NCIS legend Mark Harmon stars in his first role away from CBS hit after Gibbs exit

Mark Harmon has been keeping busy since his departure from NCIS in 2021 and has now landed a role in a project completely separate from the popular police procedural. Mark Harmon, best known for his role as Agent Gibbs in NCIS, has been busy with a project entirely separate from the renowned police drama. ‌ CBS fans were left heartbroken when Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Mark Harmon, bid farewell to NCIS in 2021. ‌ Yet, it was a touching goodbye as Gibbs left his turbulent past behind to embrace a fresh start amidst Alaska's tranquil beauty. ‌ Despite his exit, Harmon remains connected to the NCIS world through his contributions to the prequel, NCIS Origins, where he lends his voice and makes an appearance in the inaugural episode. Alongside his work on the latest NCIS offshoot, the 73-year-old actor has been occupied reprising his role in another popular franchise. ‌ The family comedy Freaky Friday, which premiered alongside NCIS in 2003, featured Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as a mother and daughter who unexpectedly swap bodies. Harmon took on the role of Ryan, the soon-to-be spouse of Curtis' character Tess Coleman, much to the dismay of Lohan's character, teenager Anna Coleman. Now, Curtis, Lohan, and Harmon are all gearing up to reunite for the sequel, Freakier Friday, with Harmon returning as Ryan, now Anna's stepfather. ‌ In this sequel, Anna is now a mother herself with a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they try to navigate their evolving family dynamics, all three, along with Tess, find themselves in yet another body-swapping predicament. In an intimate chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon opened up about his reunion with Curtis, saying: "It's comfortable with Jamie and always has been. I've known her since she was 15 or 16. ‌ "Obviously, it's a different story now, and yet I enjoy time with her. "When you look at the long form of life, you're talking about moments with people and sharing them and being with people you liked being with. "That's always been true about her for me, so I was pleased to do that."

Team Behind ‘NCIS' in Crisis Mode Amid Low Viewership, Hoping to Tap Mark Harmon to Return

Mark Harmon is being lined up for a full-blown return to NCIS to save its dwindling ratings. The National Examiner can reveal the vet is willing to do whatever it takes to save the beloved franchise that's defined his career. Sources point out that the original series has fallen to No. 10 on the top TV show list, and now bosses are in crisis mode. Mark believes he can keep the military action drama that he's poured his heart into from going down the drain, says an insider. The show — which he also executive produces — 'has sunk in the ratings for the first time, and people are nervous and seeing that as a bad omen of things to come,' the insider says. 'Mark coming back — even on a recurring basis — would save the show.' However, there are some cast members who aren't exactly keen on Mark returning, says the insider. 'People are complaining he'll be throwing his weight around and telling them what to do. He does enough of that already as exec producer.' But those backstage gripes don't seem to faze the Freakier Friday star. 'Mark doesn't really care who he pisses off, because if the ratings are bad, then he has every right to come back to save it,' says the insider. 'He worries it'll go down the drain otherwise. Mark will be making his presence more known than it already is.' Mark, 73, played Special Agent in Charge Leroy Jethro Gibbs of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service for 18 seasons until leaving NCIS as a regular character in season 19. Besides having his executive-producer duties on NCIS, Mark also serves as an executive producer and the narrator on the spinoff NCIS: Origins, which revolves around the younger Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell. 'Mark already had one cameo on NCIS: Origins, and it's been teased that he may appear on that show again,' the insider says. 'Now he's ready to come out of semi-retirement to raise the original NCIS from the dumpster. If anyone can do it, it's Mark.' Solve the daily Crossword

I Rewatched Freaky Friday For The First Time As An Adult, And I Need To Talk About The Real MVP Of This Movie

Long before a Disney+ subscription existed, I'd watch the movie on TV over and over; however, I hadn't seen the 2003 classic in a very long time. So, with Freakier Friday set to premiere soon on the 2025 movie schedule, I decided to revisit the OG Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis film for the first time as an adult, and I need to talk about the unsung hero and unexpected MVP of it. It's Mark Harmon's Character! So, as I stated, I watched Freaky Friday a lot as a kid, and it came out when I was 4 years old. I've always loved Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' shenanigans as Anna and Tess, I wanted to be as cool as Anna, and obviously, I had a crush on Chad Michael Murray's Jake. I also can't deny how empowering and loving Anna and Tess's story is as they switch places and literally walk a mile in each other's shoes. However, rewatching it for the first time as an adult ahead of Freakier Friday's release, I realized I never really truly appreciated Mark Harmon's character Ryan. Tess's fiancé-turned-husband is such a sweet, caring and considerate character, and as we're about to discuss, he's the MVP of this film. Ryan Got His Partner A Great Career Opportunity From the jump, it's pretty clear that Ryan is a great partner for Tess. He cares about her family, and he's accepting of their circumstances. However, it becomes abundantly clear that he goes above and beyond for this family when he gets Jamie Lee Curtis' character on a talk show to promote her book. Things don't go great during that moment, because Anna is Tess. However, it's the gesture that counts! And what Ryan did was really sweet, thoughtful and genuinely impactful. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planAlong with movies from Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, you can also get Disney classics like Freaky Friday with this subscription. Plans start at $9.99 per month. View Deal Ryan Let Anna Go To The Concert And Then Asked Tess To Go Watch Her My guy Ryan also understands and respects his soon-to-be-stepdaughter's passions, and he's very supportive of them. At the rehearsal dinner, when Anna's friends come to get her for their performance, he encourages her to go. It's the sweetest thing ever, and I was even more ready for the wedding bells to ring for him and Tess when he said this to his partner (who was actually his stepdaughter): I fell in love with you. I knew you came with a history and a family, and I respect the hell out of that. You've always put the kids first, that's exactly how it should be. That's how I want it. I never pushed Anna, because I want her to like me on her own terms in her own way. That kind of speech is such a green flag, and then we got another when he prompted Tess to go watch Anna perform, which ultimately helped them switch back. He didn't even know they were swapped at the time; he's just that supportive and caring. Ryan Stuck Through ALL That Switch Nonsense, And He Did So With Grace And Love In the end, the reason why Mark Harmon's character is the MVP of this movie comes down to how well he handles this body-swapping comedy. Think about it, while Tess and Anna's situation is hilarious, if you were actually there and experiencing it, it would be incredibly weird and hard to handle. If I were him, I would have freaked out. However, Ryan rode the chaotic waves immaculately, and his love for Tess never ever wavered. He really handled it all with grace and love and more than proved himself as a worthy addition to the family. So, to quote Anna's friend, 'Mr. Dude, you rock!' Now, I can't wait to see Mark Harmon's Ryan back in Freakier Friday and reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis' Tess. I want to see how marriage has been for them, and I desperately hope we get to see him handle another wild body-swap among his family with the same poise and supportive attitude again, because he really is an MVP.
