Orlando Pirates pre-season tour, opponents revealed!

Orlando Pirates will travel to Spain once again for their pre-season training in the next few weeks. Although the club has yet to confirm its pre-season plans, English League One side Bolton Wanderers announced that it will play the Buccaneers in July. In a statement, the former English Premier League side announced that the pre-season match against Orlando Pirates will take place in Spain. 'The trip will conclude with a friendly fixture against South African giants, Orlando Pirates. 'The match against the Buccaneers will take place on Friday, 11 July, with an 11am local time kick-off at the Marbella Football Centre,' the club said. 'Founded in Soweto in 1937, Orlando Pirates are one of South Africa's oldest and most successful clubs. Known as 'The Buccaneers', they have won nine domestic league titles and are one of the few clubs from the Southern Hemisphere to have won the CAF Champions League, lifting the trophy in 1995. 'The fixture is given extra resonance by the shared history of defender Mark Fish. The South African international became a champion at Orlando Pirates, winning the African Champions League in 1995, before joining Wanderers two years later after a spell with Italian giants, Lazio.' In the past two years, Orlando Pirates have had their pre-season training in Spain under Jose Riveiro. With the Spaniard gone, the Buccaneers will head to the country for the first time without the 49-year-old. The Soweto giants are expected to announce their pre-season plans this week. Fish worries Kaizer Chiefs fans?

Orlando Pirates are the favourites to beat Kaizer Chiefs in today's Nedbank Cup final. Mark Fish has explained this rather well. 'It's a cup final, so obviously it's a big game for both teams,' Fish told Showmax Premier League . 'However, if you look at the progress of the two teams, this game is massive for Chiefs, while for Pirates it's just another game. 'Pirates have shown consistency and composure under pressure. They've been here before and they've delivered. Chiefs, on the other hand, are under serious pressure to lift a trophy. Obviously the new coach has been there for a season, but him and the players will understand that this is a very big game for them. It's a massive occasion. 'It's not difficult to predict a winner in my opinion. Pirates are the favourites and I expect them to get the job done and handle the expectations of a cup final,' Fish added. Kick off will be at 15:30 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. 'It's not difficult to predict Nedbank Cup winner'

Orlando Pirates legend Mark Fish is backing his former club to beat Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday afternoon. The two Soweto giants clash for the third time this season this weekend at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Fish, who has played for the Buccaneers between 1993 and 1996, feels the pressure is on Chiefs to deliver having gone a decade without silverware. 'It's a cup final, so obviously it's a big game for both teams,' Fish told Showmax Premier League . 'However, if you look at the progress of the two teams, this game is massive for Chiefs, while for Pirates it's just another game.' 'Obviously the new coach has been there for (only) a season, but him and the players will understand that this is a very big game for them. It's a massive occasion,' Fish added. Orlando Pirates have won five of their last five finals and it's easy to see why Mark Fish has backed them to beat Chiefs in the final. 'It's not difficult to predict a winner in my opinion. Pirates are the favourites and I expect them to get the job done and handle the expectations of a cup final,' Fish said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Ex-Pirates defender Mark Fish confidently predicts victory for his former side

Former Orlando Pirates defender and captain Mark Fish says there will be more pressure on Kaizer Chiefs during the Soweto derby Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. The two teams meet having experienced contrasting fortunes on the domestic scene over the past few months, with the Buccaneers enjoying the upper hand over Amakhosi, who have blown hot and cold. Though they have only an outside chance, Pirates are still in the running for the Betway Premiership title against Mamelodi Sundowns, while Chiefs are struggling to qualify for a top eight spot. They meet for the second time in successive weekends in Durban and Pirates are overwhelming favourites to do a quick double over Chiefs. 'It's a cup final and a big game for the two teams. If you look at the progress of the teams, the game is massive for Chiefs while for Pirates it's just another game,' Fish told Showmax, adding he has been impressed by his former team, who made it to the semifinal of the Champions League. Fish said Chiefs will be under pressure because they have failed to deliver silverware to the club in 10 years.
