Emmerdale fans figure out why John and Aaron's wedding registrar looked so familiar

Emmerdale fans were on the edge of their seats on Wednesday night as Aaron Dingle and John Sugden came within seconds of tying the knot. But they recognised the registrar from somewhere. If you thought John Sugden and Aaron Dingle's wedding registrar looked familiar on Wednesday's (May 28) episode of Emmerdale, you're not alone. John (Oliver Farnworth) and Aaron's (Danny Miller) wedding has been taking place in this week's episodes, but in true soap fashion, there have been countless dramas along the way. Secret villain John has been haunted by nightmares of being caught for Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) murder as the lake gets emptied due to the slurry leak at Butler's Farm. That's not all, as Aidan Moore's (Geoff Dignan) mother, and Cathleen (Julia Watson), urged John to go and visit his ex-fiancé in the hospital after he awoke from a coma, reports Leicester Live. ‌ Aaron followed John to the hospital and momentarily called off the wedding when he realised that his fiancé was visiting his ex on their wedding day. ‌ Meanwhile, in The Woolpack, the Dingles tried to contact the grooms as the wedding registrar became increasingly agitated. Despite the hurdles, John and Aaron eventually made it down the aisle on Wednesday night, but the mood soon shifted when an unexpected visitor crashed the wedding. During the ceremony, the registrar said: "If any person here present knows of any lawful impediment to this marriage, they should declare it now." ‌ Just as the couple were about to say their vows, Aaron's ex-husband, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), rushed through the door, saying: "Hello Aaron, missed me?" before the credits began rolling. Soap viewers will recall Robert being handed a 14-year prison sentence back in 2019 after he pleaded guilty to the attack on Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie). The registrar, who hasn't been named, is played by actress Janine Mellor, with several Emmerdale viewers only just realising that she previously starred on a rival soap. ‌ Over the years, Janine has appeared on Fat Friends, Holby City, Coronation Street, Doctor Who and Doctors. However, she is best known for her role in Casualty as nurse Kelsey Phillips, appearing in 169 episodes. ‌ Kelsey worked in the emergency department from 2005 to 2009. The character left the hospital in season 23 as she chose to start a new life. After watching Janine appear on Emmerdale in recent scenes, many soap fans have taken to social media to share her connection to Casualty. ‌ "Where do I know the registrar from, I have a feeling I've seen her before," one person asked on a Facebook fan page. "Think she was a nurse in Casualty years back," another confirmed, with a third saying: "Oh my gosh she was in classic Casualty!" A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, noting: "Ah it's Kelsey!" with another sharing: "Her name was Kelsey in Casualty, what a throwback." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Joe Tate will finally meet his fate this week after months of questionable antics in Emmerdale Emmerdale fans are in for a treat as Thursday night's episode promises even more drama in the Dales than usual. A huge Joe Tate whodunnit will have viewers gripped as a birthday party for Lydia Dingle has explosive consequences. Joe has been making waves in the village since his arrival last year, and not in a good way, and it's reported that he will finally meet his fate this week. Some of his most questionable antics of late have included drugging his half brother Noah, leading to a deadly limo crash, arranging an attack on his uncle Caleb Milligan in a ruthless bid to steal his kidney, having an affair with Dawn Fletcher and even stopping to blackmailing her daughter, Clemmie. ‌ Those who are considered enemies of Joe will be seen at the party, but, as reports Leicester Live, it's been teased already that someone is out for major revenge in the ITV soap - so the question is, who could it be from the long list of possible suspects? ‌ Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw has been opening up about what fans can expect from the upcoming episodes: "Charismatic bad boy, Joe Tate, as soon as he arrived in the show he'd already got quite a few enemies straight away but what we'll see in the kind of run up is that he manages to recruit quite a few more enemies as well. "And by the time we get to this episode, that list has grown and grown and grown. What you kind of see is we've got this lavish birthday party that's been arranged for Lydia." She added: "We've got lots of people up here and there are a lot of daggers drawn and a lot of people looking at Joe Tate and want him dead". She went on: "I can tell you that one person definitely will be getting their revenge on Joe Tate. Will they succeed in their murderous act? We'll have to wait and see!" Laura teased of the hour-long episode: "I've been here long enough that I actually script edited it, that's how long I've been here, which was the 'who killed Tom King' storyline in 2006. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'There's a little bit of a homage to the who killed Tom King storyline in there for die hard fans, a couple of little Easter eggs in there." Emmerdale diehards will remember Tom King, the multi-millionaire who first appeared on the show back in 2004, along with sons Jimmy, who still lives in the village, Matthew, Carl and Max. The businessman was killed at his wedding on Christmas Day 2006, when he was murdered in another ITV whodunnit. It was later revealed to fans that he'd been pushed from his bedroom window after being hit over the head with an ornament by son Carl. Emmerdale continues every weeknight at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV X with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

ITV Emmerdale DI Roberts wife is rival soap legend, leaving fans floored

Emmerdale actress Isobel Middleton, famed for her role as DI Roberts, has left fans floored after realising she has tied the knot with a soap legend away from cameras. Isobel made her first appearance on Emmerdale earlier this year as its new village detective. She was tasked with discovering key information on Anthony Fox's disappearance. Fans will recall how abuser Fox was killed in January by his daughter Ruby Fox-Miligan, with things soon turning messy as other families have got involved in the cover up. Those including Caleb, Chas Dingle and Cain have all found themselves in hot water. DI Roberts ended up arresting Cain over Anthony Fox's disappearance but later released him when it was clear she didn't have enough evidence. Meanwhile, on the ITV soap this week DI Roberts made a sensational return to the village leaving Caleb shocked. Monday's episode, April 22, saw the detective informing Caleb and Ruby about a break-in at their depot. But the personal life of Isobel off-screen is what has captured the attention of many fans, reports Leicester Live . In real life, she is married to soap legend Jane Hazlegrove, famed for her role as Bernie Winter on Coronation Street. The pair have been together over two decades, marking 28 years together. Isobel and Jane tied the knot back in 2015. Jane opened up about their relationship previously when she appeared on Lorraine back in 2019. She gushed: 'She's sensational, a really beautiful woman. I am very obsessed.' Isobel has played several characters in Emmerdale over the years. She took on the role of Dr Lane in 2014, followed by a barrister role during Simon McManus' 2018 trial. And in 2020, she played Jean Rawson on the soap. Elsewhere in her career in 2002, she played Sadie Banks on BBC's EastEnders. And turning her hand to blockbusters, Isobel also appeared in 2009's Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Not leaving any of the soaps untouched, she also appeared in wife Jane's very own soap Coronation Street in 2022. Isobel played a feminist author, Persephone Braxton, who held a book launch in Roy's Rolls. Fans have been left with their jaws dropping after realising Isobel is married to Jane. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, alongside a photo of the couple, one person penned: As if Bernie from Coronation Street is married to the detective in Emmerdale!' Someone else chimed in: 'Wow I didn't know that.' A third shared their shock and proclaimed: 'How sweet! A gorgeous couple.'
