Shirtless Rob Lowe, 61, looks youthful on a run after Hollywood tour embarrassingly mistook him for another star
Rob Lowe was spotted staying active over Easter weekend as he went for a shirtless beach run in Montecito. The former child star — who marked his 61st birthday on March 17 — looked fit and youthful as he flashed his toned torso, adding red shorts and a red baseball cap. Despite the Hollywood star's enduring looks and long run of popular film and television appearances, he was recently mistaken for another star. Lowe revealed last week on Instagram that a tour guide driving through Hollywood had hilariously mixed him up with Full House star John Stamos. For his workout on Sunday, the Outsiders actor — who recent taunted Nicole Kidman over one of her risqué roles — wore his hat backwards, letting the sun hit his tanned face and grizzled goatee. The father-of-two, who shares sons Matthew, 32, and John, 29, with 63-year-old wife Sheryl Berkoff, bared his tattooed biceps and sported a long chain with a cross pendant. He tucked a blue T-shirt into the waistband of his shorts while hitting the sand in a pair of dark sneakers. Last week, Rob shared a video of an embarrassing run-in with a drive-by Hollywood tour. The guide was driving a van full of spectators when he pulled over in front of the Parks And Recreation star and announced, 'This is John Stamos.' Rob turned to the camera with a miffed expression and mouthed, 'What the f***?' The tour conductor then teased, 'He looks like him,' before the St. Elmo's Fire sensation approached the vehicle and asked, 'OK, guys, am I John Stamos?' The passengers cheered 'no' in unison, prompting Rob to ask: 'Who am I?' Scattered voices shouted out his name, to which he emphatically replied, 'Thank you!' In the caption he tagged his younger son to question if he was being pranked, writing, '@johnnylowe am I being Punk'd?' Johny playfully replied in the comments: 'The people have spoken.' Stamos recently got himself into hot water after being the MC at a fundraiser for nurses held at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago property. Rob is staying busy by hosting the podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe, where he regularly welcomes A-list guests including Adam Scott, Jason Isaac, and Kristin Davis. He is also the face of the Tubi game show The Floor. Earlier this year, Lowe helped his younger brother Chad Lowe cope with losing his home in the deadly Los Angeles fires. 'My brother unfortunately... Chad lost his home — everything in it. His entire neighborhood, gone,' he told ET in July. 'He has three little girls. All their friends lost everything,' he added. Rob shared that he opened up his closet to Chad, 57, offering him 'big brother hand-me-downs.' 'He got a lot of big brother hand-me-downs. He's back to being 15-years-old,' the former teen heartthrob noted.

Rob Lowe swears by Clint Eastwood's aging hack
Rob Lowe has received aging advice from two men in his life, one being Clint Eastwood, as he continues to take on his 60s. While speaking with AARP, Lowe explained that an unnamed 70-year-old "idol" of his had advised him to "dial it down" as he gets older. In typical Lowe fashion, he decided to "dial it up" instead. This mentality led him to become seriously injured over the holidays. Lowe told the outlet that he had been surfing in Hawaii over Christmas and had fallen on a wave that he had "no business" being on. He separated a rib during the fall, and it still hasn't healed. "Never let the old man in." Even after the injury, Lowe decided to continue to live by the motto that another person – Eastwood – told him: "Never let the old man in." In August, Lowe talked to Howard Stern on his show about his philosophy on aging. "I've been trying to be the best I can be since I was eight years old," he said on the "Howard Stern Show." "It's not just physical. People always say, 'What does it mean to be youthful and all of that?' And honestly, I get the sense that you know this: It's an inside job. "Like, think about what's youthful: Youthful are kids, and what are kids? They're curious, they're enthusiastic, they're active, they're interested, they're interesting, and they're not checked-out. As we get older, those are harder and harder and harder for us to do," Lowe said. "So you don't have those qualities, it doesn't make a f–king difference if you've got a great-looking face and a 32-inch waist; no one's going to say you're youthful," he concluded. Ahead of his 60th birthday in March 2024, Lowe told "The Healthy by Readers Digest" what he was most looking forward to in the next decade. "I remember 40, I remember 50, and going into 60 feels exactly like that did early on. You're like, Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. And then as you get closer, I'm psyched. "Each year we get, we're lucky. A lot of people don't get [birthdays], and I feel like I'm the best version of myself that I've ever been," Lowe told the outlet at the time. "I felt that way at 40 and 50. If one keeps exploring and pushing and challenging themselves and staying interested and interesting, then age really is nothing but a number." Now, Lowe is looking forward to welcoming some grandchildren. The actor and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, share two sons: Matthew, 32, and John Owen, 29. He's even spent some time deciding what his future grandkids will call him. During his interview with AARP, he suggested readers call into his podcast, "Literally! With Rob Lowe," of some possible grandfatherly names. "I have a probably overly inappropriate interest in my sons' love lives—because I'm angling for grandkids. It better happen!" Lowe told AARP.

