India Pakistan News LIVE updates: Civil defence exercise postponed in Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh

06:00 (IST) May 29 After concluding their visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Group 4 delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, en route to Sierra Leone, stopped over in Lome, Togo. During the transit, they held discussions on Pakistan-based terrorism and Operation Sindoor at the airport lounge. BJP's Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra told news agency ANI that the delegation underscored India's need for Operation Sindoor and recounted the conversations they had about Pakistan during their visit. "We are telling them why we had to conduct Operation Sindoor and about Pakistan's terrorism. But it is a good experience to know about the people of Africa, their culture, and language. They are good people and this is a really good experience. The conversations we had with their diplomats, heads of states, and ministers regarding Pakistan, they heard us with concentration. They had come prepared on the subject matter. They were curious to know why our relations with Pakistan are deteriorating, they knew that Pakistan is a terrorist country but when we made things clear, they heard us well. Their response was good, that they would raise this issue in the UNSC and the African Union. We felt that they would raise this issue in their National Assembly and bring a resolution."

They were curious to know why our relations with Pakistan are deteriorating: Manan Kumar Mishra

Lome [Togo], May 28 (ANI): After concluding their visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Group 4 delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, en route to Sierra Leone, stopped over in Lome, Togo. During the transit, they held discussions on Pakistan-based terrorism and Operation Sindoor at the airport lounge. BJP's Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra told ANI that the delegation underscored India's need for Operation Sindoor and recounted the conversations they had about Pakistan during their visit. 'We are telling them why we had to conduct Operation Sindoor and about Pakistan's terrorism. We felt that they would raise this issue in their National Assembly and bring a resolution.' During their visit, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia added that the delegation received much support for India's stand on terrorism and said that the African countries assured us of their support in our fight against terrorism. 'The support we received here exceeded our expectations. I think these people were already with India. So, after meeting our delegation, they received a lot of information. They have tremendous curiosity. They received proper answers for the same. All their questions were answered. They had some ideas regarding Pakistan, but after our briefing those ideas became clearer and they felt that Pakistan is really a huge threat for democracies and democratically-elected governments. So, some measures have to be taken to deal with this. Both countries assured us that they would raise this issue on an international level and their level and help India strongly.' Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists, in which 26 people were brutally killed. The Indian armed forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists affiliated with groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Shinde, is touring key African nations to strengthen India's strategic and diplomatic relations and to build global consensus against terrorism. (ANI)

"We expected some action by Pakistan against terrorism but...": Multi party delegation member Manan Mishra on Operation Sindoor

