Orlando or Gainesville? Decision on where the Jaguars will play in 2027 won't come until October
The decision on where the Jacksonville Jaguars will play for the 2027 season will now be made in October, the team said. The team will play in either Orlando or Gainesville for one season while construction on the Stadium of the Future is finished up at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars released a statement to Action News Jax on Thursday saying the proposals are 'still under review.' Advertisement Orange County Commissioners voted Tuesday, April 22, to give $11 million to bring Jaguars' home games in Orlando in 2027. Jaguars President Mark Lamping appeared on the Brent & Austen Show on the Action Sports Jax 24/7 network on the day of the NFL Draft, Thursday, April 24. Lamping said that it's important to the team to have a partnership with whoever owns the stadium where the Jags will play that season. He said that partnership already exists with the University of Florida. He said that Orlando leaders making the decision to commit the funding was the last step in being able to consider Orlando's proposal fully, removing any contingencies. Advertisement [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter] Lamping said with that piece in place from Orlando, the team was 'in a position to be able to submit our final analysis to the National Football League' of which city the team should play in. He said then that if the team couldn't make it in time for the May NFL owners' meetings, then it would be ready for the October meetings. Having the decision made at the October meeting, Lamping said, 'would be a little serendipity. It was at that same meeting a year ago that the NFL owners approved the stadium.' Once this review is completed, the recommendation will be considered by the appropriate NFL ownership committees, and if approved, brought forward to a vote of all NFL owners. 'It is our expectation that the matter will be considered at the NFL Owners' Meeting in October. The vote requires 75 percent NFL ownership approval to pass.' NFL expands Jaguars' ability to wear throwbacks or alternate uniforms in 2025
NFL expands Jaguars' ability to wear throwbacks or alternate uniforms in 2025 Will we see more of the Jacksonville Jaguars' throwback or alternate uniforms during the 2025 season? Will we see more of the Jacksonville Jaguars' throwback uniforms during the 2025 season? It was announced on Monday that the NFL expanded the number of times that teams can wear throwbacks or alternate uniforms from three to four times in a single season. During the 2024 season, in celebration of their 30th NFL season, the Jaguars wore their "Prowler Throwbacks" from the team's first NFL season back in 1995. The Jaguars would wear the throwbacks in their Week 5 matchup with Indianapolis and then did so again in Week 15 against the New York Jets. The throwback combo features a black helmet with the Jaguars' original logo, teal jerseys with a running Jaguar, and white pants. "Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it's apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars' players in throwback uniforms," Jaguars President Mark Lamping said in a statement last summer. "That persistence paid off and our uniforms reminiscent of the team's early years are back by popular demand – just in time for the 30th season." In addition to wearing the throwbacks, the Jaguars also unveiled an alternate "shell white" helmet that they paired with black jerseys. Now with teams able to wear throwback or alternate uniforms up to four times, the Jaguars could roll out one of these uniforms an additional time in 2025 if they choose.

Jaguars president Mark Lamping is now under contract through the 2030 season
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars president Mark Lamping has signed an extension that puts him under contract through the 2030 season. Owner Shad Khan announced the move Tuesday, essentially guaranteeing Lamping will run the business side of the franchise beyond the completion of Jacksonville's $1.4 billion stadium renovation. Lamping played a key role in getting the overhaul approved. It's the third major stadium build of Lamping's career. He was front and center in the development of Busch Stadium in St. Louis and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. He's been with the Jaguars since Khan bought the franchise in 2012. 'As we look ahead at what will be crucially important years for the Jaguars off the field, especially given all that involves the Stadium of the Future project, the leadership of Mark Lamping is needed more than ever,' Khan said in a statement. NFL owners unanimously approved Jacksonville's 'stadium of the future' in October, a decision that should keep the Jaguars in one of the league's smallest markets for at least another 30 years. It is expected to be completed in time for the 2028 season. Pre-construction work began this month. The Jaguars expect to play in front of a slightly reduced capacity in 2025, a significantly reduced capacity (no upper deck) in 2026 and then host home games in Orlando the following year. They also could play up to three home games overseas in 2027, in London or possibly Ireland. The proposed 63,000-seat, open-air stadium in Jacksonville includes a translucent covering that's the equivalent of 'wearing shades in the sun,' Lamping has said. It's expected to lower outside temperatures by 15 degrees. ___

Jaguars announce extension for Team President
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Tuesday that President Mark Lamping received an extension through the 2030 NFL season. Lamping has been the Jaguars' President since 2012 and part of his job description includes leading the team's business operations. Owner Shad Khan had this to say about the extension: "As we look ahead at what will be crucially important years for the Jaguars off the field, especially given all that involves the Stadium of the Future project, the leadership of Mark Lamping is needed more than ever," Khan said. "I'm very happy and proud to say that Mark will continue to serve as our team president, and I thank Mark for his commitment to making the Jacksonville Jaguars a model business organization throughout the NFL and in all of sports." The Jaguars have already undergone a number of changes this offseason. They, of course, moved on from head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke. The team then hired Liam Coen to be the next head coach, and he has since filled out his coaching staff. Khan would also name Tony Boselli the team's Executive Vice President of Football Operations. At this time, the Jaguars are still conducting their search for their next general manager. As of now, there are six candidates interviewing for the role.
