Iconic Egyptian Actor Sayed Sadek Dies at 80
Rabat – Iconic veteran actor Sayed Sadek died today, joining the list of great talents whose loss has left the Arab world mourning its acclaimed stars. The actor's son, Louay El Sayed, confirmed the news. Sadek has left a long list of masterpieces behind, having featured in numerous series and movies throughout his career. The actor appeared in several popular TV series like El Hakika wa Sarab and Yetrebi Fi Ezzo, among others. Movies in which he featured also include Khali Balek Men A'akak, as well as other series featuring superstars like Adel Imam. Recently, several actors and actresses who have once shaped the Arab world's cinema have died. In July, Lotfi Labib died at the age of 78, following a prolonged illness that led to a serious decline in his health. In December last year, veteran Egyptian actor Nabil Halfawy also died at 77. In 2020, the world mourned Egyptian actor Mahmoud Yassine as well as Hassan Hosni.

Veteran Actor Sayed Sadek Passes Away at 80
Sayed Sadek, known for his distinctive supporting roles in film and television, has passed away aged 80. Aug 08, 2025 Veteran Egyptian actor Sayed Sadek, known for his striking features and memorable supporting roles, has passed away at the age of 80, his son, screenwriter Louay El Sayed, confirmed. Funeral prayers will be held today following Friday prayers at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed City, with burial planned at the Fayoum Road Cemetery. Despite holding only a high school diploma, Sadeq carved out a successful acting career marked by his unique presence. His career spanned both cinema and television, featuring notable work in films such as 'Keda Reda', 'El Embrator', 'Hassan and Marcus' and 'Fawzia the Bourgeoisie'. He also appeared in several popular TV series, including 'Yetrebi Fi Ezzo' and 'Fere'et Nagy Attallah'. Sadek's contributions to Egyptian drama were also recognised beyond the screen, having recently received a special honour at the second Cairo Drama Festival in Alamein two years ago.
