The best burger in London, according to Time Out

Burgers are one of life's greatest pleasures. That combination of bread, succulent filling, oozy cheese and perhaps a pickle or two is so simple, but so darn good. With such a neat formula, there are thousands of spots across London with decent burgers on offer. But here at Time Out, we're interested in the outstanding. Our professional food obsessives have powered through dozens of patties in the city to bring you our list of London's best burgers, updated for August 2025. And we're coming at you with a brand new number one. Right now you'll find London's best burger at Dumbo. The Parisian burger brand opened its first international joint in Shoreditch earlier this summer and has already won Londoners over. Plus, at £10 it offers one of the cheapest cheeseburgers on our list. Time Out food editor Leonie Cooper wrote: 'The sleek smashburgers at Dumbo offer the perfect charred lacy crust on the edges of super succulent dry-aged beef. Add the requisite slices of gleaming American cheese, before tangy, plump pickles. Then come unobtrusive smears of ketchup and mustard - it's better dressed than peak Chloë Sevigny – and you're got yourself a rightfully hyped new-wave burger titan.' Claiming silver medal is the 'bona fide, utterly brilliant' Dexter cheeseburger from Four Legs at The Plimsoll. This cult classic keeps things super simple. It comes with a thin Dexter beef patty topped by melted cheese, burger sauce, finely minced onion and a generous heap of sweet pickles, all packed inside a glossy brioche bun. According to Leonie, 'you'll be swooning after the first mouthful'. Then, in at number three is an absolute whopper – the colossal meaty bun from Dove. There are only 10 of these burgers served at the Ladbroke Grove restaurant each day. The thick 50-day dry aged beef patty is covered with silky onions that have been cooked in champagne and butter and a pungent blanket of gorgonzola. Such a hefty thing comes with a hefty price tag, though – it'll set you back £18. Other burgers to make the cut on our new list include creations from Bleecker, Lagom and Manna. Find the . The best family-friendly restaurant in London, according to the Michelin Guide

The only person harder to please than a little kid is a foodie – and rightly so. When you've eaten at thousands of restaurants and tried hundreds of different cuisines, you know what good food tastes like, and you don't really want to settle for anything less. That doesn't change when you have children either. If you're sick of mediocre pizza and burgers, but still fancy a meal out with the whole family, the Michelin Guide has you covered. You might not assume that the sort of fine dining that Michelin usually recognises is not particularly child friendly, but you'd be mistaken. There is a glorious middle ground – where children are welcome but the meals are meticulously crafted for excellence. These places may not have stars, but they're still brilliant at what they do. So where does Michelin recommend you take the whole family out for a treat in London? Their top pick is Agora in Borough Market. This Greek-inspired resto came out on top thanks to the fact it takes walk-ins all day long, so works for parents whose days must revolve around the whims of their little ones. Michelin added that its 'menu of skewers, flatbreads and more Greek treats is designed for sharing, ideal for a family with a range of appetites'. Although it didn't make it onto our list of the best family-friendly places to eat in the capital, we love Agora too. Time Out Food and Drink editor Leonie Cooper described the food as 'enough to entice even the only vaguely peckish' during her visit, so we reckon you'll be able to satisfy all sorts of different taste-buds – even picky ones – when you pop in. Next on Michelin's list was Apricity in Mayfair. This upmarket eatery offers a special 'Culinary Kids' meal; a five course tasting menu which aims to broaden your children's palates so that next time you go out, you won't even need the kids menu. It is, admittedly, a ridiculously posh offering, but it's worth it if you want to encourage adventurous eating in your little ones. Bancone, the Covent Garden pasta joint, came third on the list. It's not surprising – as Michelin puts it; 'If we were to put a bet on which food would be most likely to satisfy diners from ages 5 to 85, we'd go for a delicious bowl of pasta.' It's also one of the more affordable spots on the list, which is always a plus for a family. You can have a look at the full list of great family-friendly options from Michelin here. If after reading them all you decide to just get the babysitter after all, have a look at all the London restaurants with Michelin stars – including those which just gained a star – for a meal to remember. The best ice cream in London, according to Time Out

