double their lead when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru fouled Radovan Pankov. However, the 29-year-old goalkeeper redeemed himself by saving Marc Gual's penalty effort. Pogon responded with a shot from Rafal Kurzawa in the 32nd minute, which hit the crossbar from long range. Four minutes before the break, Robert Kolendowicz's team equalized after a stunning cross from Kamil Grosicki allowed Danijel Loncar to score with a well-placed header, making it 1-1. The second half began in the best possible way for Legia. In the 46th minute, Pawel Wszolek's shot was blocked, but Morishita found the rebound and powered a shot past Cojocaru to restore the lead for Legia. In the 64th minute, Feio's team showcased its quality once again. After a brilliant through pass from Morishita, Ilya Shkurin dribbled past Cojocaru and scored into the empty net to give Legia a two-goal advantage. Pogon fought relentlessly to score its second goal just three minutes later through Efthymis Koulouris, whose shot deflected off Ruben Vinagre and into the net after a low pass from the left wing. In the 85th minute, Vinagre made amends as he confidently curled a precise shot into the far post to make the score 4-2. Despite Kacper Smolinski giving Pogon some hope of a comeback as he collected a rebound to score during stoppage time, Legia secured a 4-3 victory. This victory marked Legia Warsaw's 21st Polish Cup triumph in the club's history, while Pogon suffered its second consecutive final defeat after having lost to Wisla Krakow in the previous edition. Enzo Maresca warns Chelsea against complacency after big win at Djurgarden
However, Chelsea have the recent memory of the quarter-final scare given to them by Legia Warsaw who won at Stamford Bridge having lost the first leg 3-0 at home. 'The performance for one hour, 70 minutes was good, then we dropped a little bit the last 20 minutes because we were at 4-0, but it showed us we cannot allow ourselves to drop. 'Against Warsaw away we won 3-0 but then at home we struggled, so it's a good experience. For sure the next leg at home we're going to finish our job. 'We have the experience of Warsaw, we can learn from that.' Asked whether he thought the tie was over, he said: 'No no, absolutely (not).' Maresca left Cole Palmer on the bench alongside Jackson but both came on to good effect for the second half, Palmer setting up Jackson's first which owed to a mix-up in the Djurgarden defence before the Senegal international fired in his second from the edge of the box. It was a welcome sight for travelling fans, coming just days after Jackson had ended his four-month goalscoring drought against Everton, though Palmer's fallow spell stretched to another match. 'If you remember at home against Warsaw we started with Nicolas and Cole from the beginning and both struggled,' said Maresca. 'Now you can see that Nico looks a different player because he scored against Everton. He has confidence again. 'The same thing is for Cole and hopefully we can have him scoring and getting assists again.' Chelsea led 2-0 at half-time thanks to Sancho's early goal and a fine strike by Madueke, who continued to impress and left behind him the criticism made by Maresca of his attitude earlier in the season. 'The reason why I tried to push Noni is I think he can do better and better and better,' said Maresca. 'In terms of numbers I think he's scored more than 10. His season has been very good but we have five more games and hopefully he can help us with some more goals.' There was also a debut in the second half for 16-year-old Reggie Walsh, who became the club's youngest ever player in European competition. 'I've been excited for a long time to give him his debut chance because he's so good,' said Maresca. 'He's very young but in the way we want to play, our style, he's perfect. 'We gave eight debuts this second from the academy, it's good. 'I said just enjoy the moment, be happy, play in the way he is training with us every day. He makes everything easy.'
