Al Ahly vs Inter Miami predictions, odds, and betting tips
THE 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off with a blockbuster Group A tie between Al Ahly and Inter Miami in the early hours of Sunday morning, UK time. The Hard Rock Stadium in Florida plays host, and we can expect fireworks when the Egyptian giants face off against a Miami side led by Lionel Messi. 🔥 Best Al Ahly vs Inter Miami betting tips Al Ahly vs Inter Miami odds Find the latest football betting odds for Al Ahly vs Inter Miami here. Our odds are provided by our recommended football betting sites and are subject to change. Al Ahly vs Inter Miami predictions The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup promises to be a clash of continents, cultures and footballing styles, and the opening match of the tournament perfectly illustrates this with Al Ahly of Egypt clashing with Inter Miami of the MLS. Al Ahly recently secured a third consecutive - and record 45th in total - Egyptian Premier League title, underlining their dominance domestically. But it was far from a perfect season, with the Red Eagles knocked out of the CAF Champions League at the semi-final stage on away goals to Mamelodi Sundowns. The defeat cost Marcel Koller his job, with the Swiss first replaced by Emad El Nahhas on an interim basis, and latterly José Riveiro. Riveiro was only appointed at the end of May, so it remains to be seen how much influence the Spaniard will have on the team ahead of facing Miami. Inter Miami are also a team in search of the right formula. Domestically, they secured the 2024 MLS Supporters' Shield with a record 74 points. But despite being the strongest looking team in the MLS throughout last season, they couldn't back that up in the MLS Cup - exiting the competition to Atlanta United in the opening round. Gerardo Martino departed the club shortly after for personal reasons. The Argentine was replaced as manager by his compatriot, Javier Mascherano. But it's fair to say things haven't gone totally to plan for the former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder. Inter have picked up 29 points from 16 matches in this season's MLS. They have won eight, drawn five and lost three. With a forward line boasting Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, it's no surprise to see they are one of the highest scorers in the league with 36 goals. The problem has been conceding goals, Inter's defence has been breached 27 times. They have one of the worst defensive records in the Eastern Conference. On a positive note, Inter have found some better form in recent weeks and come into this match on the back of two wins. Al Ahly vs Inter Miami betting tips Al Ahly haven't played competitively since May 28th - if nothing else, they should be fresher of the two teams. On the flip side, Inter Miami are into the thick of their MLS season and should be battle hardened as they switch their attention to the FIFA Club World Cup. Our Al Ahly vs Inter Miami betting tips follow: Both teams to score With this being the opening match of a new competition, there are a lot of unknowns coming into this clash. But some things we do know are that Inter Miami scores lots of goals, and also concedes plenty as well. We've already mentioned Inter's poor defensive record. If any more proof is needed, the statistics show they have conceded in their previous ten matches in all competitions. Goals at both ends of the pitch are very likely. Luis Suárez to score or assist Luis Suárez isn't quite as prolific as his South American teammate Lionel Messi, but the Uruguayan comes into the Club World Cup in good recent form. After two matches without a goal contribution, Suárez has found his form again with three goals and one assist in his previous two matches. Suárez was on target twice, and assisted once, in Inter's 4-2 win over Montreal. He also found the back of the net in his team's 5-1 win over Columbus in their most recent outing. This bet is odds-on with a lot of bookies, but not BetMGM. Lionel Messi to score anytime It's hard to make predictions for an Inter Miami match without mentioning Lionel Messi. Yes, it's an obvious tip, but look at the stats and his recent form. Messi has scored five goals in his last three MLS matches. He takes any set pieces around the box, and he will be extra keen to make his mark in his current adopted home city. ‘Most Successful Ever' Team Al Ahly Gets Set For FIFA Club World Cup
