Guy Sebastian hobbles out of court on crutches during trial with former manager Titus Day after being rushed to hospital for shock injury
Guy Sebastian hobbled out of Sydney 's Downing Centre District Court on a set of crutches on Tuesday, just weeks after suffering a serious leg injur y. In May, Sebastian landed in hospital after tearing his Achilles tendon during a footy match with AFL great Brendan Fevola. The 43-year-old hitmaker, who is expected to take the stand this week during the embezzlement trial of his former manager Titus Day, sat in court wearing one shoe and a bandage on his injured foot. Dressed smartly in a sharp blue blazer and black trousers, Sebastian left the Downing Centre on his own. The singer's polished look - complete with a leather satchel slung across his shoulder - contrasted sharply with the visible strain of each step on the crutches. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In May, Sebastian painfully tore his Achilles tendon during an ill-fated footy match. Sebastian and Fevola teamed up to help struggling club Masala Dandenong break a long losing streak in front of a buzzing crowd at Lois Twohig Reserve. What began as a quirky radio promotion turned into a gritty on-field performance, as Fevola and Sebastian led Masala to a tense 55–53 win over South Melbourne Districts. However, Sebastian's afternoon was cut short by injury with the pop star seen limping from the park in the fourth quarter. Sebastian is set to take the stand this week in the trial of his former manager Titus Day who is defending a raft of embezzlement allegations. Day is currently standing trial in the NSW District Court to defend against claims he embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties and performance fees from Sebastian. He has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of embezzlement as a clerk or servant and one count of attempting to dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception. The trial commenced on Thursday and Sebastian is expected to take to the stand in 'the coming days', The Australian reported on Friday. The 43-year-old hitmaker, who is expected to take the stand this week during the embezzlement trial of his former manager Titus Day, sat in court wearing one shoe and a bandage on his injured foot Sebastian was first managed by Day when he worked as a senior client management executive for the 22 Management Agency, the jury was told on Thursday. In 2009, Day established his own agency 6Degrees, where Sebastian became the 'marquee client'. It was alleged the pair's relationship began to sour after Sebastian discovered what he alleged to be irregularities in financial records. It was also claimed that Day, who worked on a 20 per cent commission of Sebastian's income after costs, failed to pay royalties and performance fees collected on the Australian Idol winner's behalf. The publication reported that one of the charges related to a claim that Day failed to pay Sebastian $187,000 - a performance fee for his support act slot on Taylor Swift's 2013 Australian tour. During the first day of Day's trial on Thursday, Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC informed the court that Sebastian had placed a 'significant trust' in his manager, who then 'abused' that trust by embezzling his money. Aside from Sebastian, Day has also managed a raft of high-profile clients including Grant Denyer, Sophie Monk, Tina Arena, and Stephanie Rice.

Guy Sebastian rushed to hospital and awaiting surgery after serious injury: ‘He's not well'
Australian music icon Guy Sebastian has landed in hospital after injuring himself during a footy match with AFL great Brendan Fevola. Fevola and Sebastian teamed up on Saturday to help struggling club Masala Dandenong break a long losing streak in front of a buzzing crowd at Lois Twohig Reserve. What began as a quirky radio promotion turned into a gritty on-field performance, as Fevola and Sebastian led Masala to a tense 55–53 win over South Melbourne Districts. The appearance came just one week after the team's demoralising 229-point thrashing at the hands of St Bede's Mentone. Despite being 44 and long retired from the AFL, it was vintage Fevola on the day, booting six goals to steer his adopted side to victory. However, Sebastian's afternoon was cut short by injury with the pop star seen limping from the park in the fourth quarter. Sebastian took to social media after the match, writing: 'Thought I'd strap on the boots after a LONG hiatus and performed for the locals. 'Great day out for Masala Dandenong getting their first win with @brendanfevola25 kicking a bag! 'Unfortunately I've done a proper number on myself. #realitycheck #sticktosinging #footyglorydaysareover.' Fevola provided more details on Sebastian's injury on Sunday. 