Kinshasa [DR Congo], May 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, who is a part of the multi-party delegation led by Shrikant Shinde, said that India launched Operation Sindoor after Pakistan failed to take action against terrorists on its soil following the Pahalgam terror attack. 'After the Pahalgam incident on 22nd April, India waited for 15 days. We expected some action by Pakistan itself against the terrorists. But you will be surprised to know that instead of taking action against the terrorists, our intelligence reported that the terrorists were again preparing for similar terrorist activities in India. Only then, on 7th May, the terrorist bases were attacked by Indian forces, which killed hundreds of terrorists,' Mishra said. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists, in which 26 people were brutally killed. The multiparty delegation led by Shrikant Shinde comprises Bansuri Swaraj, ET Mohammed Basheer, Atul Garg, Sasmit Patra, Manan Kumar Mishra, SS Ahluwalia and Sujan Chinoy. The all-party delegation met with Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Democratic Republic of Congo. The all-party delegation also met with the President of the Senate of Congo, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde. Additionally, the delegation met the President of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe Lwa Kanyiginyi Nkingi. Earlier in the day, the all-party delegation met with Congolese Ministers and conveyed the objectives of Operation Sindoor and India's strong stance against terrorism. Shinde stated, 'Today, our all-party delegation met the Hon'ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Therese Kayikwamba Wagner. In this meeting, we presented India's efforts and stand in the fight against terrorism. We also conveyed our message of zero tolerance towards terrorism. Earlier, India's former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sujan Chinoy, highlighted the strategic significance of DRC in Africa, underlining the strong bilateral ties shared between the two nations and the role of Indian peacekeepers in the region. Speaking on India's diplomatic engagement with DR Congo, Chinoy said, 'The Democratic Republic of the Congo is Africa's second largest country in terms of size after Algeria. It has 120 million people, so it's a very populous country... It has a big voice in this part of the world.' He further noted the country's importance on the continental and global stage. 'It's an important member of the African Union and it is also one of the countries of Africa that could potentially be a future non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,' he said. The delegation, which includes leaders from multiple political parties, collectively conveyed India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism on the international platform. BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra, a member of the delegation, reinforces this unified message by emphasising the delegation's purpose: to send a strong, clear message globally that India will no longer tolerate terrorism after decades of suffering. His statement underscores the delegation's role as a concrete example of India's coordinated and resolute foreign policy approach that Chinoy highlighted. 'After Pahalgam, we waited for 15 days for Pakistan to take some action against terrorists, but they didn't, and then we targeted their terrorist camps on May 7,' he said. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's Operation Sindoor after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 tourists were brutally killed. The seven multi-party delegations led by one MP each have been visiting various countries to counter Pakistan's misinformation on Operation Sindoor and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): The second group of the all-party delegations led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde on Wednesday emplaned for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of a visit to key partner countries to highlight India's firm stand against terrorism and Pakistan's role in promoting it. The delegation will visit UAE, Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone. This 8-member delegation also includes BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, BJP MP Atul Garg, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, BJP's Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia, IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer and Ambassador Sujan Chinoy. It further added, 'The 2nd group of All Party Delegation headed by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde has left New Delhi. The delegation will be visiting the United Arab Emirates, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone and Liberia to carry India's strong message of zero tolerance against terrorism and apprise about Operation Sindoor.' Speaking to reporters, Shinde expressed his gratitude and said it is a great opportunity for the whole team to put forward India's message. Shinde said, 'I am fortunate to lead a group going to UAE and West Africa... I think it's very important to message the entire world about what India has been facing for many years. A message about what Pakistan is doing in all these years, how Pakistan is supporting terrorism, funding terrorism. This is a great opportunity for the entire team... India and Pakistan gained independence at the same time, but India has been progressing in their economy while Pakistan has been progressing only in terrorism...' Saying that India will give a befitting reply to the false news spread by Pakistan's propaganda machinery, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia said, '... We are going to tell the world the reality of what happened on 22 April and what has been happening even before that because Pakistan is spreading false propaganda all over the world. We will give a correct answer to the false news spread by their propaganda machinery.' Additionally, BJP MP Atul Garg said, 'The delegation will not just speak but also answer all their questions. It will tell them that, like other countries, we too have the right to respond if there is any terrorist attack on our country. We will also tell the world about the statement of their Army chief (Asim Munir) on Hindus...' BJP's Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra stated that the sole aim of the delegation is to tell the world that all terrorists of the world are 'harboured' by Pakistan, and India has been suffering due to Pakistan. Mishra said, 'The sole aim of our delegation is to tell the world that Pakistan is a terrorist State, a terrorist country. All terrorists of the world are harboured by Pakistan. It has been giving shelter to all terrorists of the world. For the past 30 years, India has been suffering due to Pakistan. Pakistan and its terrorists have caused harm to our innocent citizens and properties. Pakistan military supports those terrorists. So, we want to say that after what happened in Pahalgam, we waited for 15 days and gave a message to Pakistan Government to take action and handover terrorists who did this. They did not do anything for 15 days, and only then did we take action.' 'Our action was targetted only on terrorist bases. We did not harm any Pakistani civilians or Pakistani forces' personnel. They then started an attack on our properties and civilians with thousands of drones. We then attacked their airbases, but we didn't harm even one citizen (of Pakistan)...When Pakistan cried and brought a proposal for peace, so we agreed. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has a zero tolerance policy against India has always been a peace-loving nation, we will continue to be peace loving. We do no want to fight anyone but if someone attacks them unnecessarily, we won't let them off. Pakistan is building a narrative that we harmed them deliberately. But the world knows the truth. We will give them a message on Pakistan's history and activities...' he added. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj exhorted that Operation Sindoor is new pledge of justice and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Armed Forces have given a befitting reply in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. Swaraj said, 'The terrorist attack in Pahalgam was done on the honour of India. It was a blow to the soul of India. PM Modi and our armed forces have given a befitting reply to this, through Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor is a new pledge of justice. PM has made it very clear that terror and talks can't go together, blood and water won't flow together, trade and terror will not happen together; whenever India would hold talks, it will be over PoK. With the sense of Nation First, cutting across party lines, this all-party delegation is will present India's position before these nations...' Earlier today, Group 3 of all-party delegation, led by JDU National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha left for their visit to Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, and Singapore. BJP's Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, Hemang Joshi, along with CPI(M)'s John Brittas, former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Mohan Kumar are part of the group. Earlier, in the day while leaving for Japan, with the all-party delegation that will visit five East Asian Countries, CPI-M leader John Brittas said that all countries must come together with India in its rally against terrorism. 'Our delegation is now leaving for Japan. I have always been saying that this is a public diplomatic outreach to send across the message of India that the world has to unite against terrorism, and this is a high time that the countries need to rally with India in its concerns against terrorism,' the CPI-M leader told ANI. In the context of Operation Sindoor and India's continued fight against cross-border terrorism, seven All-Party Delegations are visiting key partner countries, including members of the UN Security Council, this month.
