Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Artists preparing the Marbat for this festival, which boasts a tradition spanning several centuries, have started their tireless efforts. After four months of labourious work, the final form of the Marbat is now approaching completion. The yellow and black Marbats have been crafted for generations. The Marbat symbolises detrimental practices, shortcomings, diseases, and pressing societal issues. In the city, various topics are critiqued through Marbats and Badgyas. The yellow Marbat is prepared at Jaganath Budhwari, while the black Marbat is made at Bardana Market. Currently, inflation has surged, adversely affecting the preparations of the Marbats. The cost of raw materials necessary for Marbat production has risen significantly. Consequently, this year's preparation costs are 30% to 40% higher compared to last year, say sources. The Marbat is made using bamboo, paper, cloth, wheat flour, turmeric, jute, thread, paint, saree, clay, and other materials. Initially, the entire Marbat is assembled with small wooden pieces. Subsequently, clay is used to shape the wooden replica into an idol form. Following this, it is painted, and the Marbat is adorned with an attractive saree. An 18-foot tall yellow Marbat is crafted by the Tarhane Teli community, a process that takes 4 to 5 months. The black Marbat is usually prepared over 1 to 1.5 months.

Nagpur Police Roll Out Security Blueprint for Festive Season, Civic Polls
1 2 Nagpur: The city police, under commissioner Ravinder Singal, have rolled out a comprehensive security blueprint to ensure public safety during the upcoming festive season, beginning with Pola and Ganpati, and continuing through Navratri, New Year, and the winter assembly session in December. The strategy also factors in the politically sensitive civic elections. In the wake of March 17 riot in Central Nagpur, police are focusing on community engagement and intelligence-building. Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy said dialogues with peace committees and community stakeholders have been initiated to maintain communal harmony. Special attention is being paid to Chitar Oli — the city's hub for Ganpati idol-making — and a traffic plan is being drawn up for idol transportation and immersion routes. Surveillance on digital platforms is being intensified to prevent circulation of provocative content. The four-month plan, developed in coordination with the Special Branch and crime branch, is being implemented under CP Singal's supervision. It includes station-level preparations by zonal DCPs and Addl CPs. DCP (Special Branch) Shashikant Satao will play a key role. The plan identifies sensitive areas, outlines festival-specific risks, and prioritises police-public coordination. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Chemor: SUV Sale, Click Here to See Prices Luxury SUV Deals | Search Ads Search Now Undo Officials have been instructed to target repeat offenders and initiate externment proceedings against high-risk individuals. Crowd control for Ganpati and Navratri is a major focus, given the large gatherings at pandals and processions. Coordination with NMC and other civic agencies is underway for traffic and disaster management. With civic elections likely to be hotly contested, the force is bracing for law and order challenges. CP Singal has asked for increased vigilance in vulnerable areas and real-time coordination among all units. The blueprint underscores the police's commitment to maintaining peace during the city's busiest and most sensitive months — from Marbat to New Year — while ensuring the festival spirit and electoral process are unhindered.