Egypt's Al Ahly has win 45 domestic league titles. Spanish coach José Riveiro is under no illusions. In most roles, winning back-to-back league titles, two domestic honors, a couple of continental crowns, four consecutive Super Cups, and an African-Asian-Pacific trophy represents more than enough credit in the bank—especially within three years. But it's a little different at the Egyptian superteam Al Ahly. A significant portion of Egypt's soccer fan population supports the Red Devils (not to be muddled with Manchester United), which carries an expectation to win, win, and win. It's hard to dispute that 15-time European Cup champion Real Madrid is the most successful club in global soccer. Yet, by the quantity of silverware, Al-Ahly is out in front; its official website exhibits an unparalleled 155 trophies. Marcel Koller has lived it. Despite winning the first mentioned haul of prizes between September 2022 and April 2025, he was out of a job following Al Ahly's exit from Africa's version of the Champions League at the semifinal stage this season just finished. So, his replacement, Riveiro, has an exacting task on his hands, one of which is turning a few heads at the Club World Cup, where Al-Ahly will, on this occasion, be a small fish in a big pond. The Egyptians kick off the expanded tournament against Lionel Messi-fronted Inter Miami this June 14 (in the United States)—a game crucial to FIFA. Having negotiated a reported €877 million ($1 billion)—also its prize money—deal with broadcaster DAZN, the governing body now wants as much revenue as possible from sponsorships and gate receipts. It's relying on lots of eyeballs—especially because DAZN's basic coverage of the aspirational competition is free to view. However, early indications are the show's pull is weaker than FIFA hoped, with ticket prices tumbling and the prospect of thousands of empty seats for the opening fixture. There's little doubt the president, Gianni Infantino, wanted Cristiano Ronaldo's magnetism to push things along, but the Portuguese isn't eyeing an appearance. FIFA is swimming against the tide, and the Inter Miami-Al Ahly spectacle will hint at what's to come. The complexly designed trophy will be given to the best team on July 13, a month or so before next ... More season begins in earnest. All the same, an impressive performance from Al-Ahly would start the competition in style. For some big hitters touching down in the U.S., the Club World Cup is inconvenient after a long season. For a team like Al Ahly, it's a golden ticket to test its might against the very best. Notwithstanding FIFA's €219 million ($250 million) solidarity payout to clubs worldwide, the typically strong European names will pocket more from participating in the show than sides from other confederations. Still, the bonuses will bolster an already strong Al Ahly in Egypt. Indeed, Al-Ahly has a financial leg-up over competitors back home. With social media support rivaling most Premier League big shots, it also operates as a general sports entity—with basketball, handball, and other teams part of the brand—and can draw healthy income from high-end club membership fees. Incidentally, Manchester City star Omar Marmoush began his career at another Egyptian club, Wadi Degla, which also has the ubiquitous sports and leisure model built in. Naturally, Al-Ahly has the pick of quality players. Ex-Aston Villa forward Mahmoud Trézéguet is among the squad for the matches ahead, while Emam Ashour scores an impressive number of goals from midfield. But to say Al-Ahly's dominance is all you need to know about Egyptian soccer goes wide of the mark. The Cairo giant, established as a counter to British colonial rule in 1907, is a rival to Zamalek, with the pair cooking up one of the most ferocious soccer derbies anywhere. And in recent times, Pyramids FC—bought and rebranded as such by Turki Al-Sheikh seven years ago—has shaken up the natural order a little. All told, how Al Ahly fares at the Club World Cup won't have much bearing in North Africa. It will remain the force in a country whose leagues include state or privately-owned sides with virtually no fanbases. Instead, the national scene is arguably the main talking point from here on in. There's criticism that Egypt's football association isn't doing enough for young talents soon to lead the next generation—this from a land that boasts Liverpool idol Mohamed Salah. As for Al Ahly, even going far in the Club World Cup may be up there with some of the many achievements from its gold-plated 118-year history.

