Anti-social elements warned of strict action
Asifabad: SP Patil Kantilal Subhash said that strict action will be taken against anti-social activities in the district. He suggested that the police should work to control crimes. A meeting was held with police officers at the district police office on Friday. Speaking on this occasion, the SP said that the police should be constantly available to the people and give priority to public safety by solving people's problems. He ordered to take steps to control cyber crimes and prohibited drugs. He suggested that policing should be done in a way that reassures the people and strict action should be taken in matters of peace and security. He ordered to take legal action against those who disturb peace and security and those who obstruct police duties. He asked to take strict measures to prevent any undesirable incidents during tomorrow's Bakrid festival. ASP Chittaranjan, Kagaznagar DSP Ramanujam, Special Branch, Task Force Inspector Rana Pratap and others participated in this meeting.

Police sergeant killed in motorcycle crash on NSE near Kuala Kangsar
IPOH, June 7 — A police sergeant was killed while on his way home to Kedah after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at Kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Kuala Kangsar yesterday. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said in the incident at about 7.24 pm, the victim Shamsul Ishak, 58, who was attached to the Special Branch of the Kedah contingent police headquarters sustained injuries to his left rib area. 'Further investigations found that when the victim reached the location of the incident, he was believed to have lost control (of the motorcycle) and veered off, crashing into the metal road divider, causing him to be thrown off. The victim, who was severely injured, was taken by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for further treatment. 'However, he was pronounced dead at around 9.24 pm in the hospital's emergency ward,' he said. He also said the victim was believed to have been on holiday and making his way back home to Alor Setar, Kedah after meeting with his friends across the state. He added that further investigations are still ongoing and the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama

Proscribed outfits barred from hides collection
The Punjab Home Department has imposed a ban on 84 banned outfits from collecting sacrificial animal skins by roaming neighbourhoods across the province including Rawalpindi, using social media, or through their offices and homes. A circular regarding this ban has also been issued. The detailed data and list of all these banned organisations have been shared with the police stations across the Rawalpindi district, Special Branch, Civil Defence, and intelligence agencies. A warning notice has been issued stating that any violation of the ban, including attempts to collect or encourage the collection of skins, will result in cases being registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

IPOH: A police sergeant was killed while on his way home to Kedah after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at Kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Kuala Kangsar yesterday. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said that in the incident, which occurred at about 7.24pm, the victim, Shamsul Ishak, 58, who was attached to the Special Branch of the Kedah contingent police headquarters, sustained injuries to the left side of his ribcage. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle upon reaching the location, before crashing into the metal road divider and being flung from the machine. "He was rushed by ambulance to Taiping Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at around 9.24pm at the hospital's emergency ward," he said. He added that the victim was believed to be on holiday and was returning to his home in Alor Setar after visiting friends across the state. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
