Yella Beezy Arrested Over Hiring Hitman for Rapper MO3 — Report
Curious about why Dallas rapper is back in the headlines? The recent capital murder charge against him has reignited public attention surrounding the 2020 killing of fellow rapper Mo3. Authorities allege Beezy orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot that led to the fatal highway shooting in broad daylight. Let's take a closer look at the case details, who was involved, and how investigators connected the dots leading to this major indictment. Dallas police arrested rapper Markies Deandre Conway, known as Yella Beezy, and charged him with capital murder in connection to the 2020 killing of rapper Melvin Noble, known as Mo3. A Dallas County grand jury indicted Conway on March 18, 2025, alleging he intentionally and knowingly hired a gunman to commit the shooting 'while remuneration was involved.' (via NBCDFW) On November 11, 2020, a masked gunman shot and killed Mo3 in broad daylight on Interstate 35E in Dallas. Police reported that Mo3 exited his car and ran on foot before the gunman chased and shot him multiple times. Traffic cameras captured the incident, and footage quickly circulated. According to the indictment, Conway hired Kewon Dontrell White to carry out the killing. 'Pursuant to said agreement, Kewon White did then and there intentionally and knowingly cause the death of (Noble) by shooting (him) with (a) firearm,' the indictment states, per USA Today. Authorities arrested White a month after the shooting, and he is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for gun charges. A grand jury indicted a second man, Devin Maurice Brown, in connection with the killing. Investigators used phone records and surveillance data to place both suspects near the murder scene before the shooting. Federal authorities later indicted Brown on drug and weapons charges after they found a stolen AK-47, drugs, and cash in his home. Officers took Yella Beezy into custody and booked him into the Dallas County Jail on March 20, 2025. Officials have not set his bond. The capital murder charge makes him eligible for the death penalty. In 2021, police arrested Beezy on unrelated charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and sexual assault stemming from a separate incident. Texas rapper Yella Beezy arrested, charged in 2020 murder of artist MO3. What we know
Texas rapper Yella Beezy was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail Thursday afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Dallas county jail and court records. Yella Beezy, best known for his breakout hit "That's On Me," was arrested for the 2020 murder of fellow Dallas rapper MO3. Here is what we know about the charges. Yella Beezy (real name Markies Conway) was indicted by a jury on March 18 on a charge of "capital murder while remuneration," alleging the Texas-born rapper "intentionally and knowingly" took part in the death of MO3 (real name Melvin Noble) by hiring Kewon White to kill him for payment and the "promise of remuneration," according to a copy of the indictment. Following MO3's death on Nov. 11, 2020, police told USA TODAY that the shooting suspect — described as an adult Black male — exited his stopped dark sedan armed with a firearm and approached MO3, who exited his stationary car and began running southbound on the highway. The suspect — now identified as White — chased MO3, firing multiple shots and striking him. The rapper was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to a police report obtained by USA TODAY at the time. MO3 was 28 years old. White also struck an innocent bystander, an adult male, who was sitting in a separate car. The second victim was also transported to an area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Beezy grew up in Oak Cliff, a neighborhood in Dallas. His breakthrough came on the 2017 mixtape "Lite Work, Vol. 2," which featured the song "That's On Me." The trap track reportedly peaked at No. 25 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, as well as cracked the Hot 100 chart at No. 56. A star-studded 2018 remix featured appearances from 2 Chainz, T.I., Rich the Kid, Jeezy, Boosie Badazz and Trapboy Freddie. Beezy has had his share of legal troubles and incidents. On October 14, 2018, Beezy was shot on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville, Texas, at approximately 3:30 AM. Reports indicate that his vehicle was struck by gunfire three times. Beezy survived the incident after being hospitalized, and the shooter was later apprehended in downtown Dallas. Who was MO3 and when was he killed? Rapper's death reexamined after Yella Beezy's murder indictment
The 2020 murder of Texas rapper MO3, born Melvin Noble, is back in headlines after Dallas rapper Yella Beezy was formally indicted in connection with the killing. A Dallas County grand jury handed down the indictment on March 18, 2025, alleging Beezy played a role in orchestrating MO3's death by hiring another individual to carry out the hit. MO3 was tragically killed on November 11, 2020, during a brazen midday shooting on Interstate 35 in Dallas. According to a statement by the Dallas Police Department at the time, an 'adult Black male' approached Melvin's vehicle while he was parked, prompting the rapper to flee on foot. The suspect gave chase, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene in a sedan. MO3 succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. Court documents now allege that Beezy offered 'a promise of payment or payment' to Kewon White for the killing. White is currently serving a nine-year federal sentence for firearm offenses linked to the shooting. Another man, Devin Maurice Brown, has also been charged in connection with the case. According to an arrest warrant, Brown was reportedly upset about a relationship between MO3 and a witness, and allegedly helped track MO3's location on the day of the murder. MO3, born on May 31, 1992, in McKinney, Texas, rose to prominence in the Dallas rap scene with his emotional and gritty lyricism. He launched his rap career in 2014 with the release of Shottaz, followed by Shottaz Reloaded and 4 Indictments in 2016. His later projects included Gangsta Love, Shottaz 3.0, Osama, and Badazz Mo3 between 2017 and 2020. In an interview, MO3 once said, "I'm trying to give a message. I ain't trying to rap to make it sound good, I want you to feel it. Of course, it has to sound good. That's the only way they're going to listen. If it sounds good and you're talking about something, you don't just get them to listen — you give them a follow." He derived his stage name from combining family nicknames: 'Lil Mo' from his mother's side and 'Third' from his father's name, leading to 'Mo3.' MO3 is survived by his parents, children—Malaysia, Malia, and Tre'Monye Noble—and a large extended family. His death left a deep void in the Dallas music scene, and the recent developments in Yella Beezy's case have reopened old wounds for fans still mourning his loss.