'I spoke to him this morning, he's not well,' Fevola said on Channel 7's Sunday Footy Feast. 'He had a mate's 40th back in Sydney so when we decided to do this to help out a footy club ... they're horrible. That was the whole point. 'There were a couple of other teams to play (on Saturday) but Guy Sebastian just released his new single, Maybe, so I said "mate, do you think you can come out and sing at half-time and he said 'mate, I'd love to'"' Sebastian, who hadn't planned on playing in the second half, decided to push himself and ended up paying the price. Sebastian tore his Achilles and will be getting surgery on Monday 'Guy actually played the first quarter, sung at half-time, sung virtually a whole concert and then he was so into it, he was actually having a crack,' Fevola explained. 'He goes "I'll play the second half". Fourth quarter, I saw him fall down and I couldn't stop laughing because he just fell. I was like "mate, singers shouldn't play footy, footy players shouldn't sing, keep to your genre". 'And he looked around and he goes "I think something popped". I said that's not good, because I've done both Achilles. 'He's ruptured his Achilles. He's getting surgery on Monday and is in hospital. So he missed his mate's 40th but hey we got good headlines, which is great (laughs).' Their participation wasn't without controversy. Before the match, VAFA launched an investigation into concerns raised by rival clubs over whether the high-profile pair were being paid - which is prohibited in the amateur league. The league confirmed both Fevola and Sebastian were cleared to play after assurances they would receive no payment or benefits. A Fox FM producer said both men were happy to sign a legal document confirming their amateur status. 'This is a promotional exercise for Fev (for the radio show) and Guy (for his music), not a money-making exercise,' the statement read.

Brendan Fevola, Guy Sebastian spark absurd 229-point turnaround
AFL great Brendan Fevola dug deep into his bag of tricks after pulling on the boots for one of the most struggling clubs in Victoria. Fevola teamed up with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian to make a one-off appearance for VAFA Division 5 Thirds team the Masala Dandenong Football Club. The cellar-dwellers were coming off a 229-point thumping the week prior, but with the 623-goal kicking star in their line-up it was a different story. Fevola was at his best in front of the big sticks as he kicked six goals to help guide Masal to the 7.13 (55) to 8.5 (53) victory over South Melbourne. The 44-year-old was simply unstoppable anytime the ball entered the forward 50 arc as he plucked several one-handed marks. The former Carlton and Brisbane star was rightfully given a hero's reception by the bustling crowd as he walked off the field. 'We hoped to do better than last week — score more than seven points and not to lose by as much as 229 points,' he said. Sebastian lined up alongside Fevola to kick start the contest before drifting into the midfield where he showed off his silky skills. After a halftime performance for the monster crowd, Sebastian's day ended on a sour note when he limped from the field in the fourth quarter. The 43-year-old received treatment before having his leg wrapped up and leaving the ground on crutches. The pair's participation came as part of a promotion run by Fox FM's Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show that offers his services to battling local clubs. While Masala and fans were overjoyed that Fevola would be pulling on the boots for the club, the news did not go down well with several VAFA clubs, who questioned his eligibility as the amateur competition strictly prohibits any payments to players, and an investigation by VAFA was launched. The investigation ultimately found that Fevola and Sebastian will not be paid and therefore their appearance could go ahead, with both stars reportedly willing to sign a legal document confirming the league's findings. A Fox FM producer said Fevola and Sebastian's involvement was purely 'a promotional exercise'. With two stars pulling on the boots, fans from far and wide flocked through the gates to catch a glimpse of them in action. A crowd of more than 2500 watched as the game unfolded with the club struggling to keep up with the demand. 'I have never seen anything like it,' club president William Bolch said to the Herald Sun. 'We ran out of bacon and eggs, we ran out of milk, we had to make multiple trips down to the shops to restock the canteen. 'I think today has given the club a massive spike' Unfortunately there was no post-game celebrations for Fevola who quickly hit the road to play his regular game with the East Sunbury Football Club.

