Business matching exhibition set for next year to boost Malaysia-Cambodia trade ties
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA) yesterday announced that it will host an exhibition next year aimed at boosting trade and investment cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia. Scheduled for June 2026, the Malaysia–Cambodia Business Matching Exhibition 2026 is expected to attract between 200 and 300 entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders from both countries. In addition to encouraging growth in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, food and beverages, logistics, construction, and services, the exhibition aims to promote sustainable business relationships while contributing to Asean economic integration and high-quality regional growth. The announcement was made during MCBA's "Strategic Cooperation Networking & Fellowship Dinner" yesterday, which brought together over 120 guests, including presidents and representatives from 20 strategic partner chambers in Malaysia. Also present were the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Cambodia in Malaysia, Vith Panhnha, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation representative S. Jai Shanker, and MCBA founding president Datuk Seri Ricky Yaw. The dinner marked the first major follow-up event after the successful conclusion of the Malaysia–Cambodia Trade and Investment Mission in June 2025. The aim is to consolidate outcomes and deepen strategic trade and investment cooperation between both countries. "This dinner is not only a valuable platform for engagement but also a testament to our shared commitment to fostering cooperation, strengthening regional synergy, and achieving mutual prosperity," said Yaw. To sustain the momentum, MCBA also announced that it will lead a second high-level delegation to Cambodia from Aug 20 to 23 for a four-day trade mission and business exploration. The delegation will engage with Cambodian ministries, industrial parks, and enterprises to identify new cooperation and investment opportunities for Malaysian companies.

Access Advance Announces HEVC Advance and VVC Advance Pricing through 2030
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Access Advance LLC ('Advance') today announced the results of several significant decisions by the Licensors in both the HEVC Advance and VVC Advance Patent Pools. Both patent pools opted to maintain their current royalty rates and caps for Licensees who sign before December 31, 2025, and to extend an incentive that aligns the royalty caps for Advance's Multi-Codec Bridging Agreement ('MCBA') and the VVC Advance Patent Pool for Licensees who sign the MCBA during the same period. Access Advance is pleased that both groups of Licensors opted for marketplace stability and predictability with their decisions largely to maintain rates and caps at existing levels and providing an additional incentive for Licensees to sign the MCBA. Share The result is that Licensees who join the HEVC Advance program, gaining access to more than 27,000 patents, on or before December 31, 2025, can lock in current rates and caps through 2030. This protection applies both to ongoing royalty obligations and calculation of royalties due for past sales. Additionally, both current and new HEVC Advance Licensees who join the VVC Advance Patent Pool and execute the MCBA by December 31, 2025, will enjoy MCBA royalty caps that match the royalty caps for the VVC Advance program. This reflects an extension of an incentive that expired June 30, 2022, and locks in current rates through 2030, effectively reducing the current MCBA royalty caps and reinforcing Access Advance's commitment to rewarding early adopters of its platform licensing approach. Beginning on January 1, 2026, the HEVC royalty rates will be updated to align HEVC Advance pricing with the existing VVC Advance royalty rate structure, which the VVC Advance Licensors voted to maintain at current levels through 2030, making the value proposition of the MCBA even more beneficial for Licensees across Access Advance's video codec platform licensing programs. [UPDATED] Autogate failure at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ disrupts 380,000 travellers' movement
SEPANG: More than 380,000 tourists were affected by the recent autogate system glitch caused by connectivity issues between the MyIMMS system and the international security system it is linked to. Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the figure only referred to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) in Johor. However, Shuhaily did not disclose the number of affected travellers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, or at the CIQ Complex at Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB). He said there were about 200,000 inbound and outbound tourists at BSI on July 18, and about 180,000 yesterday. "We deeply regret what has happened. "What occurred was not a breakdown of the MyIMMS system, which is supposed to be integrated with an international security system, but rather a connectivity issue. This caused delays in the screening process and resulted in long queues of visitors. "I was informed that records show about 380,000 visitors were affected by this. "On behalf of the MCBA and the Immigration Department, we apologise for what has happened, and we will do our best to ensure this does not happen again," he said at a press conference today. He assured that the agency is working hard to prevent a recurrence. Addressing the issue over the past two days, Shuhaily said all available personnel were deployed yesterday to facilitate the entry of travellers into the country amid the autogate failure. "I want to stress that no Malaysian citizens were involved in the delays, only foreigners entering or leaving Malaysia were affected. "Yesterday was a public holiday, and as everyone knows, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are peak periods, especially when foreign workers in Singapore would travel to Johor to shop or spend time there, that's why the crowd was so large yesterday. "As we speak now, the autogates are already up and running," he said. As of 10pm yesterday, 68 autogates at BSI were already operational, while four were functioning at KSAB. At KLIA, 36 autogates are fully operational. He added that one of the measures they have taken, and will continue to take in the event of a recurrence, is to inform travellers of any autogate issues in advance so they can plan their journeys accordingly or postpone their trips to another day. Yesterday, MCBA, in a statement, had said it has taken immediate measures to address the congestion at the country's main entry points since yesterday. All manual counters have been fully activated, and additional personnel have been deployed to manage the flow of visitors and control the queues as efficiently as possible. This follows a technical disruption affecting the autogate system used by foreign visitors at the country's main entry points, which has led to congestion and long queues.

Autogate system for foreign visitors partially restored at main entry points
PUTRAJAYA: The autogate system for foreign visitors at the country's main entry points has gradually resumed operations from 6pm today. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) said the partial recovery is the result of continuous efforts by the technical teams from both MCBA and the Immigration Department. The disruption had led to congestion and long queues at several key locations, including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, as well as the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complexes at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) in Johor. In a statement, the agency said that although the system has started functioning, full recovery has yet to be achieved. The agency said repair and system stabilisation work is still underway to ensure operations can return to full capacity. "The situation at all affected major entry points, including KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, as well as the CIQ complexes at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB), remains under control. "Mitigation measures such as the activation of manual counters and the deployment of additional personnel will continue to ensure a smooth and orderly flow of foreign visitors. "MCBA remains committed to restoring the system to ensure that daily immigration operations at the nation's main entry points remain safe and well-managed, and appreciates the patience and cooperation of all parties during this period." The agency had earlier said that preliminary investigations indicate that the issue affecting the autogates stemmed from a data integration failure, which slowed down the cross-verification process in the Malaysian Immigration Integrated System (MyIMMS). As a result of the technical glitch, the autogate system for foreign visitors was non-operational.
