No gym, no diet! Kapil Sharma loses 11 kgs in 2 months with '21-21-21' rule; experts warn of risks

Kapil Sharma's new look has fans buzzing, with many wondering how the popular comedian managed to come back in shape and appear so lean and sharp. The drastic weight loss, confidence, and glow on his face have caught everyone's attention on the internet. Let's find out what the secret is behind Kapil Sharma's striking look. The 44-year-old comedian, long celebrated for 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' and his impeccable comic timing, is now turning heads for a completely different reason: his remarkable health transformation. However, the catch here is that this wasn't the result of a crash diet or fleeting fitness craze but a disciplined and sustainable lifestyle overhaul guided by celebrity fitness coach Yogesh Bhateja, as per TOI. Most importantly, what truly sets Kapil's journey apart is not just the visible weight loss but the mindful approach behind it. His consistent effort, strategic planning, and the innovative 21-21-21 rule made his transformation a story of habit-building rather than just body-sculpting. As per thr coach, Kapil lost about 11 kilos in just 63 days with just one game-changing practice. No gym, no crash diet: This one rule helped Kapil Sharma lose weight According to the report, it all started when Kapil began his training with Yogesh Bhateja, who has also worked with big names like Sonu Sood and Farah Khan. When Kapil started his training, his body was stiff, his energy levels were low, and inflammation was visibly affecting him. Bajaj was quoted in an interview with Mad Over Growth. Bajaj then went on to explain that the first training session was filled with exaggerated expressions, but slowly his body showed movement. Since Kapil's lifestyle is irregular, marked by late-night shoots, inconsistent eating habits, and poor sleep, even the basic exercises like touching toes and arm circles felt challenging, and this is when Yogesh introduced the 21-21-21 rule to him. What is the 21-21-21 rule for weight loss? In a world where detoxes and crash diets are followed so blindly, Bajaj introduced a refreshing human approach called the 21-21-21 Rule to Kapil Sharma. "The 21-21-21 rule is a weight loss technique that involves a structured eating plan. It comprises three phases: 21 hours of fasting, 21 minutes of exercise, and 21 days of dietary changes," explains Bharathi Kumar, dietician, Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore. According to Kumar, "During the fasting phase, food intake is restricted to a 3-hour window. The exercise phase involves 21 minutes of physical activity daily. The dietary phase focuses on whole foods, portion control, and balanced nutrition for 21 days." Risks and benefits of the 21-21-21 Rule While this method can be effective, it's not for everyone, especially people with medical conditions, eating disorders, or those who are pregnant. "Also, as the food intake window is just 3 hours a day, it's not recommended for beginners. It's wise to consult a healthcare provider before starting," adds Ms. Kumar. "The 21-21-21 rule may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with certain health conditions or nutritional deficiencies. Experts recommend consulting a healthcare professional before starting this plan," she warns. It may be safe for healthy individuals who listen to their bodies and adjust the plan as needed. Personalised treatments for weight loss According to the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity has become a global health threat that affects about 650 million adults across the globe. However, many view it primarily as a cosmetic concern, but the reality is far more complex and potentially dangerous. "Besides being calorie-burning, walking improves metabolism and builds muscle tone in addition to helping in digestion and more," says Dr. Neha Pandita, Consultant Neurologist, Fortis Escorts, Okhla. According to Dr. Pandita, here are some natural and personalised ways for weight loss: Treatment options should be personalised and may include: Lifestyle modifications (diet and exercise) Behavioural therapy Medication when appropriate Minimally invasive procedures like ESG Traditional bariatric surgery is used for severe cases. FAQs Q. What is the 21-21-21 Rule, and how does it work? The 21-21-21 Rule is a structured, 63-day fitness plan designed to promote sustainable weight loss through gradual habit formation. It divides the journey into three 21-day phases Q. Is the 21-21-21 Rule suitable for everyone? The 21-21-21 Rule is designed to be beginner-friendly and can be adapted to individual needs.

No gym, no crash diet: How Kapil Sharma lost 11 kilos in just 63 days with just 1 rule

