WATCH: Samay Raina makes comeback with emotional post after India's Got Latent row
By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on May 13, 2025, 12:39 IST After weeks of silence and controversy, comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina has returned to Instagram with a powerful and emotional post, marking his first public appearance since the backlash surrounding his show India's Got Latent . In a black-and-white video shared today, Raina is seen walking silently toward a spotlight on an empty stage, hinting at a quiet but determined comeback. The post was captioned only with fire and cloud emojis, leaving fans to interpret its meaning, but the comments made one thing clear — 'Samay is back.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Samay Raina (@maisamayhoon) Earlier, amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Raina had broken his silence via Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt note about his family in Jammu. The comedian recalled his last phone call with his father, a journalist based in Jammu, who had assured him of safety despite the ongoing drone strikes and blackouts across several Indian states including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. 'My father calls me one last time tonight from Jammu to say goodnight. His voice, steady and calm, urges me to sleep and not worry — the Indian armed forces have everything under control,' Raina wrote. 'My utmost respect to the armed forces and their families for all the sacrifices they make for our safety. Goodnight. Jai Hind,' he added, saluting the soldiers on the front lines. This emotional message resonated with many, especially as citizens across border regions faced repeated drone threats and power outages. Samay Raina had earlier found himself in hot water after a controversial episode of India's Got Latent sparked legal and public backlash. The show, known for its edgy humor, drew criticism after a comment by guest Ranveer Allahbadia led to multiple police complaints. Raina, the show's creator and host, was summoned thrice by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and also faced questioning from the Guwahati Crime Branch. He later removed the episode, apologized, and cooperated with the investigation. With canceled shows and heavy criticism, Raina had remained absent from the spotlight—until now. While the controversy still lingers, today's post signals a possible return and a new chapter for one of India's most prominent comedy creators. India's Got Latent Row: Supreme Court Orders Return Of Passport To YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia
The Supreme Court ordered the release of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's passport after being informed that the investigation against him in the India's Got Latent case was complete. In a relief to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in the India's Got Latent controversy, the Supreme Court on Monday ordered the release of his passport, but with conditions. The development came after the court was informed that the investigation against Allahbadia had been completed, and that he would appear whenever required. Following the order, Allahbadia was allowed to apply for his passport release from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. On April 1, the Supreme Court had said it would consider Allahbadia's application to release his passport to travel abroad, after the investigation in the case is completed. A row had erupted after controversial remarks made by him and others in an episode of India's Got Latent. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Maharashtra government, told the top court that the investigation will be completed in the case in two weeks. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and NK Singh also extended its interim order of granting protection to the podcaster from arrest in the First Information Report (FIR)s registered against him in Guwahati, Mumbai and Jaipur. The court was hearing his petition seeking the clubbing of FIRs registered against him across the country. Earlier, the top court had permitted Allahabadia to resume his podcast 'The Ranveer Show', subject to maintaining standards of decency and morality. First Published: April 28, 2025, 13:52 IST

Ranveer Allahbadia says Samay Raina ‘will be back' amid ‘India's Got Latent' probe
Listen to article YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia has spoken out during an ongoing controversy surrounding the now-suspended talent show "India's Got Latent", offering emotional insight into his mental health and his bond with fellow content creators. Two months on, the accused— Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and others—are gradually resuming their routines. However, Samay Raina, the show's host, has stayed away from professional engagements since the controversy unfolded. Ranveer has now offered an update on their friendship and shared thoughts on Samay's potential return. On wednesday (April 16), Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps—addressed fan questions in an Instagram AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Wednesday. Photo: Instagram Asked if he was still in contact with comedian and host Samay Raina, Allahbadia responded: 'Samay will be back. All of us have gotten closer after the events. Stand by each other in good times as well as in bad times. My brother is already a media legend.' He also expressed gratitude towards fellow accused creators, saying: 'Love you @ashishchanchlani & @ as well. Picture abhi baaki hai…' In the same AMA session, Allahbadia responded to a follower's concern about his mental well-being and the toll the controversy has taken on his family. 'This part of the chaos hurt the most,' he wrote. 'When you work, your actions have an impact on your loved ones. But both my parents are warriors. That's where I get my mentality from. It was tough, but we are getting past it.' When asked what he feared most during the controversy, the creator admitted it was the possibility of letting down his team members' families. He said the livelihoods of over 300 employees were at stake due to the backlash. Despite not having fully 'overcome' the fallout, Allahbadia said that he is determined to move forward. 'God is with me, I know it,' he wrote. He also shared a reflective list of what he has lost and gained during the ordeal: 'Lost: health, money, opportunity, repute, mental health, peace, parents' contentment & much more. Gained: transformation, spiritual growth, toughness. Will slowly work towards getting back everything that's lost. Let the work speak.' The "India's Got Latent" controversy, which erupted earlier this year, led to scrutiny by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. On April 15, both Allahbadia and Raina appeared before investigators for their third round of questioning.

'India's Got Latent' row: Maharashtra Cyber Cell refuses Samay Raina's request to record statement via video conferencing
Maharashtra Cyber Cell has refused the plea of YouTuber Samay Raina requesting to record his statement in the India's Got Latent controversy via videoconferencing. Samay in his plea said that he is currently in the US and won't be able to return to India before March 17 due to prior commitments. Maharashtra Cyber Cell said that Raina has been asked to record his statement in person on February 18. The Raina hosted show India's Got Latent has been embroiled in controversy over comments made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia. Following a massive backlash, a formal complaint was filed against Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the organisers of India's Got Latent. Samay later took to his Instagram Stories to share a statement, stating that he had removed all videos of the show from his channel and was "fully cooperating" with the authorities. He also added that his only intention was to entertain people. "Everything that has been happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India's Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you," Samay wrote on his Instagram Story. On Friday, the Youtuber and Podcaster approached the Supreme Court seeking to club multiple FIRs lodged against him across India over his recent comments.
