LPA inside PAR develops into Tropical Depression Fabian
"As of 8:00 AM today, August 8, 2025, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08a) being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression and was named "FABIAN," said PAGASA.
PAGASA, meanwhile, said that Tropical Storm "Podul" is still being monitored outside the PAR as it advised the public to monitor updates.
In its 24-hour weather forecast on Friday morning, PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will influence weather conditions in most parts of the country.
Because of Habagat, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Visayas, the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the Davao Region, and Quezon, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will occur over Metro Manila, the rest of CALABARZON, and the rest of Mindanao.
The rest of Luzon will experience localized thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate, and coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate across the country. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

"A total of 108,375 damaged houses are reported in Region 1, Region 2, CAR, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, NIR, Region 7, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA, BARMM," the NDRRMC said. Meanwhile, the road sections affected were still at 815, and bridges damaged were 43. Damage to agriculture was still at P3,159,733,667.11 representing production loss, and 98,307 farmers and fisherfolk were affected. Podul on track to enter PAR in next 24 hours
Severe Tropical Storm 'Podul' is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next 24 hours, according to the weather advisory from PAGASA on Sunday morning. In its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone advisory, the state weather bureau said Podul 'continues to accelerate while maintaining its strength'. 'The center of Severe Tropical Storm PODUL was estimated based on all available data at 1,680 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR)', said PAGASA. 'PODUL is forecast to move generally westward today and tomorrow (11 August), then west northwestward or northwestward from Tuesday (12 August) through the end of the forecast period. PODUL may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tonight and tomorrow early morning,' it added. PAGASA said Podul has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and central pressure of 985 hPa. The storm's present movement is westward at 25 km/h while the extent of the tropical cyclone's winds from strong to storm-force winds extend outwards up to 280 km from the center. For its general outlook for the forecast period, PAGASA said Podul is 'is less likely to directly affect the weather and sea conditions in the country within the next five days.' 'On the track forecast, PODUL may pass close or over the southern Ryukyu Islands on Wednesday (13 August) morning. Furthermore, a landfall scenario over Taiwan on Wednesday afternoon or evening is also not ruled out,' the agency advised. PAGASA said that that 'considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates related to this tropical cyclone.'

Habagat to bring rains over Luzon; Podul to enter PAR Sunday or Monday
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western section of Luzon on Sunday and will bring rains over some areas, PAGASA said. Severe Tropical Storm Podul meanwhile is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday night or early Monday morning. The Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides. Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur. The rest of the country meanwhile will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur during severe thunderstorms. Coastal areas will be slight to moderate throughout the whole country. Sunrise was at 5:41 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:22 p.m. Podul Severe Tropical Storm Podul, meanwhile, was located at 3 a.m. at 1,875 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon, which is outside PAR. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 135 km/h. Podul is moving westward at 15 km/h. "Posibleng pumasok ng PAR ito mamayang gabi o bukas ng madaling araw," DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said in the public weather forecast. ([Podul] may possibly enter PAR tonight or tomorrow early morning.) Once it enters PAR, it will be called Gorio. Based on the forecast track, Podul may possibly stay in the northeastern portion of PAR and make landfall in Taiwan on Wednesday before exiting PAR, Badrina said. "Maliit ang tsansang magkaroon ito ng direkta epekto sa bansa," he said. (It has a low chance of having a direct effect on the country.) However, if Podul changes track and goes southward, PAGASA may possibly raise a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal over Batanes, Badrina said. "Sa ngayon hindi natin nakikita na masyado nitong palalakasin ang Habagat (For now, we don't see that it will affect the Habagat much)," he added. "Kaya in general po, makikita pa rin natin 'yung mga generally fair weather sa malaking bahagi ng bansa sa mga susunod na araw," Badrina added.
