Nagpur Police Roll Out Security Blueprint for Festive Season, Civic Polls

Nagpur: The city police, under commissioner Ravinder Singal, have rolled out a comprehensive security blueprint to ensure public safety during the upcoming festive season, beginning with Pola and Ganpati, and continuing through Navratri, New Year, and the winter assembly session in December.
The strategy also factors in the politically sensitive civic elections.
In the wake of March 17 riot in Central Nagpur, police are focusing on community engagement and intelligence-building. Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy said dialogues with peace committees and community stakeholders have been initiated to maintain communal harmony. Special attention is being paid to Chitar Oli — the city's hub for Ganpati idol-making — and a traffic plan is being drawn up for idol transportation and immersion routes.
Surveillance on digital platforms is being intensified to prevent circulation of provocative content.
The four-month plan, developed in coordination with the Special Branch and crime branch, is being implemented under CP Singal's supervision. It includes station-level preparations by zonal DCPs and Addl CPs. DCP (Special Branch) Shashikant Satao will play a key role.
The plan identifies sensitive areas, outlines festival-specific risks, and prioritises police-public coordination.