Preview: Leaders Ahly look to avoid slip-up against NBE Club, Pyramids seek to stay in title race - Egyptian Football
Defending champions Ahly will look to maintain their winning momentum when they face NBE Club in the seventh round of the Egyptian Premier League Playoff stage at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday. The Red Devils are determined to avoid any slip-ups in the final stretch of their quest for a historic 45th league title, with just two matches remaining in the season. Ahly enter the clash atop the league standings with 52 points, holding a two-point advantage over second-placed Pyramids FC, while NBE Club sit fourth with 37 points and have a game in hand. The titleholders have been in formidable form during the playoff stage, securing four consecutive victories under interim coach Emad El-Nahhas, who took charge following the departure of Swiss tactician Marcel Koller after their CAF Champions League elimination. Before this winning streak, Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by title rivals Pyramids FC, which came on the heels of a controversial 3-0 forfeit loss to archrivals Zamalek in March. The club initially faced a potential points deduction for withdrawing from the Cairo derby over disputes with match officials, but received a significant boost on Thursday when the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) appeals committee upheld the decision not to impose further sanctions. El-Nahhas's side will be without several key players due to injury, including Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiyat Allah, Karim El-Debes, Reda Slim, Rami Rabiaa, and Omar Kamal, with Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali remains a doubt after sustaining an ankle injury in training. However, defenders Achraf Dari and Mohamed Hani could return after their recovery. Meanwhile, NBE Club coach Tarek Mostafa will aim to build on his team's recent resurgence, including a commanding 4-2 victory over Pyramids FC in the fifth round, as they seek to solidify their position in the upper echelons of the table. Pyramids FC face Petrojet in must-win clash Title challengers Pyramids FC will meet Petrojet at Cairo's Petrosport Stadium on the same day, in what is considered a must-win game if they want to stay in the title race. Petrojet, currently eighth with 26 points, are expected to pose a stern challenge despite their mid-table position. Pyramids fc will be boosted by the return of winger Ramadan Sobhi and midfielder Mohanad Lasheen, both of whom missed their narrow 1-0 win over Zamalek in the previous round. Ahly turn the tables - Sports - Al-Ahram Weekly
From being behind by as many as four points, Ahly performed an outstanding turnaround and are now in pole position to win the Egyptian football league. Defending champions Ahly have taken the lead in the Egyptian Premier League with three games left in the 2025 season. After five rounds in the playoffs, Ahly are atop the table with 49 points. Pyramids are second, two points behind. As of writing on 12 May Zamalek are a distant third with 41 points with the same number of remaining games. National Bank are in fourth with 36 points but having played a game less. When Ahly's Swiss coach Marcel Koller was forced out after his club failed to reach the final of the African Champions League, of which they are the defending champions as well, Ahly were in second place, four behind Pyramids with six games left for each. Since then, however, in a stunning reversal, Ahly won their next three games under interim coach Emad Al-Nahhas. During the same period, Pyramids lost two and won once. Ahly's six-point turnaround happened in just over a week starting 30 April. Pyramids' freefall started when they suffered a 3-2 loss against Pharco FC to snap a 16-game unbeaten run in the league and reduce the gap to Ahly at the top of the table to just a single point. The turning point of this season could well have been Pyramids' second loss during this period when Krunoslav Jurčić's men fell 4-2 to National Bank at Cairo International Stadium. At the same time, Ahly edged Petrojet 3-2, then hammered Haras Al-Hodoud 5-0, and defeated Masri 4-2, an offensive average of a remarkable four goals a game The next stop is on Tuesday 13 May after Al-Ahram Weekly goes to print, when Ahly will take on Ceramica who lie in sixth place and 18 points behind Ahly. On the same day, Pyramids clash with Zamalek who have a mathematical chance of winning the league but who will likelier try to salvage what remains of the season by finishing in second place to qualify for next season's African Champions League or third or fourth place in order to get into the African Confederation Cup. Ahly are now in control of their destiny and would take their record 44th league crown if they win their next three games, no matter what their rivals do. * A version of this article appears in print in the 15 May, 2025 edition of Al-Ahram Weekly Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
