Former NFLer Taylor Lewan's first pitch at Cardinals game was an utter disaster: ‘Worst day'

Taylor Lewan is giving 50 Cent a run for his money. The former Titans offensive tackle threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Cardinals' game Thursday against the Royals and it did not go well — instantly triggering memories of Fiddys infamous first pitch at a Mets game more than 10 years ago. The 6-foot-7 lefty began his windup that looked very prim and proper. Advertisement 5 Well, this one wasn't a strike. @woodwardsports/X 5 Taylor Lewan's pitch flies just a bit outside. Bussin' With The Boys/X Advertisement But when Lewan released the ball, fans had to duck out of the way as the pitch was just a bit outside — that's if multiple feet wide of even the outermost part of the left-handed batter's box is considered 'just a bit outside.' Lewan instantly threw his hat to the ground in disgust with himself, sulked off the mound and forced himself to do push-ups as a punishment for the brutal pitch. He then ran to social media to warn everybody of the avalanche of trolling that was forthcoming. 5 Taylor Lewan winds up for his first pitch. Bussin' With The Boys/X Advertisement 5 Taylor Lewan is disappointed after his first pitch. Bussin' With The Boys/X 'Currently at the Cardinals game, and there's something I need to get ahead of,' he wrote on X. 'A video will be surfacing of me throwing a pitch from the mound. Let's just say… the haters are going to have an absolute field day.' 5 Taylor Lewan was a staple on the Titans' offensive line for nearly 10 seasons. Getty Images Advertisement He wasn't wrong, as the trolls wasted no time. Lewan played nine seasons in the NFL, all for the Titans. The three-time Pro Bowler had his ups and downs — but none of those downs quite compared to his first pitch. 'This is the worst day of my athletic career and that includes the Chandler Jones game,' Lewan posted to X. And that's saying something. Chandler Jones once sacked Lewan's quarterback Ryan Tannehill an absurd five times in one game. Advertisement Perhaps it's just that he gets some points for the solid windup, but Lewan's pitch (somehow) still didn't look quite as bad as 50 Cent's — but you'd expect a tad better from a former professional athlete. 'I need redemption,' Lewan said.

Former All-American offensive lineman believes Nebraska should make changes to helmet

Former All-American offensive lineman believes Nebraska should make changes to helmet A former Pro Bowl offensive lineman doesn't appear to be a fan of Nebraska's helmet design. Former Michigan Wolverine Taylor Lewan posted a short clip of a recent visit to the Husker football facility on social media. Lewan is a three-time Pro Bowler who played all eight seasons of his career for the Tennessee Titans. Since retiring, he has hosted the podcast 'Bussin' With The Boys' with former Titans teammate and Nebraska linebacker Will Compton. Lewan's post regarding the helmet came with the following warning. "Nebraska fans are gonna be mad about the way I talk about the N, but unfortunately, I'm not wrong. Love Nebraska, love the fans but the N is just too small for the helmet." At the start of the 1970 college football season, the Nebraska Cornhuskers debuted their new helmet: a classic white helmet with a red stripe down the middle and an N centered on both sides. For the last 50-plus years, the helmet has remained the same in one form or another. Lewan believes the time has come for some kind of change. "They've got to do something about that N. Black, white, red, all the colors are great. I love the color scheme of Nebraska. Real fans are going to hate this but there is just something about that Time New Roman bold. It doesn't have the presentation I want it to have." I can understand where an outsider might see the current design as boring and needing an upgrade, but as a traditionalist, I like the helmet just the way it is. Nebraska has worn the rare one-off alternative design. The 2012 Wisconsin game featured the same helmet design but a black helmet instead of a white one, and the 2013 UCLA game featured the traditional white helmet design but a black stripe down the center instead of a red stripe. Other one-off designs featured a 2014 game against Illinois in which the Huskers wore a two-tone red and black helmet with a black N. The most unique design came in 2018 when Nebraska wore a helmet that honored the leather helmets from the early days of college football. While the traditional helmet design may be simple, it's also iconic. The helmet is immediately identifiable to most college football fans. Any significant changes would ignore decades of history, while any minor changes would be seen as change solely for the sake of change. Former Titans player Taylor Lewan is taking Netflix reality stars to 'Battle Camp': Who's in the cast, how to watch

Former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan has announced he will be hosting a new Netflix reality series titled "Battle Camp" premiering on the streaming platform on April 23. The show will feature 18 Netflix reality universe contestants, all competing in a series of challenges to win one "life-changing cash prize." Viewers will recognize contestants from popular programs like "Love is Blind," "The Circle" and "Perfect Match." "The cast was amazing to be around, but the production team was something I'd never seen before," wrote Lewan on social media on Wednesday. "A staff of over 400 people, all working together to create the best product possible, while trusting a football player with fake teeth to facilitate and drive this new show." Here's what else to know about Lewan and "Battle Camp." After being drafted by the Titans in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft, Lewan spent nine seasons with the team before being released in 2023. During his time with the NFL, Lewan was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls between 2016 and 2019. Lewan, known for chugging beer from catfish while cheering on the Nashville Predators, also co-hosts the Barstool Sports podcast "Bussin' With The Boys" with former Titans linebacker Will Compton. Initially, Lewan was skeptical about hosting a reality TV show. But according to his post on X, his skepticism faded when he realized Netflix was behind the offer. "After a couple of meetings and 14 days later, I was on a plane to film Battle Camp (working title at the time)," he wrote. "It was 30+ days of late nights and early mornings, trying to figure out how to swim in this brand-new ocean." "Battle Camp" is a "Survivor" style reality TV series starring 18 Netflix personalities who will fight for their chance to live another day at camp, where they will compete in challenges in the hope of being the last one standing and winning a grand prize of $250,000. According to Netflix, Lewan will act as both coach and camp counselor. In addition to hosting, the former athlete will help guide players through the twists and turns of the game, which includes a giant spinning wheel that decides who must head home empty-handed. "Battle Camp" will be available to stream on Netflix April 23. The show will feature 18 contestants from across the reality TV world.
