It's Tipperary's year says super fan... in Kildare

A Tipperary super fan is backing her team to 'top Cork' in this Sunday's Senior Hurling All-Ireland championship. And Beatrice Landers has declared her allegiance with some unusual decorations outside her Kildare home. Ms Landers, originally from the Premier County, has lived in Maynooth, Co. Kildare for the last 42 years with her Limerick-supporting husband. Each year, the couple adorn their home with county bunting and flags as well as a home-made mannequin in a helmet and jersey, holding a hurl. A Tipperary super fan is backing her team to 'top Cork' in this Sunday's Senior Hurling All-Ireland championship. This year, Ms Landers is calling it for her home county: 'It's going to be Tipperary's glory year.' 'My husband is from Limerick so we've had to endure the Limerick colours for the last few years. It's amazing to have the Blue and Gold up,' she told the Irish Mail on Sunday. 'It's time Tipperary came out of the hole and took over,' she added, explaining that she made the mannequin 'years ago' from old sheets and blankets. 'It's dressed in a painting suit and I've just used a helmet and, for hair, a mop on his head – which is a balloon.' Despite her firm, lifelong Tipp allegiance, Ms Landers seems to have a soft spot for the Lilywhites as well, saying the people of Kildare are 'delighted' to be the current home of the Joe McDonagh Cup in hurling and Tailteann Cup in football. 'The people of Kildare, the people in Maynooth are so delighted. It's a great win, great for football in Kildare and a sign of future things to come.'
