From its jet lag–busting amenities to 30-minute power workouts for time-starved professionals, SIRO is becoming a go-to destination for modern travellers and wellness seekers alike. In this conversation, we explore how SIRO is tailoring its approach to meet the rising demand for integrative wellness, what trends are worth watching, and how technology and human connection are shaping the future of fitness in the UAE. To delve into this concept, Emirates Man, spoke to Jamie Moore, Director of Fitness, SIRO One Za'abeel on the brand's approach to your overall wellbeing in Dubai. What are some of the most in-demand or surprising offerings guests are engaging with at SIRO? Guests are increasingly drawn to our efficient, high-impact 30-minute classes held during lunch breaks—perfect for busy professionals looking to optimise their day. Additionally, SIRO's cutting-edge recovery treatments like Cryotherapy and the Triple Detox by MLX i³Dome have become standout favourites. The Signature Sanctum Sequence led by Sanctum, blending performance and mindfulness in a high-intensity format, is also receiving exceptional engagement thanks to their unique mind-body fusion. You've mentioned the importance of balance, how does SIRO tailor its programmes to address not just performance but also recovery and stress management? SIRO's approach to wellness is integrative, blending science-backed recovery tools with personalised care. Our newly launched Wellness Programmes are thoughtfully designed to support physical regeneration and mental clarity. Inclusions range from body composition analysis and nutritional assessments to personal training sessions tailored to individual goals. Guests also benefit from daily shakes at the Refuel Bar for nourishment, and experience recovery treatments designed to enhance performance and vitality. Each element is selected to promote balance, reduce stress, and elevate performance both in and out of the gym. What's one wellness trend you think is overhyped and one we're not talking about enough? Nootropics or 'smart drugs' by healthy individuals seeking cognitive enhancement. Despite their growing popularity, the scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness in people without medical conditions is limited. On the rise is Sleep tourism: traveling to locations designed to optimize rest and recovery through curated environments, expert guidance, and science-backed amenities. Destination like SIRO offer an immersive experience tailored to improving sleep quality and overall physical and mental performance. With wellness plans on the rise, the hotel is specifically designed to beat jet lag – tell us more. SIRO is purpose-built to help travellers reset quickly and effectively. We offer Modular Massage that combines deep tissue massage with stretching techniques, Compression therapy to increase blood circulation, and the State of Mind by Welnamis —a sound therapy bed that uses binaural acoustic waves to aid deep rest and nervous system regulation. Combined with our signature sleep-enhancing amenities, guests can transition from travel fatigue to peak performance with ease. What's the one ritual that keeps you grounded, no matter the timezone during Summer? I walk with visual exploration – letting my surroundings stimulate and inspire me as I move. It's a form of moving meditation and a non-negotiable part of my routine. This practice blends physical activity with mindful observation, offering both movement for my body and positive mindfulness for my mental health. As someone who lives and breathes wellness, what does your own daily fitness or wellness routine look like? My daily routine is intentionally designed to support both physical vitality and mental clarity. I begin the day with natural sunlight and movement to energize my body and reset my circadian rhythm. Throughout the day, I stay hydrated and fuel myself with light, nutrient-rich meals. I take regular 15-minute micro-breaks, often with cold showers or breathwork to reset and recharge. Evenings are reserved for a digital detox to wind down, and my sleep environment is carefully optimised for recovery, including a smart or temperature-regulated mattress to support deep, restorative rest. Can you walk us through what a personalised fitness journey at SIRO might look like for a guest? Our fitness journey begins with a comprehensive discovery session – an in‑depth consultation – followed by personalized questions and expert tips to clarify your goals. Next, we conduct movement screenings, VO₂ max testing, and strength assessments. As a result, our members and guests receive actionable data and tools to reach their peak physical and mental performance. In what ways do you see tech enhancing not replacing the human element of fitness coaching? Technology enhances fitness coaching by providing data-driven insights, automating admin tasks, and offering tools for real-time feedback. However, it cannot replace the human elements of interaction, motivation, and adaptability that are essential for client engagement and long-term success. The most effective coaching models integrate AI's efficiency with the personal touch of on-site coaches, combining personalised programming and interactive support to optimize client outcomes. Where do you see the future of luxury wellness headed in the UAE? The future of luxury wellness in the UAE is increasingly centered around sleep and recovery, reflecting a growing recognition of their importance in overall well-being. Hotels and resorts are integrating advanced sleep tech, such as thermoregulating mattresses and circadian lighting, to enhance guest rest. SIRO has been a trail blazer in this space and we will continue to innovate and inspire industry. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram Images: Supplied

