adidas Originals unveils Adizero Goukana, powered by Championship Marathon Technology
In an exciting debut that represents a fresh chapter, adidas Originals introduces the Adizero Goukana that seamlessly blends the brand's rich performance heritage with the vibrant energy of contemporary street culture. Image courtesy of adidas Originals. Goukana, meaning luxurious and plush in Japanese, was intentionally chosen to pay homage to the Adizero franchise's Japanese heritage and specifically honours Mr Toshiaki Omori, the legendary Japanese shoe designer who created the original Adizero. While not designed as a running shoe, the Goukana delivers exceptional performance capabilities that hold up to active wear featuring the innovative Lightstrike cushioning — the exact same responsive technology found in adidas' championship-winning marathon shoes and elite basketball court models worn by professional athletes. The shoe's bold aesthetic includes a bulbous sole unit specifically engineered to complement today's baggier silhouettes, while the upper of the shoe showcases a premium blend of suede, mesh, and reflective silver synthetics. A key feature of the Adizero Goukana is the vibrant yellow colourway which draws direct inspiration from both the original Adios Neftenga and the dynamic energy of car racing culture. Designed by adidas' dynamic creative team based in Los Angeles, the Adizero Goukana also reflects the city's diverse cultural landscape and energy. The Adizero Goukana is now available online at and through the CONFIRMED app.

Tate McRae and Soccer Star Bradley Barcola Help Adidas' Sportswear Debut New Running-Inspired Footwear, Lightblaze
Adidas Sportswear has launched its new Lightblaze sneaker line, with the first model dropping today. The shoe is designed for comfort and style, catering to those with active lifestyles who want to look good while on the move. The campaign features singer Tate McRae and soccer player Bradley Barcola, showcasing how the shoe blends athletic performance with fashion-forward style. With monochromatic color blocking, lifestyle characteristics, and bold three-stripe branding, Lightblaze elevates any minimalist or casual look. The upper features a mix of suede, leather, and mesh for added texture, while the full-length Lightstrike midsole provides lightweight cushioning and responsiveness for all-day wear. The full-length rubber outsole ensures maximum grip and durability. More from Footwear News Puma's New Sneaker Collab Looks Like It's Floating in Mid-Air Dior Pumps Up the Volume With New B35 NXXT Sneaker That Puts Contemporary Spin on Brand Heritage McRae said, 'When pulling together my everyday look, my footwear choice is always so important. From tour rehearsals to meeting friends for dinner, I need a shoe that can take me from day to night and promise me ultimate comfort, which is why I am a huge fan of Adidas Sportswear's new Lightblaze model. Stylish, comfy, and perfect to mix and match with all my fits.' The pop singer's fashion choices continue to draw inspiration from 90's pop icons. Featured in Adidas' Lightblaze sportswear campaign, McRae embraced Y2K fashion, sporting a belly chain with her athletic ensemble featuring a classic tank and baggy cargos. It's no secret that belly chains were a popular accessory in the late 1990s and early 2000s, often seen on celebrities like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyoncé. Altogether, her look showcased a quintessential Y2K vibe. Aimee Arana, Global Senior Vice President Adidas Sportswear and Training, echoed McRae's sentiments, saying, 'Adidas Sportswear translates innovation from the field of play into modern lifestyle products, and this is exactly how we approached the creation of Lightblaze. We know our consumers have fast-paced lives and want lightweight comfort in their footwear, so we brought technology from our record-breaking Adizero running shoes into the lifestyle world to provide responsive cushioning, all day every day.' The Lightblaze family will transcend seasons to become the must-have sneaker for everyday movement, with fresh new colorways and updated silhouettes dropping in 2025. The first Lightblaze model is now available in stores, on the Adidas website, and via the Adidas app. Adidas History: 15 of the Brand's Most Momentous Firsts View Gallery15 Images Launch Gallery: All the Items Available at the Adidas Originals x Willy Chavarria Paris Pop-Up, PHOTOS Best of Footwear News NBA All-Star Weekend's Most Iconic Sneakers of All Time Super Bowl Halftime Show Shoes Through the Years: From Michael Jackson's Loafers to Rihanna's MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Sneakers Roger Vivier's Belle Vivier Pumps Through the Years: From Jackie Kennedy to Melania Trump [PHOTOS]
