LPA inside PAR develops into Tropical Depression Fabian
State weather bureau PAGASA said Friday that the Low Pressure Area being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression. "As of 8:00 AM today, August 8, 2025, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08a) being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression and was named "FABIAN," said PAGASA. PAGASA, meanwhile, said that Tropical Storm "Podul" is still being monitored outside the PAR as it advised the public to monitor updates. In its 24-hour weather forecast on Friday morning, PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will influence weather conditions in most parts of the country. Because of Habagat, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Visayas, the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the Davao Region, and Quezon, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will occur over Metro Manila, the rest of CALABARZON, and the rest of Mindanao. The rest of Luzon will experience localized thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate, and coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate across the country. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

Heavy rainfall expected in Luzon for next few days — PAGASA
PAGASA on Thursday afternoon issued a heavy rainfall outlook for several parts of Luzon due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). According to its Weather Advisory No. 7 at 5 p.m., the following areas should expect heavy rains over the next few days: Thursday to Friday afternoon 100-200mm: Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan 50-100mm: Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro 100-200mm: Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan 50-100mm: Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon 50-100mm: Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan 50-100mm: Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon 100-200mm: Batanes 50-100mm: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan 'Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,' the advisory said. Trough of LPA, Habagat to bring scattered rains over parts of PH
The trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (Habagat) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over parts of the country on Tuesday, PAGASA reported. At 3:00 AM today, the LPA was estimated data at 650 km East of Infanta, Quezon. The Southwest Monsoon affecting Visayas, Mindanao, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon. Bicol Region, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Trough of the LPA with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Habagat, LPA's trough, easterlies to bring scattered rains over PH
Batanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) as the southwest monsoon or Habagat and easterlies bring scattered rains over the western section of Northern Luzon and the rest of the country on Friday, PAGASA reported. As of 2 a.m., the weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Auring has weakened into an LPA and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It has an "unlikely" chance of redeveloping into a Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 hours. Batanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA as flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Ilocos Region and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms. The wind speed forecast for northern and western sections of Northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction as coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
