Chalo Delhi Ends…INDIA bloc allies throw weight behind T Cong's BC quota fight
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress's 'Mahadharna' received major backing from parties of the INDIA bloc, who vowed to support the campaign. While some recalled the Periyar movement, others drew parallels between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, whose role in achieving 69% reservation in the southern state remains significant. The demonstration held at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday saw INDIA bloc allies NCP, DMK, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Samajwadi Party showing solidarity in support of Telangana's fight to secure 42% BC reservation. NCP leader SupriyaSule described Revanth Reddy as the most successful Chief Minister of Telangana. Reassuring support from INDIA alliance partners, she affirmed that the Telangana CM would receive all the support from the alliance. She recalled how Revanth Reddy, who remained optimistic about Congress coming to power in Telangana, had never aspired to become CM but donned the mantle with his positive approach. 'Similar to Karunanidhi's role in achieving reservation being etched in golden words, Revanth Reddy, who represents the new generation of leaders, is second only to him. His endeavour for bringing social justice will also be etched in gold words,' she said. Challenging the cap on reservation, Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK leader Kanimozhi wondered, 'How can there be a cap on justice?' The Tamil leader said that the DMK would stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight for achieving BC reservation. 'This is not just to fight for 42% OBC reservation but to get more than that,' she asserted. Samajwadi Party leader Dharmendra Yadav described Telangana's demand as the demand of all the weaker sections from across the country. He said the SP would remain committed until it is accepted. 'It is the weaker sections who brought the NDA to its crutches. We shall fight until this [caste survey] is implemented in all the states,' he said. Meanwhile, the absence of key AICC leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, caused some discomfiture among partymen. While the Telangana MPs moved an adjournment motion, the lack of support from the party leadership in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha has raised questions about the efforts of CM Revanth Reddy.

Denial of appointment by Prez an insult to TG: CM
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has described the denial of appointment by President Draupadi Murmu to Telangana leaders on BC reservation issue as 'an insult to the State'. He said a plan of action would be initiated at Telangana Congress' Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting shortly in Hyderabad to put both BJP and BRS in the dock. He said MPs from both parties should explain why they failed to take part in the Mahadharna on August 6. Addressing a press conference along with his cabinet colleagues in New Delhi on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said that Telangana people were observing the actions of BRS and BJP and that the Congress was out to expose their behavior. Revanth Reddy said that a decision would be reached whether 42 per cent reservation be given within the party before the polls to local bodies or if there was other possible solution. He said local body elections would be held by September 30. He said that the argument that Rahul and Kharge did not come to Wednesday's dharna was 'meaningless'. 'If Kishan Reddy has doubts, I will arrange an official meeting and make him aware. The details of all castes have been collected and a caste census conducted,' Revanth Reddy said on questions raised by Kishan Reddy on caste survey. Revanth Reddy blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the denial of appointment by the President. 'They prevented us from getting an appointment. This is regrettable and painful and an insult to the people of Telangana,' he alleged. In a strong rebuke, the Chief Minister said that the BJP was obstructing the increase of BC quota proposed by the Telangana government on the pretext of Muslims being included in the BC quota. The Chief Minister clarified that the Telangana BC quota bills sent for President approval were not prepared on religion or caste lines. SC, ST and OBC quota were allocated en bloc in the elections to local bodies. Revanth explained that in 2017, a Muslim named Abdul Sattar was selected for IAS under the OBC quota in Rajasthan. BC reservations were provided for Noorbasha and others since 1971.

If Prez Denies Appointment…Cong plans ‘Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan'
Hyderabad: In case of denial of President's appointment, Telangana Congress leaders, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, will be organising 'Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan' on Thursday. According to party sources, the leaders are still optimistic about the appointment. But in case President Droupadi Murmu denies, the next plan of action would be marching towards the official residence of the President. 'Our next plan of action in case an appointment is denied will be building further pressure. We shall be holding a dharna at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 'Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan' will be the next idea to highlight the issue of BC reservations in the national capital,' said a BC leader in Delhi. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi who could not attend the Mahadharna at Jantar Mantar as he was attending final rights of Shibu Soren urged President Droupadi Murmu to give her assent to Telangana's reservation bills. "The Telangana Government and Congress sat on a dharna in Delhi today, demanding President's assent to the law reserving 42% for backward classes in education, employment and local government. This law is a major advance towards the Constitution's vision of social justice, grounded in data from the caste census," the Congress leader posted on X.
