Free shuttle service to Holyoke St. Patrick's weekend activities

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – To help visitors get in and out of Holyoke quickly and safely during the St. Patrick's weekend celebrations, the city of Holyoke and the Tourism Advisory Committee partnered with MGM Springfield to offer a free shuttle bus service to and from Holyoke. Visitors can park for free at the MGM casino parking garage in Springfield and catch a shuttle at MGM Way with drop-off at the Holyoke City Hall. Marshal Mania kickoff party raises funds for 72nd Holyoke Saint Patrick's Parade On March 22 and 23, the buses will run on a loop every thirty minutes from MGM and Holyoke City Hall. 11:00 a.m.: First shuttle leaves MGM Casino for Holyoke City Hall 4:30 p.m. (4:45 p.m. on Sunday): Last shuttle leaves City Hall for MGM Casino Funding for the shuttle was made possible from the Mass Gaming Mitigation Grant, the OPED team and Tourism Advisory Committee. 'We're excited to offer this service once again,' said Aaron Vega, Director of Planning and Economic Development. 'It's a great partnership with MGM, and of course the amazing Parade Committee, to ensure the weekend is filled with celebration and is safe for all involved.' Two-alarm structure fire on School Street in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Fire crews are working to put out a two-alarm fire on School Street in Greenfield Sunday morning. Marshal Mania kickoff party raises funds for 72nd Holyoke Saint Patrick's Parade 22News received reports of the fire just before 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, as well as details regarding requests for mutual aid. All occupants have been reportedly evacuated from the building on 72 School Street, but their conditions are unknown. The Orange Fire Department was one of the crews responsible for providing mutual aid, and they reported that a combined crew of full-time and on-call personnel has been at the location of the fire for the last few hours as of approximately 10:00 a.m. Orange Fire also reported that a cat had been rescued from the fire. 22News has reached out to the Greenfield Fire Department and is currently waiting to hear back. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Greater Holyoke YMCA celebrated their volunteers Saturday evening during the annual 'Sneaker Peek' event. Marshal Mania kickoff party raises funds for 72nd Holyoke Saint Patrick's Parade These volunteers had the spotlight shined on them for their efforts, and the positive impact they've had on the community through the YMCA's programs and services. Two volunteers were honored this evening for their contributions to the organization and the community. Molly LePage was the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Service Award and Arthur Bergeron received the 2025 Oldershaw Community Service Award. 'For 139 years, we were founded on volunteers,' said Conor Bevan, CEO of the Greater Holyoke YMCA. 'They are our lifeline. Without volunteers, we can't exist, so it's our way to simply say thank you. We can't say thank you enough to our volunteers.' The Greater Holyoke YMCA currently serves approximately 5,000 people within the community. Marshal Mania kickoff party raises funds for 72nd Holyoke Saint Patrick's parade

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Saint Patrick's parade is just a few weeks away. But the Irish Spirit was felt, during the annual Marshal Mania kickoff party. It was a sea of green as hundreds came together to celebrate Irish culture and show their support for the 72nd Holyoke Saint Patrick's parade, during the kickoff party. 'We're very, very proud community and we support each other and we love our Irish heritage. We really do,' Catie Scruggs of East Longmeadow. Live music, food, and raffle baskets were all part of the sold-out event's fifth year at the Log Cabin. The money raised goes towards all the expenses for the parade. 'Every band you see, high school bands, transportation and stuff like that. We have to pay for everything. Everything costs money that goes down that road,' said , co-chair of Marshal Mania, Jeffrey Walsh. And organizers say their grateful for those who give back to kep this parade going, 'we might not know everybody's name, but they're family and we can't thank them enough for their support,' said Co-chair of Marshal Mania, Johnny Dricol. The parade has become a beloved tradition for many. The Holyoke grand colleen and her court are excited to be part of it. 'I can speak for everybody when we say we're very excited. We can't wait for the whole weekend of all the festivities and all of that leading up until the big parade day,' said Holyoke grand colleen, Moira Reardon. The grand marshal, James Lavelle also estatic to be leading the parade this year. 'I'm looking forward to walking with my family. My dad was grand marshal in 1998, so we'll be following in his footsteps. So I'm really happy about that,' expressed Lavelle. There's only a few more weeks until the parade officially begins, '21 days and lots of events to come and we're ready for the parade,' said Driscoll.