's new avatar, lean, sharp, and glowing with confidence, has caught everyone's attention. Known for bringing smiles with comic timing, the comedian is now earning praise for something entirely different, his health transformation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Behind this change is not just a trending fitness routine or fad diet, but a thoughtfully planned lifestyle reset led by celebrity fitness trainer Yogesh Bhateja. What made Kapil's story stand out isn't just the weight he lost, it's how it was done. Through honest effort, smart planning, and a technique called the 21-21-21 rule, this journey became less about shrinking the body and more about reshaping habits. Here's all we need to know about the inspiring transformation. The day it all began The beginning wasn't picture-perfect. When Kapil started training with Yogesh Bhateja, who's also worked with names like Sonu Sood and Farah Khan, his body was stiff, energy levels were low, and inflammation was visibly affecting him. This was revealed by Yogesh in an interview with Mad Over Growth with Nitin Bajaj. According to Yogesh, the first training session was filled with exaggerated expressions, true to Kapil's comic spirit, but also showed how disconnected his body had become from movement. Exercises as simple as toe touches and arm circles felt uncomfortable. This wasn't a surprise, given the late-night shoots, erratic food timings, and lack of sleep Kapil had been struggling with. Yet, the very next day, he showed up. That small decision set the tone for the weeks to come. The 21-21-21 rule In a world flooded with detoxes and crash diets, Yogesh introduced a refreshingly human approach, the 21-21-21 Rule. This method divides a fitness journey into three phases of 21 days each, allowing the body and mind to adapt at a steady pace. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Phase 1 – Move before you change For the first 21 days, the focus was on movement, not perfection. Kapil began with basic exercises, think school-style PT workouts, stretching, light jogging, and yoga. No intense weightlifting. No restrictive eating. Just movement. The goal was to build rhythm and reconnect with the body. Without basic mobility, intense workouts can backfire. Kapil's early sessions focused on improving flexibility and reducing inflammation, not burning calories. Phase 2 – Food that feeds, not fills The next 21 days shifted attention to food. There was no ban on carbs or sudden calorie cuts. Instead, Yogesh encouraged mindful eating, fresh home-cooked meals, more vegetables, quality protein like fish, and cutting down on fried, processed, and sugary foods. Kapil's eating habits had no routine earlier, leading to bloating and poor digestion. This phase wasn't about shrinking portions, but restoring balance. Consistency in clean eating is more effective than intensity in restrictions. Comedian Kapil Sharma Phase 3 – Breaking the invisible chains The final 21 days addressed habits that silently sabotage progress. This phase focused on mental strength and emotional awareness. It wasn't just about quitting, but understanding how certain habits drain energy, disturb sleep, and spike cravings. True change demands mental rewiring and lifestyle correction. Small tools, big results Kapil's transformation didn't rely on machines or supplements. In fact, for weeks, the only equipment used was a yoga mat, resistance bands, and a treadmill already at home. The reason was simple, comfort and sustainability. Yogesh believed in meeting people where they are. And for someone like Kapil, who juggled late shoots and high-pressure projects, home workouts saved time, offered flexibility, and built long-term consistency. Kapil Sharma's Weight Loss Journey Wasn't Easy: ‘He Was Sleep-Deprived,' Says Trainer

In a recent interview, Kapil Sharma's fitness trainer - Yogesh Bhateja opened up about how he trained the actor and comedian. He mentioned that the transformation was not easy. Kapil Sharma has surprised many with his recent weight loss, and now his fitness trainer, Yogesh Bhateja, is opening up about how it all happened. The transformation wasn't easy; the actor and comedian had trouble sleeping and followed an irregular diet, making the journey quite challenging. In a YouTube interview on Mad Over Growth with Nitin Bajaj, Yogesh, who has also trained celebrities like Farah Khan, Kangana Ranaut, and Sonu Sood, talked about how the journey began. He shared that Sonu Sood introduced him to Kapil Sharma during the promotions of Happy New Year. Soon after, Kapil's manager contacted Yogesh, saying that the comedian was ready to start his fitness journey. Yogesh started training Kapil at his home, using basic tools like a yoga mat, resistance bands, and Kapil's treadmill. More gym equipment was added later. Watch the video here. Recalling the first day of training, Yogesh said, 'The story of Day 1 is actually pretty funny. I asked him to do stretches, and because he hadn't moved his body in a long time, even simple movements like arm rotations, body twists, and toe touches caused him discomfort. His expressions were so exaggerated and comic… From the very next day, he was back on schedule, and we began with basic movements. That's when I realised how stiff his body had become; there was no food discipline, and a lot of inflammation in his body." He also shared that Kapil's busy work life made things worse. 'Since Kapil was the main guy, the responsibility on him was even greater. He was sleep-deprived, his diet had no set pattern, and he would eat at odd times. There was no discipline. It took me a long time, along with his manager and team, to bring some alignment into his lifestyle. But by God's grace, when his film came out, everyone saw the difference on screen," Yogesh added. As for his meals, Yogesh made changes by adding more fish, calling it 'a great source of protein that helps manage calories." He also included a good amount of vegetables in Kapil's diet. Fans first noticed Kapil's slimmer look in April this year, when he was seen at the airport looking much fitter. While his weight has gone up and down in the past, he's now in great shape and regularly posts stylish photos on social media. On the work front, Kapil is currently hosting Season 3 of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show on Netflix. He is also working on the sequel to his 2015 film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, and shared its first look during Eid this year. view comments First Published: July 26, 2025, 10:57 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
