The Indian auto market is heading for a 7-seater revolution, with major players like Maruti, Tata, Mahindra, MG, Renault, and Nissan set to roll out several all-new models in 2025–26. With premium new models hitting the roads, the 7-seater segment is expected to receive a huge boost. Offering spacious cabins, extra seating, and the comfort ideal for long road trips, these upcoming launches promise to redefine family travel. Here's a sneak peek at what's hitting the roads soon. Top 5 upcoming 7-seater cars to be launched in India in 2025-26 1. Mahindra XEV 7e In India, Mahindra is set to introduce a brand-new 7-seater electric SUV. Known as the XEV 7e, it is the electric version of its XUV700 model. The EV SUV, which is anticipated to debut by the end of 2025, will be built on the same INGLO skateboard platform as the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The XEV 7e is expected to come with rear-wheel drive as standard and two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. At launch, we anticipate that the XEV 7e will be available in both 6-seater and 7-seater variants. 2. MG Majestor In the upcoming months, perhaps during the holiday season, the much-anticipated MG Majestor will make its debut. The Gloster's facelifted 7-seater full-size SUV has a new exterior style that is similar to the Maxus D90 SUV that is offered in foreign countries. The well-known 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which produces 216 bhp and 479 Nm of peak torque, will power it. Power will be distributed to the back wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, with 4WD available as an option. 3. Nissan 7-Seater Compact MPV It has been revealed that the Nissan 7-seater MPV will be available in India in the first quarter of 2026. It will share the CMF-A platform and be based on the Renault Triber. The company previously released a teaser that showcased the future MPV's sleek and contemporary style. The well-known 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 72 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque, is expected to power the Nissan 7-seater MPV. It will be coupled to a 5-speed manual and an AMT transmission. 4. Hyundai 7-seater Hybrid SUV For the Indian market, Hyundai is presently developing a new 7-seater hybrid SUV. We anticipate it to be positioned above the Alcazar in the brand's lineup under the internal codename Ni1i. The 3-row SUV will have a potent hybrid drivetrain that will be shared with the next Creta, making it competitive with vehicles like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. The new Hyundai 7-seater SUV is anticipated to make its debut in 2027, while the precise launch date is unknown. 5. Renault Boreal The Boreal SUV, which has already had its global debut, is anticipated to be on sale in India in the second half of 2026. The Boreal, which is based on the Dacia Bigster, is probably going to be available in the Indian market in a 7-seater form. The SUV, which has a wheelbase of 2,702 mm and a length of 4,556 mm, is supported by the CMF modular platform. The Renault Boreal's 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine powers it internationally and comes in petrol and flex fuel versions. A 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox is linked to the engine.

Mahindra to pursue engineering actions to address rare earth magnet crisis: Group CFO

Mahindra plans to manage rare earth magnet supplies through alternative sourcing channels for the next nine months and will pursue engineering efforts to address the shortage of the critical raw material amid a growing product portfolio. This comes after the auto industry has been facing a crunch in the rare earth magnet supply, which is one of the key raw materials for automotive production, used in both electric vehicles as well as internal combustion engine-propelled vehicles. The imposition of export restrictions by China on key rare earth magnets has resulted in supply chain bottlenecks, impacting multiple sectors, including the auto industry. The rare earth magnets are essential components across sectors like automobiles and renewable energy. "Basis, all the actions we have taken, FY26 is more or less managed. We have to now work on some medium and long-term actions," said Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Group Chief Financial Officer Amarjyoti Barua. He also added that this strategy has panned out well for the company so far, and it does not foresee any major risk for the next nine months. "But considering the growth plans we have, we have to think about a much bigger play than what the tactical plays we have done, and that is going to require a lot more engineering effort," Barua further said, while adding that Mahindra's engineers are working on various methods to work out a solution. Interestingly, Mahindra CFO's comment comes in similar lines to Maruti Suzuki. Last week, Maruti Suzuki stated that its engineers are working to mitigate the rare earth magnet shortage, and there has been no impact on its production so far. Among others, Hyundai Motor India has also stated that it is not facing any production issues due to the shortage of rare earth magnets. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2025, Best SUVs in India. Mahindra XEV 7e spotted testing ahead of launch. Here's what we know so far

The XEV 7e maintains the XUV700's familiar shape, while introducing a few design cues from Mahindra's Electric Vision lineup Notify me Mahindra is slowly expanding its EV offering, and its upcoming addition, the XEV 7e, the all-electric XUV700, was spotted out on a road test. This all-electric SUV should be priced as the XEV 7e, and it seems the electric SUV is on a good path forward, as new spy images reveal aspects of its design cues, interior details, and technical set-up. Placed between the BE6 and XEV 9e in the Mahindra EV hierarchy, the XEV 7e may arrive by late 2025. Mahindra XEV 7e: Expected design Though the test mule, heavily camouflaged, the XEV 7e maintains the XUV700's familiar shape, while introducing a few design cues from Mahindra's Electric Vision lineup, imbuing it with a clear EV identity. The most significant exterior changes are a closed-off front grille for reduced aerodynamic drag, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, and aero-optimised dual-tone alloy wheels. Flush-fitting door handles, like those found on the XEV 9e and BE 6, add to the aerodynamic appearance, while a panoramic sunroof contributes to the upmarket feel. Though its profile is reminiscent of the ICE-powered XUV700, these styling cues clearly signal the XEV 7e's position within Mahindra's new-generation electric vehicle lineup. Also Read : Mahindra Bolero Neo revealed with LED headlamps and boxy design during testing Mahindra XEV 7e: Expected features The interior of the Mahindra XEV 7e is expected to take strong cues from the XEV 9e, reflecting a modern and tech-forward design language. It will likely have Mahindra's latest two-spoke steering wheel with an LED-lit emblem, along with a three-piece dashboard design that seamlessly integrates the infotainment and driver's display. The interior also will no doubt have multi-zone climate control, ventilated front seats with memory setting, and an impressive 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience. Some of the other highlights could be ambient lighting and remote parking assistance, which could be brought over from the XEV 9e. To add to the premium experience, Mahindra is also likely to launch fresh interior color schemes and improved materials that resonate with the SUV's electric persona. Mahindra XEV 7e: Expected specifications The Mahindra XEV 7e is going to be constructed on the company's modular INGLO skateboard platform, which has been specially designed for electric cars. It will most probably take its powertrain options from current offerings such as the BE 6 and XEV 9e and offer battery pack options of 59 kWh and 79 kWh that will have a driving range of up to 600 km on a full charge. Also Read : Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 Pack 2 with 79 kWh battery pack launched Further, Mahindra has been said to be developing new battery pack configurations, potentially in the range of 60–65 kWh for lower models and more than 80 kWh for upper trims. The XEV 7e is also said to be compatible with ultra-fast charging to lower downtime and enhance long-distance practicality. The XEV 7e is also said to be made available in RWD as well as AWD configurations. While the entry-level variants might use a single motor on the rear axle, upper trims might receive a two-motor AWD system producing approximately 325 bhp. Mahindra XEV 7e: Launch Timeline Though Mahindra has not announced a launch schedule yet, the XEV 7e may emerge officially in late 2025. With a grand EV festival being hosted on August 15, 2025, the SUV might be teased along with other electric variants. Upon its launch, it will fill the space between the BE 6 and XEV 9e in Mahindra's expanding portfolio of electric vehicles. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2025, Best SUVs in India.
