Kolkata: Both Kolkata Police and Bengal Police have received around 20 complaints about inflammatory posts on social media following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Sources said at least seven of them are in the process of being turned into FIRs after consultation with their respective legal cells. At least two organisations, one associated with the Matua community and another formed during the RG Kar protests, lodged complaints about a particular "offensive" clip. Another part we are monitoring is the use of provocative language to trigger fear and division during a sensitive time," said an officer. Cops said fake accounts of reputable news outlets were being created to spread unverified claims, sometimes using AI.
