King Charles' 'hunky' kilt-wearing aide marries again in 'low-key ceremony'

King Charles' equerry Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, who is often seen at the King's side and has won over a legion of online fans, has married for the second time, it has emerged He has won over a legion of fans after never being far from King Charles ' side at some of his most high-profile appearances. Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson has become known as the 'hunky' equerry after catching the eye of royal fans while on duty with both the King and Queen Camilla in his trademark kilt. And now it has emerged he has tied the knot for a second time, months after becoming engaged to PR executive Olivia Lewis. It emerged last year that the soldier, who is from the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, had struck up a romance with Olivia after he split from his first wife several years ago. ‌ ‌ And according to the Mail On Sunday, the pair tied the knot just over a week ago in an 'elegant' and 'low-key' ceremony at St Mary's Church in Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, which was followed by a lunch hosted by the bride's parents. However, it seems it was shortly back to work after the big day as just two days later, the equerry was spotted in Canada with the King and Queen on their whistlestop visit across the Atlantic. It emerged that the equerry had found love with Olivia last year after around a year of dating, with the pair being described as "well matched and very happy" at the time. Their engagement was later announced in The Times with the happy news coming just months after he won a promotion to become Charles' 'super equerry'. Lt Col Thompson is now in a new role, which is seeing him stay on to work with both the King and Queen and be in charge of the monarch's private affairs - but unfortunately for fans, this will mean he won't be seen as much with the royals in public. Equerries are drawn from the armed forces and are required to assist the royals both inside their residences and when out and about on public engagements. This means he has been at the King's side ever since his reign began and played a prominent role at the late Queen's funeral, the Coronation and also won over a new set of fans across the English Channel when he accompanied Charles and Camilla on their trip to France in 2023. ‌ He was also seen sitting behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at a service to mark the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year. Also, he welcomed former Prime Minster Rishi Sunak as he visited Buckingham Palace to see the King. One fan previously wrote on X: "Major Jonny Thompson is a tremendous hunk!" While another one said: "I think I'm getting a wee crush on King Charles's new royal equerry." He also earned the attention of society bible Tatler magazine, which praised his ability to "look as good in a suit as he goes in a kilt." It explained: "It is from within the palace walls that the King's equerry wields his unique brand of quiet, charming power; but he's spotted where it counts, at the coronation, or on the opening night of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, for example, to which he wore a bunny tie and charmed India Rose James." Upstaged by a supermodel: how Meghan fell out with Vogue

I did have a tiny chuckle when I read the story of why Edward Enninful, former editor of Vogue, is no longer on speaking terms with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. No doubt your mind is on higher things than mine, so I'll bring you up to speed. One of the biggest mysteries among the fashion chatterati in recent times has been why did Edward and Meghan, once famously firm texting buddies, fall out? Last weekend The Mail on Sunday reported it was all down to a spat over Vogue's front cover. Meghan was due to feature across several pages in Vogue's September 2022 issue, talking about her charitable work. The coverage was apparently set to coincide with her keynote appearance at the One Young

Senior Tory embroiled in 'furry' sex scandal... after accidentally sending photograph of himself dressed as a dog into a work WhatsApp group

A senior Tory has been embroiled in a 'furry' sex scandal after a texting blunder. The politician accidentally sent a photograph of himself dressed as a dog being led on a leash to a group of colleagues on WhatsApp. The photograph appeared to reveal he is a 'furry'—someone who enjoys dressing up as an animal as a sexual preference. Two sources familiar with the breach described the photograph to The Mail on Sunday and said it was quickly deleted. The WhatsApp group was full of fellow Conservatives and used for work. One said they were 'shocked' by the blunder, which occurred at the end of last year. 'The assessment came that he is a furry. It was assumed he did this as a hobby rather than for innocent fun.' Another source said: 'I had to explain [to one of the recipients] what a furry was.' The politician, whom this newspaper has chosen not to name, has been involved with campaigning for the party at a senior level during the recent local elections and last year's general election, and has rubbed shoulders with senior members of the Shadow Cabinet. It is the latest communications blunder to have hit the Conservative Party in recent months. Last month The Mail on Sunday revealed secret Tory documents ended up in Labour hands after accidentally being emailed to a researcher with the same name as an aide to Kemi Badenoch. The documents included strategic planning by Mrs Badenoch's inner circle, and the mistake occurred because a Commons researcher was cc-ed on an email chain instead of the Tory official. And Tory justice spokesman Robert Jenrick recently suffered his own messaging gaffe when his team added 600 people – including dozens of journalists – to a WhatsApp group about his plan to run a marathon. It led to jokes that Mr Jenrick was 'running' for leader again, having come second to Mrs Badenoch in last year's leadership race.

Keeping up with Liz Jones

Liz Jones's long-running diary column has been hugely popular among Mail On Sunday readers for over 25 years – not surprisingly given its soul-bearing over toxic relationships, financial crises and various acts of self-sabotage. But are its contents 100% true? Former colleagues of Jones at what used to be the Evening Standard are gobsmacked at her most recent outpouring, which includes the claim that while she was working on the paper there were 'endless days when I'd have to wee in my chair as there were so many pages to fill'. Jones went on to claim that on the day of the 7/7 bombings in 2005, she sent a 'pretty young reporter to the Royal London Hospital with an armful of flowers… so she could pretend to be a relative', instructing her: 'I want anyone without limbs. Photos, go, now!'
