Pacers unveil special concession foods for remaining home Finals games
Exciting things are happening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse these days. The Indiana Pacers are competing for their first NBA championship in franchise history, sure, but perhaps just as importantly, spectators at Gainbridge Fieldhouse can chow down on some special concession items to mark the historic occasion. The Pacers and food partner Levy Restaurants on June 12 unveiled six special dishes that will be available at Game 4 of the NBA Finals versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday (and, if necessary, Game 6 on June 19). Levy Restaurants executive chef Charles Humphreys said the limited-edition concessions will only be available for the Pacers' remaining Finals home games. A taste of these stadium bites essentially requires one of the city's priciest passes, with Game 4 tickets fetching around $850 to $3,000 on Ticketmaster. These are the special concessions items to look out for if you manage to snag an in-person view of the Pacers' title push and have some discretionary income remaining. The Boomer Stacker This monument to the meat and dairy industries features two smashed hamburger patties, a small fried pork tenderloin, double sharp cheddar cheese, bacon strips, fried onions and a drizzle of barbecue ranch. Indiana Porkster If you didn't know Indiana is one of the nation's biggest pork producers, this behemoth on a bun should erase any doubt. Pig appears in four different forms on the Indiana Porkster, piling a fried tenderloin atop bratwurst simmered in Sun King Osiris Pale Ale, thick-cut bacon and a bacon onion jam, plus a drizzle of whole grain mustard. Ahi tuna poke nachos Humphreys' personal favorite dish features nacho-shaped wontons, truffle Sriracha aioli, green onion and toasted sesame seed with soft cubes of raw ahi tuna. Three Point Combo Play A foot-long garlic butter toasted baguette is topped with chicken parmesan, meatballs, Provolone cheese and pomodoro, plus Italian beef and provolone cheese. Bone-in short rib sandwich Short rib smoked for 10 hours receives a sweet barbecue glaze, bread and butter pickles and apple cider vinegar slaw. Notably, despite the sandwich's name, the bone is removed before being served. Pork belly and cheese curd link Smoking Goose pork belly and white cheese enveloped in a snapping casing join caramelized onion and spicy brown mustard atop a toasted brioche hot dog bun.

Food reporter Steve Dolinsky exits NBC 5 for Levy Restaurants
After three decades on local television, food reporter Steve Dolinsky is calling it quits. The latest: Dolinsky announced Monday he is leaving NBC 5 to join Levy Restaurants. He will be a culinary connector and collaborator across Levy, which operates food service at restaurants, stadiums and convention centers. What they're saying: "Thirty years covering the same beat in the third largest market is quite a run," Dolinsky tells Axios. "I can't wait to deploy all of my skills for Levy, while still getting to do what I love but now getting to approach things on a national scale." Flashback: Dolinsky started his career reporting on Chicago's food scene at CLTV in the mid-'90s. In the 2000s, he became the lead food reporter at ABC 7. He left the station for NBC 5 in 2021. He also reported for Chicago radio station WBEZ. Zoom in: Dolinsky has been an advocate for Chicago's foodie scene, which exploded during his time covering it. He has won 13 James Beard awards and two Emmys. Zoom out: Chicago news stations have significantly shrunk their coverage of food. Dolinsky was one of the last reporters dedicated to covering the culinary arts, as most stations have moved coverage to general reporters.

A $50 million magic theater is coming to Chicago's Magnificent Mile
Magnificent Mile in Streeterville has long been home to designer fashion, Michelin-starred dining, and annual an Art Festival. Soon, the famed district will enchant visitors with a sprawling $50 million magical theater destination called The Hand & The Eye. Brainchild of Chicago healthcare entrepreneur Glen Tullman, the sorcery will span 36,000 square feet of the historic McCormick Mansion (formerly home to Lawry's Prime Rib), including not one but seven theaters, multiple bars, and a massive dining space—all dedicated to the art of illusion. "This is not some six-month pop-up thing. This is a once-in-a-generation project,' Tullman told The Chicago Tribune. Guests will move among multiple upscale, all-adult experiences, ranging from live jazz sets to illusions by self-proclaimed "curator of magic" Jeff Kaylor. Bars will be equipped for sleight-of-hand drink slinging, a nod to Chi-Town's rich history of magician-barkeeps. No word on food menu specifics just yet, but Levy Restaurants CEO Andy Lansing equated it to "Pump Room in its heyday." "We want to open up people's imaginations," Kaylor told the Tribune. "And create a place where every magician in the world wants to perform." Visitors will purchase a single inclusive ticket for timed reservations at a premium price point yet to be determined. Could dinner be served in the famed fourth-floor ballroom, which hosted upwards of 400 guests and visiting royalty in its early days?! Either way, expect a dress code. Club memberships will be available to residents and regulars, à la Soho House, offering access to the venue's various bars and stages through a dedicated entrance. Members must first learn a magic trick before the bewitching can begin. As for the renovations, antiquities aficionados will be glad to know the mansion's original grand staircase and fireplace will remain intact, as will its historic exterior, which dates to 1899. History, in fact, plays a huge part: At various moments in lifetime, the house boasted a puppet theater and members-only nightclub called the Continental Casino. Set to debut in March 2026, The Hand & The Eye is slated to be open nightly from 5pm to midnight. Eventually, weekend brunches and daytime hours may roll out for more family-friendly performances. Need your fix now? Head to Chicago Magic Lounge in Andersonville, Rhapsody Theatre in Rogers Park Petterino's Restaurant.
