British woman dies in rafting accident in French Alps
The tragedy happened shortly after noon on Saturday on the Guisane river in the commune of Briançon, in the southeast of the country, said prosecutor Marion Lozac'hmeur. According to the firefighting service, the woman fell from her raft and was later "found on the riverbank" before she was urgently evacuated to Briançon hospital. Born in 1956 and of British nationality, the victim "was evacuated to hospital in a very serious condition and unfortunately died yesterday evening, Lozac'hmeur added. An autopsy will be conducted, the prosecutor said. It was not clear whether the woman was a tourist or a resident of France.