Apple eyes OpenAI and Anthropic for Siri revamp, wants their models to run on its own private cloud

Apple is reportedly in talks with OpenAI and Anthropic to potentially power a major update to Siri, according to a Bloomberg report. The company is apparently exploring the use of external large language models (LLMs) to replace or support its own AI efforts. Reportedly, Apple has asked both OpenAI and Anthropic to train versions of their models that could be tested on Apple's own cloud infrastructure. This setup would allow the company to keep user data private while leveraging the strengths of more advanced third-party AI move is reportedly part of an internal push to revive Apple's underwhelming progress in AI. In a post on X, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said, 'Apple is considering using AI technology from Anthropic or OpenAI to power Siri, sidelining its own in-house models in a potentially blockbuster move aimed at turning around its AI effort.'Gurman added that the shift towards external models has had a noticeable impact internally. Tom Gunter, one of Apple's senior AI engineers, left the company last week. Additionally, the team behind MLX, which is Apple's open-source AI framework, has allegedly threatened to quit over frustrations with the current direction. advertisement Despite these developments, Apple has yet to make a final decision to completely abandon its in-house models. Gurman noted that the company is still running a project named 'LLM Siri,' which could power a redesigned version of Siri in 2025 using its own AI models. However, Gurman says that top executives at Apple reportedly believe that relying on third-party models could be the key to catching up with rivals in the AI this year, Apple abruptly cancelled plans to build its own in-house coding models, which had been announced as part of Swift Assist at last year's developer conference. Instead, the company now allows developers to use tools like ChatGPT or Anthropic's Claude directly through Xcode, its integrated development environment. Apple is also using Claude internally for code shift comes as Apple faces increasing pressure to retain top AI talent. According to Gurman, companies like Meta and OpenAI are offering salaries that can more than double what Apple pays, making it harder to attract and keep skilled engineers. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday announced a new AI division called the Meta Superintelligence Labs, which is aimed at developing artificial general intelligence (AGI) – an AI system that can perform most tasks as well as or better than humans can. For this new AI unit, Meta has poached some of the best AI researchers from its rivals like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Apple is reportedly working on a long-awaited revamp of Siri alongside the launch of iOS 26.4 in 2026. The upgraded virtual assistant is expected to offer more sophisticated capabilities, tapping into on-screen content and user data to execute complex, multi-step commands with greater context-awareness.- Ends

Alibaba and Apple team up on local AI models for China

Alibaba's (NYSE:BABA) AI arm just optimized its open-source Qwen3 models for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) MLX framework, a move that likely paves the way for Apple Intelligence to launch in mainland China. On Monday, Alibaba's Qwen team announced on X that Qwen3 is now available in MLX format with four quantization options4-bit, 6-bit, 8-bit and BF16so the models can run locally on iPhones, iPads and Macs. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 3 Warning Signs with BABA. Released on Hugging Face yesterday, the update aligns with reports in the South China Morning Post that Apple needs a home-grown partner to meet Beijing's tight AI regulations before rolling out its Apple Intelligence suitefeatures like Genmoji and Writing Tools that elsewhere rely on OpenAI's GPT. Because any AI models bundled into Apple Intelligence require Chinese regulatory approval, Apple struck a deal with Alibaba to host and vet those models on Chinese soil. China is Apple's single largest market outside the U.S., and localizing intelligence features could boost iPhone, iPad and Mac sales thereespecially as the trade war and data-sovereignty rules complicate direct deployments of Western AI services. Alibaba's update is a clear signal that Apple and its Chinese partner are lining up to meet both user demand and regulatory hurdles. This article first appeared on GuruFocus.
