Sundowns, Chiefs or Pirates? Mailula responds: 'I love Sundowns'
Mailula is currently on the books for US-based outfit Toronto FC who he joined from Sundowns over a year ago.
However, the young attacker was loaned out to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club to get more game time.
He shone for Wydad at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup where he even scored but his efforts were not enough as they crashed out in the group stage.
Now, it's back to reality for Mailula after leaving Wydad as he heads back to Toronto FC where he is not guaranteed game time.
In an interview with Andile Ncube on Metro FM, Mailula admitted that he still has the ambition to play abroad, and eventually in a bigger European league.
And asked whether or not coming back to the PSL is a possibility, the 24-year-old said, for now his focus is on playing abroad.
But should there be an opportunity to return home, Mailula would consider it provided the offer is right.
A move to either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs a possibility? Mailula was clear that his heart will always be with Sundowns if he were to return to the PSL. Mamelodi Sundowns looking to re-sign Cassius Mailula? Image: iDiski Times
'I love Sundowns… I love Sundowns, Sundowns is home,' Mailula responded.
'I think even the president and the chairman knows, that is my first love. Before I can think of other things or teams, I'll obviously start with Sundowns.
'And after that, if things don't go well in terms of negotiations then I can think of other things. But for me, Sundowns is my home,' he added.

News position for Orlando Pirates star?
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has declined personal credit after Kamogelo Sebelebele's heroic performance in a makeshift right-back position. Last Saturday, the Thembisa-born star struck an equaliser against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinals at Orlando Stadium. Following Deano Van Rooyen's exit, Sebebelele moved to right-back before his goal cancelled out Teboho Mokoena's opener and kept the tie alive at 1-1. Analyst sends a warning to Kaizer Chiefs 'It doesn't mean that I did a fantastic job… I had a feeling that it'd work and it worked. I knew that he [Sebelebele] can be efficient at right-back and I was looking for somebody, as we were trailing 1-0, who's able to use the channel and deliver some crosses while he's also good defensively. 'Sometimes it [changing players' natural positions] works like it worked today, but sometimes it doesn't work. It [that Sebelebele impressed at right-back] doesn't mean that I did a fantastic job, no! I had a feeling that it'd work and it worked, but maybe another day it won't work and people will say it's not a good change, but I am happy today it worked,' the Orlando Pirates mentor concluded. Orlando Pirates star for big clubs in Europe
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has tipped Mbekezeli Mbokazi for a bright future after his commanding display in the 1-1 MTN8 semi-final first-leg draw with Mamelodi Sundowns at a packed Orlando Stadium. The 19-year-old Bafana Bafana defender stood tall at centre-back against the league's most dangerous attack, even providing the fabulous diagonal pass that set up Kamogelo Sebelebele's equaliser. With Nkosinathi Sibisi injured and Tapelo Xoki on the bench, Mbokazi wore the armband with pride – and didn't look out of place leading the Soweto giants on such a big stage. 'Let me be very honest, and you have to be careful when you compliment someone, they stop working,' Ouaddou told the media. 'But I have to say it, as a coach, when I compliment a player that is doing well, it's good for their mentality, confidence, and self-esteem. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Second striker and new winger 'This guy [Mbokazi], if he continues to work, continue to be professional and take care of his lifestyle, I think he he as a great future. 'I have seen him again today [Saturday], he is just unbelievable, it's a performance for big clubs in Europe, and we are happy to have him at Orlando Pirates, a big club in Africa, but he has to keep working,' the Orlando Pirates mentor concluded. Coming up next for the Buccaneers is the visit of Stellenbosch FC at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday at 19:30. ‘We must play to win' – Cardoso on Sundowns' MTN8 ambitions
'You need to play the next match to win because if you win, then you go through,' said Cardoso. Before Mamelodi Sundowns can turn their focus to Saturday's second leg of the MTN8 semi-final against Orlando Pirates, they face the small matter of a Betway Premiership clash away to Magesi FC on Wednesday. ALSO READ: Ouaddou hails Pirates after come back draw against Sundowns The looming return fixture at home to the Buccaneers may well be on the minds of some at Sundowns, as the Brazilians have their sights firmly set on securing a place in the final of the season-opening competition. Sundowns and Pirates share the spoils Sundowns and Pirates played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium last Saturday. Head coach Miguel Cardoso believes the away goals rule could tilt the tie in their favour when the two giants meet again. 'Oviously scoring one goal away can make a difference but that depends a lot on what's going to happen in the second game. Of course, we know that if we keep Pirates from scoring, then we will go through, but we know that Pirates and Sundowns have the capacity to score goals in the second leg. 'It's quite difficult for the score to remain 0-0. If you think about not conceding, that's when you're going to concede. You need to play the next match to win because if you win, then you go through. 'That's the biggest advantage that we have, knowing that if we win the match at home, then it will be enough. And it's good that we scored, because it's a slight advantage.' Kabelo Sebelebele's late strike cancelled out Teboho Mokoena's first-half opener, setting up what promises to be a tantalising return leg in Tshwane. Cardoso lamented his team's lapse in concentration and their inability to manage the game late on. 'I always say that teams that are in shape think the same things at the same time and interpret what's on the pitch,' the Portuguese added. 'They play on emotion' 'When emotions are not the best, they stop focusing on their best thoughts. They play on emotion and lose the capacity to evaluate, process and give an answer on positioning and passing. That is what allows the team to have control of the match.
