Three children drowned in pond
paderu (ASR District): In a heart-wrenching tragedy, three young boys drowned in a pond near Gangavalasa village of Guntaseema Panchayat in Dumburuguda mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Korra Sushanth from Gangavalasa, and Gunta Bhanu Teja and Sai Kiran from Billaput village of Kothangi Panchayat. The three had reportedly gone for a swim in an MGNREGA-constructed pond located in front of the Jamalayya temple near the village. Reportedly all of them were below 15 years old.
According to locals, the boys accidentally slipped into the deeper parts of the pond and drowned.
Some locals rushed to rescue them but were unable to save the children in time.
Tragically, Bhanu Teja and Sai Kiran had only arrived a week ago to spend their school vacation at their maternal uncle's home.
The sudden loss of the three young lives has plunged the village into deep sorrow, with grieving families and relatives mourning the unimaginable loss. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of water bodies in rural areas and the lack of fencing or warning signs near ponds frequented by children.
Authorities are expected to initiate an inquiry and discuss possible preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in future.