Brendan Fevola leads struggling footy side to victory, but it was bad news for singer Guy Sebastian
Brendan Fevola made a surprise return to the footy field on Saturday morning, helping struggling local club Masala Dandenong break a long losing streak in front of a buzzing crowd at Lois Twohig Reserve. The former AFL superstar lined up for the club's reserves side in the Division 5 Thirds of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), alongside pop icon and Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian. Fevola's involvement came via a Fox FM competition, where he offered to play for a grassroots club in need. Masala Dandenong, last on the ladder and desperate for a spark, jumped at the opportunity. Despite being 44 and long retired from the AFL, it was vintage Fevola on the day, booting six goals to steer his adopted side to victory. 'Fev doing what he does best, winning the games,' one fan posted. 'That's amazing! Well done guys and especially Brendan Fevola and Guy Sebastian,' added another. The club had earlier teased the surprise additions on social media, promising fans a unique matchday experience, including Sebastian performing at halftime. But the crowd got more than they bargained for when Sebastian strapped on the boots and joined the starting line-up. While Fevola helped control the game with his trademark goal sense, it was a mixed day for Sebastian, who was later seen on crutches following the match. It's unclear how serious the injury is. Their participation wasn't without controversy. Before the match, VAFA launched an investigation into concerns raised by rival clubs over whether the high-profile pair were being paid - which is prohibited in the amateur league. The league confirmed both Fevola and Sebastian were cleared to play after assurances they would receive no payment or benefits. Sebastian's day was over early, though, limping from the field with an apparent leg injury Sebastian celebrates the team song in the sheds on crutches with strapping around his left calf A Fox FM producer said both men were happy to sign a legal document confirming their amateur status. 'This is a promotional exercise for Fev (for the radio show) and Guy (for his music), not a money-making exercise,' the statement read. Despite the off-field scrutiny, Fevola's on-field focus was unwavering. 'I'm pumped to be playing for Masala Dandenong on the weekend!' he said earlier in the week.

Why AFL legend Brendan Fevola and Guy Sebastian have been investigated for trying to play a game of footy
AFL legend Brendan Fevola has agreed to make a shock return to footy - for one match - alongside Aussie music star Guy Sebastian. But the appearance of the high-profile duo this weekend for Victorian park team Masala Dandenong in the Division 5 Thirds competition was first subject to an investigation by Australia's biggest amateur football competition. After being cleared to play, Carlton great Fevola and inaugural Australian Idol winner Sebastian will turn out for the Tigers, who were beaten last start by 229 points by St Bedes Mentone. It follows a recent promotion on Fox FM, where Fevola is a breakfast host in Melbourne alongside Fifi Box and Nick Cody. The radio station offered Fevola's services on the field to battling local footy clubs - and Masala Dandenong jumped at the opportunity. Earlier this week, Masala posted on Instagram about their latest 'recruits', with Sebastian to also perform at halftime. But the announcement soon had a twist after several rival Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) clubs queried the development given the amateur competition prohibits player payments. A subsequent investigation revealed Fevola and Sebastian will not be paid - and both stars are reportedly willing to sign a legal document confirming the league's findings. A Fox FM producer said Fevola and Sebastian's involvement was purely 'a promotional exercise.' 'I can confirm that both Guy Sebastian and Brendan Fevola will not receive any payment or benefits from bar sales, or revenue relating to raffles, or auctions or similar that may or may not take place from any fundraising initiative by either Fox FM or Masala on the day or in the lead-up or post-match,' a statement read. 'This is a promotional exercise for Fev (for the radio show) and Guy (for his music), not a money-making exercise.' Fevola made his AFL debut in 1999 with the Blues and quickly earnt a reputation as a prolific goalkicker. His career was often overshadowed by frequent off-field incidents, but he remains a fan favourite after making the move into breakfast radio in 2016. Last month, Fevola's stomach-churning habit of keeping his dentures in his car was exposed by his daughter Lulu in a hilarious video on social media. The clip begins with the 15-year-old telling her father she's making a 'family TikTok' video at dinner as he relaxes in an armchair, sipping a glass of wine. Fevola responds, 'I don't have my tooth, mate,' and says it's 'in the car', after which Lulu goes out to his Mercedes SUV and retrieves his denture from the centre console. 'So annoying, happens every time,' Lulu says, before wrapping her hand in toilet paper to pick it up and branding the habit 'just disgusting'. When she gives the toilet paper-wrapped tooth back to her dad, he says, 'Thanks, hon,' before throwing the paper back at her - with the video ending just as Lulu starts to yell in shock.
