Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised the encounter and said that this is for the first time in three decades of India's battle against Naxalism that a general secretary-ranked leader has been neutralised by the security forces. Several senior Naxal cadres including a top Naxal leader are suspected to have been eliminated in the operation which has been ongoing for more than 50 hours. A joint operation was launched in the Abujhmad area based on intelligence about a senior Maoist cadre from the Maad Division. District Reserve Guards (DRG) teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Kondagaon have been engaged in an ongoing encounter. Last week, 31 Naxalites were killed in the biggest-ever operation on the Karreguttalu Hill (KGH) at the Chhattisgarh-Telangana. The Chhattisgarh Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) recovered the bodies of 31 uniformed Naxalites, including 16 female Naxalites in uniform, and 35 weapons after 21 encounters that took place over 21 days on the Karreguttalu Hill (KGH), which was considered an impregnable stronghold of Naxalites on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The anti-Naxal operation, which took place from April 21, 2025, to May 11, 2025, indicates that the bodies recovered from the encounter site might belong to cadres of the banned, illegal, and most powerful armed Naxal organization, the PLGA Battalion, CRC Company, and the Telangana State Committee.
