Step inside actor Malavika Mohanan's ‘Kerala inspired Mumbai home', with Athangudi tiles, dark wood interiors and artefacts from her life
Actor Malavika Mohanan invited fans to tour her home in Mumbai in an episode of Gate Crashes by Mashable India, a series where celebrities give their fans a look into their homes and their personal lives. Malavika has transformed the house into a 'memory box' of Kerala, with traditional tiles, furniture and a lot of plants. She began the tour by describing her place as a 'Kerala Oasis in the midst of Mumbai,' and said that she wanted to create something that was inspired by her roots. She talked about loving houses built in the 'Nalikettu' style, and always dreamt of having such a house herself. 'I have seen Nalikettu houses in a lot of Mani Ratnam films, and it used to be a part of a lot of old traditional homes in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and it looks beautiful. I can't make it in an apartment, but otherwise I would have,' she said. She has a lovely eye for interiors, as you can see.' She then began describing the 'hero' elements of her home, starting with her floor, which was inspired by traditional Athangudi tiles, which hail from a village in Tamil Nadu by the same name, and is quite famous for its Chettinad furniture. She calls the tiles the 'statement piece' of the house. She pointed out the dark wood furniture and artefacts and paintings from South India, including a beautiful Tanjore painting. Malavika explained how she loves vintage Tanjore paintings and how one can look for them in places like Madurai, where people are discarding them for the price of peanuts. She showed off her plants and the Mandir that was also inspired by South Indian culture and said, 'The Mandir was the first thing built in the home; they designated the corner for it, and the rest of the house was constructed after its completion.' Malavika then showed her fans her balcony, which was filled with plants and acts as a 'place of solace and peace for her'. She shared that her mother is very fond of out-of-the-box items, and she buys something from wherever she travels, and how their mutual love for animal artefacts has made their house into sort of a jungle. Malavika admitted that her entire family is a 'sucker for traditional things'.

Malavika Mohanan to wrap up ‘Sardar 2' in June
Actress Malavika Mohanan, who plays a key role in the much-anticipated spy thriller Sardar 2, has revealed that she will complete her part in the film by June. The film, directed by P. S. Mithran, features Karthi in the lead, along with Rajisha Vijayan and S. J. Suryah. During a recent fan interaction on X (formerly Twitter), Malavika shared the update when asked about her next Tamil project. 'Just wrapping up Sardar 2 with Karthi sir in June & will be announcing my next in Tamil very soon,' she said, confirming her ongoing commitment to the Tamil industry. In a candid moment, when a fan asked what she is most proud of, the actress replied, 'About how thick-skinned I've become over the years. I can let in the love and keep out the unwanted negativity from affecting me,' adding a smiley. Director Mithran had earlier mentioned that only about 5–10% of the shoot remains and that dubbing is currently underway. The sequel promises to be an intense action-packed entertainer, building on the success of the original. The film's ensemble cast also includes Aashika Rangnath and Sajal Ahmed. Sardar 2 boasts a strong technical crew with George Williams handling cinematography, Sam C S composing music, and Ruben on the editing table. Actress Malavika Mohanan , who plays the lead along with actor Karthi and actress Rajisha Vijayan , in director P S Mithran's eagerly-awaited spy thriller 'Sardar 2' has now disclosed that she will be wrapping up the film in June this year. Malavika , who decided to have a quick chat session with her fans on X on Friday, answered a number of questions posed by her fans. When one of them asked her when she would be acting in a Tamil film again, she replied, "Just wrapping up #Sardar2 with Karthi sir in June & will be announcing my next in Tamil very soon." Malavika Mohanan opens up about debuting in Tollywood To another question on one thing about herself that made her proud, the actress answered with a smiley, "About how thick skinned I've become over the years. I can let in the love and keep out the unwanted negativity from affecting me." Meanwhile, it may be recalled that director Mithran had, in an earlier interview to IANS, said that only five to 10 per cent of the Sardar 2's shooting remained to be completed. Mithran had confirmed then that dubbing work too was progressing simultaneously on the film. "Only another five to 10 per cent of the film is left. Yes, dubbing is also happening simultaneously," he had informed. Sardar 2 will feature, apart from Karthi S J Suryah and Rajisha Vijayan, actors Malavika Mohanan, Aashika Rangnath and Sajal Ahmed among others.
