The best burger in London, according to Time Out

Time Out2 days ago
Burgers are one of life's greatest pleasures. That combination of bread, succulent filling, oozy cheese and perhaps a pickle or two is so simple, but so darn good. With such a neat formula, there are thousands of spots across London with decent burgers on offer. But here at Time Out, we're interested in the outstanding.
Our professional food obsessives have powered through dozens of patties in the city to bring you our list of London's best burgers, updated for August 2025. And we're coming at you with a brand new number one.
Right now you'll find London's best burger at Dumbo. The Parisian burger brand opened its first international joint in Shoreditch earlier this summer and has already won Londoners over. Plus, at £10 it offers one of the cheapest cheeseburgers on our list.
Time Out food editor Leonie Cooper wrote: 'The sleek smashburgers at Dumbo offer the perfect charred lacy crust on the edges of super succulent dry-aged beef. Add the requisite slices of gleaming American cheese, before tangy, plump pickles. Then come unobtrusive smears of ketchup and mustard - it's better dressed than peak Chloë Sevigny – and you're got yourself a rightfully hyped new-wave burger titan.'
Claiming silver medal is the 'bona fide, utterly brilliant' Dexter cheeseburger from Four Legs at The Plimsoll. This cult classic keeps things super simple. It comes with a thin Dexter beef patty topped by melted cheese, burger sauce, finely minced onion and a generous heap of sweet pickles, all packed inside a glossy brioche bun. According to Leonie, 'you'll be swooning after the first mouthful'.
Then, in at number three is an absolute whopper – the colossal meaty bun from Dove. There are only 10 of these burgers served at the Ladbroke Grove restaurant each day. The thick 50-day dry aged beef patty is covered with silky onions that have been cooked in champagne and butter and a pungent blanket of gorgonzola. Such a hefty thing comes with a hefty price tag, though – it'll set you back £18.
Other burgers to make the cut on our new list include creations from Bleecker, Lagom and Manna.

