Comedian Milton Jones reveals he has prostate cancer and cancels UK tour dates
Comedian Milton Jones revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and has cancelled a number of UK tour dates as he undergoes surgery. The 60-year-old, who is known for his appearances on Mock The Week, said his cancer was treatable in an Instagram post, where he added that a number of further tour dates would be rescheduled. In the post, he said: "Thanks for your support and respecting my privacy during this time. This decision has not been taken lightly, trust me. "Abnormal service will resume as soon as possible and I'm looking forward to being back out on the road again soon – though probably not on a bike." Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, who himself has stage four cancer after his prostate cancer spread, was among those responding to Jones's post, saying: "Really sorry to hear it mate, best of luck." Fellow comedian Al Murray said: "All the best Milton for a speedy recovery." Announcing the cancellation, Jones said: "I'm so sorry about this but I need to announce the cancellation of several dates from my ongoing Ha!Milton Tour. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office." The Richmond-born comedian said shows in Leeds, Coventry, Basingstoke, Sterts, Launceston, Durham, Hexham, Ilkley, Wakefield, Lichfield, Tunbridge Wells, Portsmouth and Lyme Regis would no longer go ahead, while shows in Colchester, London, Bridlington and Stroud would be rescheduled to autumn. Jones said all of the dates currently planned for autumn would be unaffected. The NHS says prostate cancer develops slowly, so there may be no signs for years, but says signs may include an increased need to urinate, straining while urinating and a feeling that the bladder has not fully emptied. Comedian Milton Jones has announced he has cancelled his upcoming tour dates following a prostate cancer diagnosis. The 60-year-old said on social media the cancer is "treatable" but he will need surgery. In a statement he said: "I'm so sorry about this, but I need to announce the cancellation of several dates from my ongoing Ha!Milton Tour. "The affected shows are in Leeds, Coventry, Basingstoke, Sterts, Launceston, Durham, Hexham, Ilkley, Wakefield, Lichfield, Tunbridge Wells, Portsmouth, and Lyme Regis which were all due to take place this summer." He continued: "This difficult decision comes following a recent diagnosis of treatable prostate cancer. I'll be undergoing surgery soon and will need time afterwards to fully recover." The comic added his summer dates in Colchester, Bridlington, Stroud, and London will be rescheduled to the Autumn and that those with cancelled dates will be contacted by their venue's box office. Jones also thanked his fans for their understanding. "Thanks for your support and respecting my privacy during this time," he said. "This decision has not been taken lightly. Trust me, abnormal service will resume as soon as possible and I'm looking forward to being back out on the road again soon - though probably not on a bike!" Fans have been quick to rally support for Milton on X with one replying to the news: "Please don't apologise mate, it's a horrible situation that you're in and totally out of your control. "There's not 1 of your fans who won't understand and wish u all the best so please don't feel bad about it. Just look after yourself and get through your treatment now xxx" Another posted: "Wishing you all the best with your prostate cancer battle. Milton Jones is best known in the comedy world for his one liners, with frequent guest appearances on Mock of the Week and Live At The Apollo.

The funnyman took to Instagram on Monday to update fans as he confirmed his health battle is 'treatable'. Apologising to his 71,000 followers, Milton, 60, promised that 'abnormal service will resume as soon as possible' and revealed he will have an operation over the next few weeks. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office.." Milton, who was set to play 70 venues in the tour this summer, has appeared on a raft of the biggest shows on UK TV including Mock the Week and Live At The Apollo and is known for his hilarious, dead-pan take on life. The comic also wrote the surreal, semi-biographical novel Where Do Comedians Go When They Die?: Journeys of a Stand-Up in 2009. Fans and famous faces flocked to Instagram to send well wishes, with Scots Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy leading the sentiments. The cyclist, who was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2023, said: "Really sorry to hear it mate, best of luck." Comedian Al Murray said: "All the best Milton for a speedy recovery." One fan said: "All good fishes coming your way from me!" One added: "Health before humour Milton. wishing you a speedy recovery sir." One said: "Thinking of you at this time, Milton."
