What can Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton spend this summer?

Bournemouth have the lowest matchday revenue in the Premier League, with a 11,379 capacity at the Vitality they have recruited shrewdly and the big-money sales of Dominic Solanke and Dean Huijsen during 2024-25 means they could easily part with £100m to bring in new are among the best run businesses in the league and their approach of "spotting players that other clubs have not considered, such as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, is likely to pay further dividends as they are attracting attention from clubs with big budgets", said football finance expert Kieran Maguire."The Bees have no PSR concerns and could spend up to £200m, but are unlikely to break the bank for the sake of it as this is not the way that owner Matthew Benham conducts affairs at the club."Meanwhile, another club on the south coast, Brighton, are also in rude health heading into the next transfer Seagulls have earned £200m in profit over the previous two seasons and could repeat last summer's heavy spend of more than £200m if chief executive Paul Barber has already indicated they will more likely return to their tried and tested model of bringing in relatively unheard of players from unfamiliar biggest challenge is more likely to be keeping hold of the likes of Joao Pedro, Carlos Baleba and Kaoru Mitoma, who are all attracting admiring glances from clubs with bigger more about the early transfer window and what each Premier League club can spend this summer

'I don't think we will ever have many' - what next for multi-club model?

Academy director Stephen Torpey joined Brentford in January 2023 to lead what he feels is a "clean slate" having worked with the likes of Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden at Manchester City, while also working with Rodolfo Borrell, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones at Liverpool. Torpey is taking charge of the revamping of Brentford's academy after they decided to reintroduce the youth system. Speaking at the launch of Brentford's news academy building, Torpey explained: "I was so fortunate to be around great people at City and Liverpool - a lot of people I worked with have gone onto great things - a lot of players I've worked with have gone onto play for their teams, but I'm proud of those who didn't succeed, became coaches or play at a lower level." Brentford's growth off the field extends to owner Matthew Benham's restructure of the club into a new holding company - Best Intentions Analytics, which bought Spanish third division club Merida. Director of football Phil Giles further explained the strategy behind the expansion: "Merida will be run for its own success, first in Spain but it is also close to Portugal, so it is one of the markets many clubs look at. It was an opportunity as the previous owner Mark Heffernan was looking to sell, did good work and knew Matthew Benham already and it was sensible numbers. "There will be a conversation about a link but that's very early in the process. We will look at how Brentford can help Merida grow and win, and help players develop for Brentford. It is easy to say it but hard to do it in practice so both are successful. "I don't think we will ever have many clubs [in the multi-club model]. At this stage, we are not looking for another club but it doesn't mean we are not open in the future. We just want to do this really well and we are trying embed the relationships on the ground, settle it down and that will take time." Owners of Premier League club Brentford buy Spanish third-tier team Mérida

LONDON — The owner of Premier League club Brentford has completed the acquisition of Spanish third-tier team Mérida. Brentford said Tuesday its holding company, Best Intentions Analytics, has bought all the shares of Merida, which was only founded 12 years ago. The team in the western Spain region of Extremadura is in contention for promotion to the second division. Brentford is owned by Matthew Benham, a former hedge fund manager who developed statistical models for betting on soccer, and has built a reputation as a smartly run, data-driven club that rose into the Premier League in 2021. Benham previously owned Danish club Midtjylland in an early example of multi-club ownership networks that have rapidly expanded in the soccer industry, but he sold his majority share in 2023. ___ AP soccer:
