RIP: Bafana star tragically loses mom on Mother's Day
In tragic news that came to light on Sunday, the death of the mother of Bafana Bafana striker Cassius Mailula was confirmed in a tribute shared by his club Wydad AC. 'The club stands with Cassius Mailula during this difficult time and extends heartfelt sympathies to him and his family,' read the club's message. The tragic news came just after he had shared a special mother's day message to his mom, calling her 'my queen'. Mailula came through the youth ranks at Mamelodi Sundowns before making a big impact for the senior team across 2022 and 2023. He then moved to Toronto FC in Canada. After only making eight appearances for Toronto which included two goals, he then joined Wydad on a loan deal, and the 23-year-old has featured prominently for them ever since. Mailula has earned a couple of caps for Bafana Bafana, but has not featured for the national team since 2023. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs gunning for MLS flop, struggling in Morocco
Kaizer Chiefs are prepping an audacious swoop for ex-Sundowns star Cassius Mailula. Looking at the numbers, is this worth the risk? Cassius Mailula, now 23 years old and playing on loan with Wydad AC from USA MLS side Toronto FC, could be returning to SA. The former Sundowns man has three goals and six assists in 24 Moroccan Botola Pro League outings this term. For Toronto FC, where he's still on the books, Mailula only managed two goals in eight appearances before being shipped out. Injuries to key central defensive trio Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel meant that Nabi had a patchwork pair of Zitha Kwinika and Bradley Cross. Dillan Solomons and Happy Mashiane are hardly a full-back duo to breed much confidence. Meanwhile, utility man Edmilson Dove is sidelined. Click for details These sworn Soweto Derby rivals meet in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, 03 May at 15:00. They meet again the following Saturday, 10 May in the Nedbank Cup final. That match also kicks off at 15:00. It's crunch time! Rwanda National Team manager Adel Amrouche has confirmed French interest in Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. The 25-year-old was a regular in the Chiefs first team when he arrived, but inopportune injuries have pushed him down the pecking order. Ntwari, who came from TS Galaxy in July 2024, has only made seven appearances for Chiefs. 'There is a second division club from France; they also asked me about him,' Amrouche told FARPost . Would a move for Mailula excite the Kaizer Chiefs fans? Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. RUMOUR: Kaizer Chiefs make bold move for ex-Sundowns Superstar
Kaizer Chiefs are keen to make an audacious move for a man who used to score goals for fun in the PSL with Sundowns. Cassius Mailula, now 23 years old and playing on loan with Wydad AC from USA MLS side Toronto FC, could be returning to SA. 'For Wydad, it will depend on whether coach Rulani Mokwena is still there or if whoever takes over still needs him,' a source told SoccerLaduma . 'Then there is interest from Europe. So, Chiefs have to outbid all the other interest if they are to have a chance of signing him. But it's true they have shown interest in Mailula.' 'Chiefs have enquired about him, but you know he is a Toronto FC player, and they are the ones to make the final decision. 'Are they loaning him out again, or can Chiefs buy him from them? But as for Chiefs being interested in him, that's true, and they are ready to fight for his signature.' Injuries to key central defensive trio Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel meant that Nabi had a patchwork pair of Zitha Kwinika and Bradley Cross. Dillan Solomons and Happy Mashiane are hardly a full-back duo to breed much confidence. Meanwhile, utility man Edmilson Dove is sidelined. 'Are they loaning him out again or can Chiefs buy him from them? But as for Chiefs being interested in him that's true and they are ready to fight for his signature.' ADVERTISEMENT Mayele talks stall? Another player on the Glamour Boys radar is Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele, however, he too will be tricky to land amid reports of the Egyptian giants, desperate to keep him, recently tabling a two-year extension. 'They are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him. So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well,' Soccer Laduma reported. Another source reaffirmed the interest, reporting that, 'Whether Pryamids are offering him a new two-year deal or not, Chiefs have made him their top target for next season after failing to sign him this season. So, although it's believed that his team are offering him a new deal, Chiefs are still interested in signing him,' the second source revealed. PREDICTIONS: Will Kaizer Chiefs sign Mialula? Kaizer Chiefs to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns striker?
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly keen on Casius Mailula, who is at Wydad on loan from Toronto FC. Mailula's loan at Wydad AC is set to conclude on July 31, 2025, with the Moroccan club holding an option to make the transfer permanent. Since joining Wydad, Mailula has made 16 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists. With his coach Rulani Mokwena set to leave Wydad, Kaizer Chiefs realise the 23-year-old is unlikely to stay. 'Chiefs have enquired about him but you know he is a Toronto FC player and they are the ones to make the final decision. Are they loaning him out again or can Chiefs buy him from them?