In case you hadn't noticed, it's incredibly hot outside right now. Among the things that makes a London heatwave a lot easier to bear is its exceptional army of ice cream parlours. Whether you like to stick to the classics or prefer your ice cream to be on the more experimental side (parmesan gelato anyone?), Time Out has put together a list of our absolute favourite places to cool down with a scoop or two in the city – and crowned one of them the crème de la crème. The capital's best place to get your scoops this summer is Caliendo's Gelato in Kentish Town. Leonie Cooper, Time Out's food and drink editor said: 'At Caliendo's, you'll find glorious Italian ice cream made by a family who's been churning out the stuff for over 130 years – and have the seal of approval of the Ice Cream Alliance, who awarded them the coveted title of UK Parlour Of The Year.' You can expect all the classic ice cream flavours we know and love, like Belgian chocolate, salted caramel and rum and raisin, but for the true Caliendo's experience, we encourage you to go for one of their quirkier creations. We're talking gelato like yuzu cheesecake, blackcurrant and liquorice, roasted black sesame, apricot sherbet and even toasted sourdough and marmite (don't knock it until you've tried it). View this post on Instagram A post shared by Caliendo's Gelato - UK Parlour of the Year (@caliendos_gelato) As for the best of the rest, Gelupo in Soho took second place for its outstanding classics like black forest cherry and chocolate, blood-orange granita or ewe's-milk ricotta ices and its late closing time, which makes it a delicious alternative to the pub post theatre show. Camden Town's Filipino ice cream parlour Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream landed in third place for its flavours like 'ube' (made with a native purple yam), the salty cheese-based 'queso', vegan-friendly kalamansi and the goth-tastic 'black buko' (coconut combined with activated charcoal made from the coconut shell). Two London restaurants are among the best in the world for 2025

With thousands and thousands of establishments to compete with, being named one of the best restaurants in London is an impressive feat in itself. So to be named one of the finest restaurants in the entire world (out of an estimated 15 million potential candidates), is pretty monumental. Every year, World's 50 Best Restaurants reveals its prestigious list of (guess what!) the 50 best restaurants on the planet, based on votes from more than 1000 industry experts. The 2025 ranking is being released later this month, but before that, World's Best has unveiled the restaurants ranked 51-100. And two London establishments were the only UK restaurants to make the cut. Mountain in Soho soared 20 places up from its ranking last year, coming in at number 74. Founded by chef Tomos Parry (the same guy behind Brat), Mountain was one of the city's most hyped restaurants when it launched in 2023. The judges called the menu at Mountain 'cutting edge and experimental', highlighting its 'spider crab omelette and beef sweetbreads sitting alongside mutton chops and the signature smoked potatoes'. London's second entry on the longlist sits at number 86: Shoreditch's two Michelin-star joint The Clove Club. The judges at 50 Best said: 'The Clove Club's interpretation of 'modern British' is refreshing and full of surprises, with produce from across the UK reinvented in creations that showcase natural flavours and playfully mingle with tradition.' Leonie Cooper, Time Out's food and drink editor, gave it a solid five stars when she visited last summer, lauding dishes like the 'soft nugget of pine-salt dusted buttermilk fried chicken served in a leafy wreath like some kind of pagan KFC' and the 'picture perfect sardine sashimi with tangy, ginger and chrysanthemum soy and a chaser of creamy bone broth on the side'. Last year, there were five restaurants repping London on the longlist. Places that didn't make a reappearance this year (so far) were Brat and Core by Clare Smyth. That means that they've either been promoted to the top 50, or that they've been bumped off the ranking altogether – only time will tell. Lyle's was also kicked off the list, but that's because it has now sadly closed. You can see the full 51-100 list here. The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 will be revealed in a ceremony on Thursday June 19. In the meantime, tuck into Time Out's indispensable guide to the very best places to eat in London and read why AJ Tracey and Big Zuu think 'London is becoming the food capital of the world'.

The best restaurant in London in 2025 has been crowned by Time Out

Over the past 12 months, Time Out's legion of expert food critics have eaten their way through the capital – trying gastropub roasts, sinking into sustainable menus, checking out exciting newcomers and discovering the best of its Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian and Chinese cuisine. Now, all of that hard work has culminated in the creation of Time Out's list of the 50 best restaurants in London for 2025. As Time Out's food and drink editor Leonie Cooper puts it, this is 'your indispensable guide to where you'll find the best food right at this moment in one of the world's most exciting places to eat'. And after countless dishes and a lot of deliberation, one restaurant rose above the rest to be named the best of the best. Our new number one London restaurant for 2025 is Hackney 's modern Korean joint, Miga. The restaurant moved to east London from New Malden in 2024 and has since become one of the city's most in demand spots. Leonie said: 'Miga is all about exhilarating dishes that smash your tastebuds with integrity and panache.' She added: 'Their landmark dish is yughwe, a ballsy beef tartare accessorised with skinny, crisp batons of Asian pear and a near-neon egg yolk. The soy braised short ribs and slices of pan-fried pork belly delivered in a glowing apple-and-mustard sauce are also must-orders.' For obvious reasons, securing a table at Miga is no easy feat. If you don't have a booking, your best bet is to turn up for lunch when walk-ins are more likely. Or, in the meantime you can check out one Time Out's other top 50 eateries. Our second best restaurant in the city for 2025 was Greek(ish) spot Oma in Borough Market and in third place was the UK's first ever Michelin-star vegan restaurant, Plates.
