Mamamoo's Moonbyul to drop solo single

Moonbyul of Mamamoo will be dropping a solo digital single on June 17, announced agency RBW Entertainment on Friday. Dubbed 'Icy Bby,' the single will give fans a taste of her soon-to-be-released album. The news came on the seventh anniversary of her solo career, which began with single album 'Selfish.' More recently, she released 'Starlit of Twinkle: Repackage' in August last year, a reissue of her first solo studio album, 'Starlit of Muse.' The original album topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 10 regions while the repackage topped the chart in seven. Alongside the release of "Starlit of Twinkle: Repackage," Moonbyul hosted her first solo international tour, visiting fans in eight cities in Asia and 12 in North America. In July, she will hold fan concerts in Japan: in Tokyo on July 4 and in Osaka on July 12. glamazon@

Mamamoo's Solar to drop single in China, Moonbyul heads to Japan

Solar of Mamamoo will enter China with her first single in Mandarin, agency RBW Entertainment said Monday. She is planning to drop the digital single 'Floating Free' on June 11, her first non-Korean language endeavor. The news came with a poster of musical notes bridging Seoul and Taipei, zoomed in on maps from smartphones, along with messages saying, 'Solar, I miss you!' In April, Solar surprised fans when her first solo EP 'Face' appeared in American hip-hop musician Playboy Carti's teaser video for the single 'Evil Jordan.' Meanwhile, Moonbyul is set to go live in Japan in July, hosting fan concerts in Tokyo on July 4 and in Osaka on July 12. The live shows are themed after the sea and cinema, a combination for a cool summer break. Moonbyul debuted in the country with the physical single 'Aurora' in February, and the main track 'Hoshiakari' ranked No. 3 on Oricon's Daily Single Ranking.

Mark your calendars — Skechers Sundown Festival 2025 is set to take over Haw Par Villa from Jul 4 to 6. The music and arts festival announced the first wave of acts on Monday (May 19) on Instagram, with artistes like K-pop girl group Mamamoo member Hwasa, K-pop singer Dabin (also known as DPR Live) as well as Thai alt-rock bands Tilly Birds and Slot Machine set to perform. Chinese artistes like hip-hop singer Gali, indie-pop singer Young Captain and indie-pop act JelloRio will also be headlining the event. Other star-studded acts in the lineup include Chinese rapper Skai Isyourgod as well as Singapore artistes Shigga Shay, Whylucas and Inch Chua. Jin of BTS notched the No. 1 spot on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart with 'Close to You,' according to the chart published Tuesday in the US. The single is part of the original soundtrack for the drama 'When The Stars Gossip' and ranked No. 9 on the publication's Digital Song Sales Chart as well. Jimin is enjoying his 27th week on Billboard's Hot 100, with "Who" sitting at No. 31 this week, down six rungs from the previous week. It is the third longest stay on the main singles chart, after BTS' 'Dynamite' and Psy's 'Gangnam Style.' 'Who' is the main track from his second solo album 'Muse,' which ranked No. 115 on the Billboard 200. The album has spent 28 weeks straight on the main albums chart, renewing its record streak for a K-pop solo album. Mamamoo's Moonbyul drops 1st Japan single Moonbyul of Mamamoo put out her first album in Japan as a solo singer, agency RBW said Entertainment Wednesday. She dropped the single 'Aurora,' her first solo effort to be released in the country. It includes the lead track 'Hoshiakari,' for which she co-wrote the lyrics, as well as the Japanese-language version of 'Is This Love?,' which fronted her first LP repackage, 'Starlit of Twinkle.' Before the release of the physical single, she hosted meet-and-greets in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Kanagawa. Separately, the second and final installment of the compilation album celebrating Mamamoo 's 10th debut anniversary was released in January. It consists of four songs – 'Rainy Season,' 'Egotistic,' 'Starry Night' and 'Hip' – each remade by other musicians.