Horror film with ‘greatest twist of all time' now available to stream

If you're a horror fan who gets a kick out of a good twist, this 2000s Nicole Kidman film is right up your street. Starring Oscar-winning Australian-American actress Kidman, 58, in the lead role of Grace, The Others is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, following a woman living on a family estate in the Channel Islands with her two photosensitive children. Set during World War II, Grace is awaiting news on her missing husband while attempting to protect her children from harm by the sun due to their rare disease. Things take a sinister turn, however, when Grace's mother, Anne (Alakina Mann), claims she is seeing ghosts, and while Grace initially brushes the spookiness off as their staff playing tricks, she soon comes to realise something far more menacing is at play. The 2001 supernatural flick is famous for its huge plot twist, which viewers have long branded one of the best in cinema. Thanks to its cast's performances and gripping story, The Others was a box office smash, grossing $210million (£182m) worldwide on a $17m (14.7m) budget. It was lauded by critics, earning 15 nominations and eight wins at the 16th Goya Awards, and becoming the first English-language film without a word of Spanish dialogue to triumph in the best film category at Spain's Goya Awards. Kidman was also recognised in other best actress categories for her role, including at the Golden Globes. Ultimately, the Alejandro Amenábar-directed horror is highly regarded as not just one of the 2000s' best movies but, for many, the greatest horror ever made. As for what fans have had to say, The Others, which was shot in northern Spain, has a respectable 77% audience score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as well as 84% from critics. Among the 250,000+ reviews, user Ry H branded it with 4.5 stars as recently as July 2025, writing: 'My favorite horror movie ever with one of the biggest twists that I never saw coming.' 'The Others lives up to the unpredictability hype, you can't guess what's happening. The characters are incredibly well-written. Their decisions, the plot makes sense until everything gets a new meaning', writes Mate P. 'Has to be the best suspense movie of all time, period. The acting and filming are fantastic', echoes Josh K. Julian S agrees: 'THE OTHERS finds Kidman at her most mesmerizing, carrying a chilling slow-burn thriller that builds to a twist so sharp, it leaves you breathless.' 'This one still holds up as one of the great supernatural thrillers. Great twist, wonderful acting, especially by the children', pens Jason W. Others praise the fright flick for its ability to build tension and create a dread-filled atmosphere, with many compelled to watch for a second time after the twist is uncovered, forcing them to rethink everything they thought they knew. More Trending The Others is one of many of Kidman's projects in the horror and thriller genres, as she's also had roles in The Invasion (2007), Before I Go to Sleep (2014), and The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), to name a few. She recently starred in 2025's Holland, alongside Matthew Macfadyen and Gael García Bernal, playing a mother who, upon unearthing her husband's infidelity, discovers her picture-perfect life was full of secrets. Of course, Kidman also famously plays the lead in Nine Perfect Strangers, a thriller drama series that recently dropped a second season. The Others is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video. Just ask the famous faces who have been descending on our shores and picking up a home-grown lad as a souvenir. Globally, Google searches for 'British men' went up 21 per cent over the past year. And according to dating site 65 per cent of its 108,000 members are American women. Meanwhile, US director Lena Dunham's new semi-autobiographical Netflix drama, Too Much, tells the story of a New York woman who moves to London following a break-up and falls for an English musician. Just a few of the stars following in her footsteps and bagging a Brit hunk are singer Olivia Rodrigo, actress Zendaya, and billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz, who earlier this month renewed her wedding vows with Brooklyn Beckham. More recently, Love Island UK's first transatlantic winner Toni Laites admitted that she sees 'no reason to be in America any more' after falling for East London lad Cach Mercer on the ITV show. Here are seven of the British men who have proved irresistible to US celebs. Tom Holland opens up about 'one day becoming a dad' as GMA shares sweet photo of star with girlfriend Zendaya Louis Partridge and Olivia Rodrigo 8 US singer Olivia Rodrigo has fallen for Brit actor Louis Partridge Credit: Getty TAKING to the stage at Glastonbury in June, Drivers License singer Olivia made her allegiances known. 'I love England so much,' the Californian told the 120,000-strong crowd. 'I love how nobody judges you for having a pint at noon. I love English sweets… and, as luck would have it, I love English boys.' Specifically, she loves one English boy – actor Louis Partridge. The pair, both 22, first sparked romance rumours in October 2023, when they were pictured with their arms around the other's waist in London. They then made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Venice Film Festival in August 2024, where Louis was promoting his TV series, Disclaimer. The pair have more recently been spotted together at Wimbledon. They have mostly remained coy about their relationship, with Londoner Louis telling British Vogue last year: 'Dating probably shouldn't be done in the public eye… I think she's got tons and tons of eyes on her case.' So Olivia's very public tribute to the Enola Holmes star on stage at the Worthy Farm festival is testament to their strong feelings. Tom Holland and Zendaya 8 Zendaya has moved from California to London to be with Brit Tom Holland Credit: Getty ONE of our most famous transatlantic couples, Tom and Zendaya got engaged earlier this year, with the British actor proposing with a £200,000 ring. Since meeting Tom, 29, on the set of Spider-Man in 2016, Zendaya, 28, has proved herself to be a true anglophile. She has moved from California to Richmond, South West London, where the pair reside in a £3million mansion close to where he grew up. Residents are said to leave them alone and they are frequently spotted walking around Richmond Park. Last year Zendaya, 28, confirmed she is Tom's biggest fan, paying tribute to her man while promoting her own movie, Dune 2. 'I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not on the Dune cast, but personally works for me, is Mr Tom Holland,' she said, adding that 'he's great at just talking to people, getting to know people.' And last week Zendaya was spotted supporting Tom while he filmed scenes for their upcoming Spider-Man flick in Surrey. Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel 8 Londoner Matty Healy is engaged to Californian Gabbriette HE did not receive a glowing review from his American ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, who slammed him in songs The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can). But Londoner Matty's charms have fared better on Californian Gabbriette, 28. The 1975 frontman, 36, started dating the model in 2023 and they got engaged last year. But Gabbriette has revealed they are in no rush to wed. 'It might take a while because I'm bad at planning stuff,' she said last month. 'But the wedding bells are somewhere up there.' Meanwhile, the model has another fan in Matty's famous mum, Denise Welch. The Loose Women star recently appeared on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live! and took the opportunity to pay tribute to her future daughter-in-law, while also taking a subtle swipe at Taylor. 'Matty has taken it all in completely good grace,' she said. 'He's very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabbriette – who is gorgeous – so we've moved on.' Leo Woodall and Meghann Fahy 8 Meghann and Leo have a 'great deal in common' despite their hometowns being worlds away Credit: Getty AS co-stars on season two of The White Lotus in 2022, Meghann and Leo had their fair share of on-screen romance with other people. But it was not long until they only had eyes for each other – and after the private pair were spotted kissing in New York in 2023, they finally hard launched their relationship on social media in early 2024. Though her hometown of Massachusetts is worlds away from Leo's West London roots, Meghann, 35, has said they have a great deal in common – not least their high-profile careers. She revealed earlier this year: 'I think that it's just really great to be deeply understood… There's so many weird things about this industry and what we do, so I think there's just something really lovely about being with somebody who really gets that.' As for Leo, 28, he has called their relationship his 'safe space,' which leaves little confusion as to why, like Bridget Jones in the series' latest film, Meghann is Mad About The Boy. Harry Charles and Eve Jobs 8 Eve Jobs looked across the Atlantic to find her happy-ever-after with Team GB champion Harry Charles Credit: Instagram SHE is the American heiress who could have her pick of any fella in her home country. But Eve Jobs – the daughter of late Apple founder Steve – looked across the Atlantic to find her happy-ever-after with Team GB champion Harry Charles, 26. As an accomplished equestrian – once ranked the world's fifth best rider under-25 – it is no wonder Eve, 27, has fallen for the Olympic-gold showjumper, from Hampshire. The pair reportedly met due to their shared love of horses and started dating in 2022. They got engaged two years later, around the same time the former Tatler It Girl and model was cheering Harry on at the 2024 Paris Games. The couple wed last month in a lavish £5million wedding in the Cotswolds, with a celebrity guest list including former US Vice President Kamala Harris. Last week Eve shared their first official wedding portrait, telling her social media followers it had been 'the most magical week'. George Rollinson and Ashley Roberts 8 Ashley has been loved up with Brit artist and tattooist George since 2023 Credit: GC Images RADIO host Ashley made the UK her home many years ago, but she didn't initially commit to the British-boy assignment – famously dating Italian stallion Giovanni Pernice in 2018. The former Pussycat Doll, 43, has since discovered the local fare and has been loved up with artist and tattooist George, 25, since 2023. The pair went public in early 2024 and have posted snaps from holidays to Dubai and Italy, as well as their visit across the pond to see Ashley's family in Phoenix, Arizona. Ashley said last year: 'American men are overwhelming, they are too much. I'm like, you need to calm down.' And she is not the only Pussycat Doll singer to fall for a British man. Hawaiian Nicole Scherzinger, 47, is engaged to 40-year-old Scottish former rugby player Thom Evans. And Missouri-born Kimberly Wyatt has been married to singer Max Rogers, both 43, since 2014. Nathan Louis-Fernand and Rachel Zegler 8 Snow White actress Rachel is dating Londoner Nathan SHE is currently taking the West End by storm as the leading lady in musical Evita. But off-stage, Rachel is making sweet, sweet music with co-star and back-up dancer Nathan. The 24-year-old has temporarily relocated to London for the show – and it seems the New Jersey-born star is enjoying the local delights. The Snow White actress was pictured kissing Londoner Nathan, 27, last month at Sabrina Carpenter's headline gig at the BST Hyde Park Music Festival on July 6. In the weeks since, Rachel has posted snaps of Louis on her Instagram, including a blurry photo of them embracing one another and another of him kissing her cheek. The pair were also seen walking Rachel's dog in London's Primrose Hill two weeks ago, with Louis wrapping his arm around the actress.

