Beyoncé's real 'Levii's Jeans' are ready for purchase: How to shop Levi's collab

Beyoncé's latest collab is here, and it's denim on denim on denim. The freshly christened country music superstar released a new line of jeans in partnership with iconic denim house Levi's on Aug. 7, offering fans a chance to sport styles designed by Queen Bey herself. The collaboration – which includes several pairs of rhinestone-embroidered, lightwash pants and some trucker jackets – draws inspiration from the singer's most recent album, "Cowboy Carter," a soulful sojourn into the country music genre and the complicated history of America. Dubbed "The Denim Cowboy," the collection was advertised with a western-inspired video promo, set to the tune of Beyoncé's "Levii's Jeans," a mid-album ode to the stiff and worn fabric that clings to the curvature of a body. As part of the collab, fans can buy graphic T-shirts with the denim company's name spelled "Levii's" in tribute to the track featuring Post Malone. Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle jeans ad sparks controversy: Here's why How to shop Beyonce, Levi's collection The collaboration is available to shop now on the Levi's website. Collab comes amid Sydney Sweeney American Eagles jeans ad controversy The collection arrives against the backdrop of a contentious conversation about denim advertisements. Last month, actress Sydney Sweeney released an ad in partnership with American Eagle for a line of jeans that many critics lambasted. In one of several videos for the campaign, Sweeney, tells cameras, "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color." The Age of the Rhinestone Cowgirl: How Beyoncé brings glitz to the Wild Wild West "My jeans are blue," she continued, with jeans doing double duty as the camera panned across both her true blue denim fit and her blue eyes. Critics argued that the use of Sweeney, a white, thin, blonde woman with blue eyes, as the archetype of "good genes" bordered on eugenic thinking, contributing to a well-worn glorification of whiteness in the beauty industry. American Eagle later commented on the controversy, saying: "'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone." That the controversy stemmed from a denim ad, and one from a company with "American" in the name, further complicated the reception. Americana and denim have always gone hand in hand. Beyoncé's campaign, however, offers an entirely different image, casting a Black woman as the cowboy and queen of the American West, winning in smoky pool joints and catching eyes at her local laundromat.

Beyoncé Cowboy Carter tour drives UK surge in Western fashion searches says Debenhams Group

Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour — which arrived in London last week — has sparked a boom in Western-themed items, according to data from Debenhams Group, whose brands 'have seen a surge in demand' for such items from fans. At PrettyLittleThing, searches for 'Cowboy jackets' surged 617% in May and Boohoo recorded a 166% increase in denim top sales last month. At the company's Nasty Gal brand, 'sequins' topped search terms in the week leading up to the opening date. Sales for Chocolate Calf-High Western Boots were also up 268% in the last month at PrettyLittleThing. The company owns a vast range of brands (including Debenhams itself, plus Karen Millen and Boohoo Man) and also said that overall searches for cowboy hats (+85%) and boots (+53%) underlined the appeal of the theme. The PrettyLittleThing youth brand also saw a 75% jump in accessory sales in the last month, with items like studded belts and fringe bags appealing to thousands of customers. At urban fashion brand Nasty Gal, that sequin obsession saw the search term overtaking 'bikinis' and 'co-ords' as the top search in the pre-tour week, closely followed by 'western' and 'cowboy', which both saw a 40% increase in searches compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, Boohoo womenswear saw an uplift in searches of 40% month-on-month for 'Jorts' and denim shorts 'as fans pay tribute to Beyoncé's hit' Levii's Jeans. The brand saw suede jacket sales rising 271%, denim tops up 166% as mentioned, cowboy hats rising 58% and cowboy-themed T-shirt sales up 33%. Dan Finley, CEO of Debenhams Group, said: 'Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour is proving to be a powerful cultural catalyst, reshaping style trends almost overnight. Customers are moving from inspiration to purchase faster than ever – trading typical staples for cowboy boots and denim as western fashion takes centre stage. It's a clear sign of how swiftly cultural movements translate into retail trends and why agility, relevance, and the ability to respond at speed are essential to modern retail.'

What to wear to Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter UK shows — all the inspo you need

Ms Beyoncé Knowles-Carter will be touching down in London from 5th June and honestly, we couldn't be more ready. With six nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the whole of the UK is going to need to get rodeo ready — even if they didn't manage to snag a ticket. With such a clear tour theme, as well as striking album visuals, comes the opportunity to really dress up. Think Western, Americana, Ranch-core — it's time to live that fantasy, baby! Below, we've rounded up some major look inspo to add to your moodboard, whatever your style and budget. "Denim on denim, on denim, on denim / Give you high fashion in a simple white tee" sings Beyoncé on her track Levii's Jeans. With quite literal instructions (and examples, thanks to her campaign with Levi's from last year) this is a Cowboy Carter outfit everyone can try. You can even buy the denim cowboy hat worn by Bey, which gives mega Britney and Justin vibes for all my Milliennials. Pop references on top of pop references! Jackets, shirts, shorts — anything and everything can have fringing applied to it. It adds a little drama to a look, which can be exemplified with some interspersed beads and sequins. More is more in our book. Originally added to cowboy's garments to help shed water, make them dry faster and act as extra material to be cut off and used as strapping or repairs, fringing is multi-functional as well as fashionable. Who knew? Last April, Bey wore a vintage Versace full leather ensemble to accept her Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards — completely embodying the spirit of the Cowboy Carter album. Accentuated by all over gold rivets, studs and rhinestones, the outfit was the perfect balance of tough glamour. We bow down. For the concert, opt for a jacket you can take off so you don't overheat, and shorter hemlines to make sure you can move. Practicality is key! Cowboy boots are never out of style — they're perfect for every day, festivals, and of course, a cowboy themed arena tour. If you haven't yet invested in a pair, now might just be the perfect time. Not a boots kind of gal? Opt for a mule version instead; easy to slip on, and the perfect companion to a pair of jeans. It's an obvious one to include but…here we are. Not all cowboy hats are created equal — pink and fluffy will make you look like you're on a hen-do. A more classic style like Bey's will hopefully mean it lives beyond the concert date (the less single wear fashion the better). Or channel a more Americana vibe with a trucker cap instead. Last but certainly not least, if there ever was a place to heavily accessorise, this is it. Belts, jewellery, bandanas and Cowboy Carter sashes should be worn in abundance. This is Queen B we are talking about, after all — don't do anything by halves! Rebecca Jane Hill is the Senior Fashion Editor at Cosmopolitan UK.
