Images obtained by the the Mail On Sunday show Meredith Maines, the duke's chief communications officer, and Liam Maguire, who runs Harry and Meghan's UK public relations team, meeting the King's communications secretary Tobyn Andreae at the Royal Over-Seas League near Clarence House.
The Mail reports it is not known which side initiated the meeting, but a source told the paper: 'There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years.
'There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.'
Both parties have been contacted for comment.
The rift between the Sussexes and the royal family opened significantly following their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which they alleged a member of the family was concerned about their son Archie's skin tone before he was born.
Then the duke claimed in his controversial memoir, Spare, his brother the Prince of Wales had physically attacked him and that the King put his own interests above Harry's and was jealous of Meghan.
Harry's level of security changed in 2020 when he and Meghan stepped down as working royals and moved to California for financial and personal freedom, and he suggested the royal family and officials hoped his realisation of the increased safety risk 'would force us to come back'.
The duke failed in an appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office, over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK.
In a BBC television interview after losing the latest round in his court battle over his security, Harry claimed the King will not speak to him and he does not know 'how much longer my father has' as he spoke of his hopes for a 'reconciliation' with his family.
Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February last year.

And things continue along the same path, with tense words exchanged after brutally honest clips play out on screen. This evening will see a furious Toni shout at Blu, as he questions her behaviour. A clip is replayed of Cach crying on the terrace and being comforted by Ty, after Toni recoupled with Harrison in recent weeks. Now, Cach and Toni's romantic spark has been reignited, but that didn't stop Blu from shouting over to Toni: 'How do you feel about that, Toni?' Toni coldly replies: 'Everyone knows how I feel about it.' She also says: 'Now do you see how you make people feel,' referring to a clip they showed of her best pal in the villa, Shakira, crying. But Blu shoots right back: 'Did you see what you did to Cach?' Toni has none of it, as she fires back: 'Shut the f*** up. Talk about situations that you've been here for.' Love Island fans claim desperate Harry is 'picking fight' with Helena in a bid to hook up with her villa rival The comments have been flooded by fans slamming Blu for piping up, with one person writing: 'Blu is trying so hard to be relevant 6 weeks later and get some air time.' Another penned: 'Blu give it a rest please you ain't it,' and a third echoed: 'Blu trying so hard to be iconic now that he knows what the public thinks. Get him out.' The Grafties have caused fiery exchanges between the Islanders, as they've witnessed conversations play out on screen that they had no idea about. Harry's actions in particular have been exposed, much to the shock of Helena. And according to viewers, footballer Harry picked a fight with Helena on purpose and used the information received during The Grafties as a way out. Fans watched last night as an angry Harry accused Helena of playing games and not being 'all about him' when she returned to the villa after the Sleepover. A bemused Helena argued it was 'weeks ago' and was not the same as him flirting outrageously with a number of girls, most recently Angel. Harry was seen becoming riled by Helena's previous behaviour - although they weren't even together at the time. Viewers have now clocked Harry's escape plan - so he can go back to ex Shakira - who he was previously coupled up. Harry barked during their heated chat at The Grafties: "I thought you were all for me when you came back?" Toni noted: "He's just trying to pick a fight with her." Conor agreed: "That's crazy behaviour." The official Love Island Instagram account asked fans: "Is Harry picking fights or bringing up fair points?" Users commented: "Picking fights as an excuse to crawl back to Shakira and blame Helena." A second predicted: "When you wish to end a relationship, you find every little thing about the other person irritating, and that is what Harry is trying to do." A third agreed: "Harry has some cheek after all he has said and done - that was pure excuse to slip off from Helena on to Shakira." "Welcome to Harry's Gas Lighting class, please take your seats," mocked another. "He's trying to start something just to start something," mused a fan. 4 Harry's actions in particular have been exposed Credit: ITV

Denise Welch fans left baffled as she adopts bizarre new accent on US talk show

Loose Women star Denise Welch appeared on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen where she debuted a brand-new 'transatlantic accent' Denise Welch has left fans baffled after she unveiled a brand-new accent while being interviewed on a US talkshow. The Loose Women panellist appeared on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen where she debuted her seemingly new accent. ‌ The TV star, 67, has been accused of making her accent 'non-binary' and 'more posh' by fans on X who have commented on the now viral clip of Denise, 67, sharing her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after revealing what she really thinks of Taylor Swift. ‌ In the clip, Denise was asked what the UK's general opinion is on Harry and Meghan as it stands today. In response, Denise insisted that she is the only panelist on Loose Women who supports and likes the former Royals - but it was were new dulcet tones that got viewers talking rather than her thoughts on the couple. ‌ "Well, I have a very different view to a lot of people. On the show that I do at home, called Loose Women, I'm the only one who flies the Prince Harry and Meghan flag and I know them. I've met a few of the Royals over the years but I have never met them. "I just think that the amount of bullying by the press, both British and American, that that woman gets.... Remember she was in those rooms as a young black American woman. She had a big voice in Unicef and in the United Nations and she was in a lot of those big rooms before Harry was. ‌ "I just kind of try to fly the flag a bit. You've got to remember that this is a boy who was forced at 12-years-old to walk behind his mother's coffin. His dad had been unfaithful and he grew up in that world. I think for him to want to say his piece is something quite admirable." After speaking with Andy Cohen, social media users pointed out Denise's sudden change in accent. Taking to X, one wrote: "So why has Denise completely changed her accent? She sounds so much more posh. Trying to impress I see." Another questioned: "What happened to her accent? WTF." ‌ "I can't get over Denise's new non-binary accent. Her diversity. We've lost her to the states I fear," another joked. Someone else echoed: "She has a transatlantic accent." And another mocked: "I thought this was AI." Elsewhere in the interview, the TV star didn't hold back as she shared her thoughts on her son Matty Healy's brief romance with Taylor Swift. Denise was asked about her famous son Matty who is the lead singer of The 1975. ‌ Denise was immediately asked about his relationship with Taylor, and specifically, what she thought about the pop star's Tortured Poets Department album. Taylor, who is dating Travis Kelce, is known to write songs about her high-profile relationships and fans dissected the album to figure out which tracks were written about Matty. Denise seemingly claimed Taylor's fans hit out at any person who dares to criticise the 35-year-old pop star. When Andy asked what she thought of the hit album, Denise said: "Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost." The straightforward comment shocked everyone in the room, including Andy. She quickly tried to calm things down as she added: "Not that I have anything against her at all! It was just - it was tricky." She then suggested it's difficult to comment on anything to do with Taylor, as her fans would negatively react to it. "She - listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it," Denise explained. Denise said that Matty has taken the album's personal tracks 'all in completely good grace,' and added: "He's very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriella," referring to singer Gabbriette. "So we've moved on," the ITV presenter said.
