Prateik Babbar shares support for Babil Khan, says it's ‘not easy being Irrfan's son': ‘I was crying for him, know what he is feeling'

Babil Khan, who was last seen in the film Log Out, recently shared a video on his social media that was later taken down by him. Actor Prateik Babbar has now said that his 'heart goes out to' Babil because he can relate to what the 26-year-old must be going through. Prateik said that it is not easy to be born as Irrfan Khan's son as he was one of the greatest actors who represented India on a global platform. He said that since he too is the son of a great actor, Smita Patil, who passed away in childbirth, he somehow understands what Babil must be possibly going through. Talking to Bollywood Bubble, Prateik said, 'Being Mr Irrfan Khan's son is not easy to deal with. Irrfan Khan passed away at a very crucial age in his life. He was a teen.' Prateik said that he was crying looking at Babil's video and added, 'I related to it and I have been having debates about it with a few of my friends. I said look whatever it is, if he is harming himself then it's wrong but you have to put it in perspective. You have to understand what that boy has been through. I understand it more than anybody else.' Prateik Babbar said that Irrfan Khan was a very successful actor and Babil Khan lived a big part of his life under his father's protective shadow. 'He lived a life with his father, and his father made it beyond anybody in this industry could make it. My heart goes out to him. I was crying for him yesterday. I was like I know what you are feeling. It's not easy. I feel for Babil. I wish him well. I wish him all the love and healing. I know his father is looking out for him,' he said. In his video, Babil had named a few of his industry peers and said that Bollywood was a 'fake' industry. Later, his team later issued a statement and a part of it read, 'Over the past few years, Babil Khan has earned immense love and appreciation for his work, as well as for his openness about his mental health journey. Like anyone else, Babil is allowed to have difficult days — and this was one of them. We want to reassure all his well-wishers that he is safe and will be feeling better soon.'

Babil Khan's family issues statement after actor calls Bollywood ‘fake' in emotional video: ‘Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers'

Bollywood actor Babil Khan's family and team have shared a statement after a video of the actor crying went viral on social media. Babil had earlier posted the emotional video on Instagram, in which he referred to Bollywood as 'fake'. In the same video, he mentioned actors like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, and singer Arijit Singh. The statement released on Sunday has clarified his stance, acknowledging that the actor is going through 'difficult days,' while reassuring fans that he is 'safe and will be feeling better soon.' The statement read: Over the past few years, Babil Khan has earned immense love and appreciation for his work, as well as for his openness about his mental health journey. Like anyone else, Babil is allowed to have difficult days — and this was one of them. We want to reassure all his well-wishers that he is safe and will be feeling better soon. That said, a video of Babil has been widely misinterpreted and taken out of context. In the clip, Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers whom he believes are making meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. His mention of artists like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, and Arijit Singh came from a place of genuine admiration — for their authenticity, passion, and efforts to restore credibility and heart in the industry. We respectfully urge media publications and the public to consider the full context of his words rather than drawing conclusions from fragmented video clips. -Team Babil Khan After sharing the video, the Qala actor went on to delete his Instagram account. Babil Khan was last seen in the film Log Out, which released on ZEE5. He has previously been part of several critically acclaimed projects including The Railway Men, Friday Night Plan, and others. Babil Khan is the son of the late actor Irrfan Khan and his wife Sutapa Sikdar.

Babil Khan reveals his mother was the ultimate critic of Irrfan Khan's films: 'She liked 'Log Out' and I was surprised'

Babil Khan , son of the late veteran actor Irrfan Khan , has spoken candidly about the deep impact his mother, Sutapa Sikdar , had on his father's life and career. In a recent conversation, the young actor opened up about his personal and professional journey, including reflections on love, legacy, and the unique dynamic within his family. Babil about Sutapa While speaking on the Hours podcast on YouTube, Babil shared how his mother gave him strength and courage to move forward in his career. 'Baba would never have been Baba if it were not for my mother. If she hadn't attended the PTA meetings and sports days, he would never have been able to do what he did. I'm not even talking about gender equality or disparity. I'm talking about the bond and the sacrifices one makes for their partner,' Babil shared. 03:00 Babil Khan Drops 'Khan' Surname by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 3 Reasons to Plug This Into Your Home Today elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Learn More Undo Sutapa's reaction to Irrfan's films Babil also spoke about Sutapa's insightful feedback on Irrfan's work. He described how she would thoughtfully critique Irrfan's performances after each project, offering constructive feedback that helped him grow as an artist. 'Whenever Baba would come back home after a good role, she would critically scrutinise him and break his films down—where he went wrong, where he did right—and that would help him improve,' he recalled. Babil also admitted that witnessing such high standards within his own household initially made him hesitant about pursuing acting himself. The 'Qala' actor also spoke about his recent release, 'Log Out', a film about digital dependency among today's youth. Babil shared how Sutapa reacted to the film: 'She liked it, and I was very surprised, because she is brutally honest, and she needs to be with me. Usually, she tells me that I did well but also points out where I need to improve, but with Log Out she didn't say anything.' Her silence made Babil wonder.