Rob Lowe was 'required' to film steamy sex scenes in the 80s, now it's 'unusual' for an actor
When it comes to steamy sex scenes onscreen, Rob Lowe has some thoughts. During a recent episode of his "Literally! With Rob Lowe" podcast, the veteran actor sparked up a conversation with guest and "Sex and the City" alum Kristin Davis about the history of sex scenes in Hollywood and discussed why they've gradually become taboo. While chatting about Lowe's 1988 film, "Masquerade," which he starred in alongside "SATC" star Kim Cattrall and Meg Tilly, the actor recalled the studio dumping the movie because it was "too sexy." "I know, can you imagine such a thing?" Davis said. Lowe admitted the sex scenes were "pretty gratuitous." "But it was great. It was sexy," he added. "I wish we had sexy movies now. Nobody has sex scenes in movies anymore." Shifting the conversation to the 2024 erotic thriller starring Nicole Kidman, "Babygirl," Davis said that it's still "unusual" to see sexy films these days. "We're like, 'Oh, thank God someone made a sexy movie,' like, it's an unusual thing now," she said. Lowe agreed and admitted it's a double-standard to dub actors "brave" for participating in sex scenes. "Oh, when they're like, 'It's so brave. She's so brave.' She's 'brave' because she has a sex scene. Like, that's brave now, and in our day, it was required." In 2021, Lowe made a similar revelation regarding his sex scenes with Demi Moore in the 1986 romantic comedy, "About Last Night." "In those days, there was a sex scene in every movie," Lowe told Yahoo! Entertainment at the time. "Every script I used to get, I would go to page 73, because that was always where the sex scene was! It didn't matter if it was a movie about priests and nuns, on page 73 there was going to be a sex scene. Today, you'd watch 17 movies and never see people with their clothes off unless [the movie] is about that." "They're not fun," he continued. "They're not a hall pass, as much as you would like it to be. They're very technical, and usually very boring. I don't know if you've had to kiss anybody for eight hours straight — it's not fun! It's not all you bargain for."

‘Sex and the City' star didn't want to dump Alec Baldwin because of his Hamptons house
"Sex and the City" star Kristin Davis revealed the unexpected reason she didn't want to break up with Alec Baldwin. While appearing on Rob Lowe's podcast, "Literally! With Rob Lowe," Davis, who dated Baldwin briefly in 2001, was enamored with not just the star, but his house in the Hamptons. "Alec Baldwin was so rich by the time I dated Alec Baldwin – can I just say that straight out?" Davis said. "One of the best things about Alec Baldwin when I dated him is that he had the most incredible house in Amagansett." She even consulted her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, saying, "I was like, 'Sarah Jessica, I don't know if it's going to work out with Alec, but I just really love that house.'" "Which is literally, like, one of the only times I have felt that way: 'I don't want to break up with this person because I like his house.' It's so embarrassing to say that out loud, but it's true," the "And Just Like That" star added. The Hamptons' mansion was listed shortly after the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of "Rust." At the beginning of 2024, the actor slashed the asking price by $10 million, asking just shy of $19 million for the 10,000-square-foot house featuring seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, real estate listings show. The 66-year-old even appeared in a pitch video to sell the home. "One of the best things about Alec Baldwin when I dated him is that he had the most incredible house in Amagansett." "I've had a home out here on the East End of Long Island since 1982," the actor says, as the tracking camera catches up with him. "When I was younger, we'd come out here and sleep all morning and lay on the beach all day." Baldwin came up in the conversation after Lowe tried to get Davis to divulge the name of the actor she had once loaned $5,000 to, who later stopped calling her, a story she had shared on her podcast, "Are You a Charlotte?" last month Davis confirmed, "I so would never have needed to lend Alec $5,000, my God!" "I feel so bad that I told that story, Rob," the 60-year-old continued. "Because now he's a 'con artist.' He's not a con artist! He's an out-of-work actor [at the time], people. I can't name the name. I'll tell you the next time I see you." The only hints she would give were that "it took him a while to become famous" and that she had a feeling he would become successful at some point. "He's very hot, I think he still is now, he's married," she added.

Rob Lowe questions why Nicole Kidman's Babygirl sex scenes were hailed as ‘brave'
Rob Lowe has shared his confusion over the response to the sex scenes in Nicole Kidman 's film Babygirl. The movie, which arrived in UK cinemas in January, sees Kidman star as a high-flying CEO who becomes embroiled in an affair with a younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. Lowe, 60, said that although he thought Babygirl was a 'pretty great' movie, he was puzzled as to why Kidman, 57, was hailed as 'brave' for filming the erotic moments when sex scenes had previously been 'required' as part of an actor's job. 'They're like, 'Oh, it's so brave, she's so brave, '' he said during a conversation with Sex and the City star Kristin Davis on his podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe. 'She's brave because she has a sex scene. That's brave now. And in our day, it was required.' The West Wing star went on to explain a concept he described as 'the page 73 rule', whereby a script's 73rd page would often tend to feature a sex scene as a way of getting through a tricky part of the movie's narrative. 'In the day, the sex scene was always on page 73,' Lowe said. 'You get a script and you're like, 'Oh my God, how gratuitous. Do I have to be naked in this? Let me check.' And you didn't have to read the whole script. You just went to page 73. 'That middle second act… What do you do? It's the toughest sledding in storytelling so they Blue Lagoon it. But now, it's so brave.' Lowe did concede, though, that Hollywood's wariness towards sex on screen wasn't an entirely new phenomenon, claiming that one of his Eighties movies was 'kind of dumped' because it was 'too sexy'. 'Kim Cattrall and I did a movie called Masquerade together, I love that movie,' he said. 'It got good reviews, but the studio kind of dumped it because they thought it was too sexy. 'It was pretty gratuitous, but it was great.' Babygirl director Halina Reijn previously explained that using an intimacy coordinator allowed her and the cast to achieve sex scenes that appeared 'way more risky'. 'You can get more extreme sex scenes that look way more risky than when you're thinking, 'No, let the actresses find out themselves,'' Reign told IndieWire. 'That's such a dated idea of what sexuality is and how to approach it. I really am against it.' She also criticised directors who claim that their performers don't want to work with intimacy coordinators, who help to choreograph sex scenes and ensure that they are performed safely. 'That makes no sense,' she said. 'It is also for your safety as a director and for everyone. What if there is a misunderstanding? It's just amazing to have a person like that on set. And if you are creative and talented enough of a director, you can pull it off. Trust me.'