Antiques Roadshow's Fiona Bruce makes announcement minutes into show

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info During the latest episode of Antiques Roadshow, viewers witnessed host Fiona Bruce deliver a special announcement just minutes into the programme. As the BBC programme commenced, which recently saw one item get a huge valuation, audiences observed footage from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, home to more than 400 memorials honouring those who served in the armed forces and civilian organisations. A voiceover from Fiona could be heard before she appeared on screen as she said: "On the 8th of May 1945, celebrations broke out across the country to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe. "But for many, this was just the beginning of the end. Germany and Italy may have been defeated, but the war against Japan was to rage on for another three months." The BBC presenter outlined that the programme was visiting Staffordshire for this special edition, exploring tales from WWII in what was then referred to as the far east, reports the Express. (Image: BBC) Nevertheless, before the show properly commenced, Fiona revealed there would be a significant format alteration from what viewers are accustomed to. She said: "Given the very personal and moving stories you're going to hear, our experts won't be offering any valuations on the items you'll be seeing. "To the owners, these things are priceless, and they offer a poignant insight into some of the darkest events of our past." Meanwhile, the BBC presenter detailed how the conflict in the Far East and the Second World War concluded following the deployment of the 'ultimate weapon', the atomic bomb. (Image: BBC) Fiona continued: "Two atomic bombs were dropped by the US on the Japanese mainland in August 1945. "Since then, victory over Japan, or VJ Day, has been marked on August 15. 80 years on in a special commemorative episode, we'll relive key moments from the conflict, through the items you've shared with us." Throughout the programme, expert Siobhan Tyrrell became fascinated when speaking to two gentlemen about the 'rare' artefact they owned, which had been preserved by a serviceman stationed in Burma at the outbreak of hostilities. The pair possessed an original newspaper cutting from the Rangoon Gazette, printed the day following the Japanese assault on the American naval fleet at Pearl Harbor. (Image: BBC) Keen to understand how they acquired the piece, one gentleman revealed they discovered it amongst their late father's belongings, explaining that he had never discussed his wartime experiences with them. He disclosed that his father served with the RAF and was deployed to Burma from 1941. The sons also uncovered that within their father's effects was a photographic album chronicling his complete wartime journey. Siobhan remarked: "Isn't it great that he managed to keep this! I can't imagine that there are many that have survived and it's just an amazing record." Antiques Roadshow is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
