Texas baseball vs Oklahoma game score: Replay, highlights as Longhorns claim SEC crown

Max Belyeu returned to the Texas baseball team's lineup in time to lead the Longhorns to a conference championship. Belyeu's three-run homer in the ninth inning was the difference in Texas' 7-4 win at Oklahoma on Thursday night. With the victory at L. Dale Mitchell Park, Texas secured a share of the Southeastern Conference championship in its first year in the league. Advertisement Ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, Texas is now 41-10 this season with a 21-7 mark in SEC play. Losers of five of their last six conference games, Texas rallied from 1-0 and 3-1 deficits during Thursday's series opener in Norman. After the Sooners climbed themselves out of a 4-3 hole in the eighth inning, UT got its first two runners aboard against Oklahoma reliever Dylan Crooks in the final frame. That brought up Belyeu, who had gone hitless with three strikeouts in his first four-at bats. On the first pitch he saw from Crooks, Belyeu homered to center field. The 2024 Big 12 Player of the Year, Belyeu had missed UT's previous 26 games with a thumb injury. Belyeu was listed as a game-time decision in the lead-up to Thursday's first pitch, but Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle had hinted at the outfielder's return during this series as the Longhorns prepare for the postseason. Here's how Horns are adjusting With two games left in the regular season, Texas and Oklahoma (32-18, 13-15) will return to L. Dale Mitchell Park on Friday evening. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Texas Longhorns infielder Adrian Rodriguez (24) celebrates a hit for a single with assistant coach Michael Cantu during the game against Florida at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Austin. Texas vs Oklahoma baseball: Live updates Final: Texas 7, Oklahoma 4 Oklahoma got a runner aboard with one out in the ninth inning, but Dylan Volantis struck out two Sooners to end the game. With the win, Texas secured at least a share of the SEC championship. If Arkansas loses to Tennessee tonight, the Longhorns will be the league's outright champion. The Razorbacks were losing 7-3 in the eighth inning when the Texas game wrapped up. Mid 9: Texas 7, Oklahoma 4 A three-run home run off Max Belyeu's bat in the ninth inning has pulled Texas within three outs of an SEC championship. The three-run blast against Oklahoma closer Dylan Crooks gave Belyeu his first homer since March 28. Belyeu, the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, had missed UT's last 26 games with a thumb injury. He had opened tonight's game with an 0-for-4 showing at the plate and three strikeouts. Belyeu's homer drove in teammates Tommy Farmer IV and Ethan Mendoza. Farmer reached base with a leadoff double, and the No. 9 batter in the UT batting order is now 3-for-4 tonight with two RBIs and two runs. End 8: Texas 4, Oklahoma 4 For just the second time this season, Dylan Volantis has blown a late-inning save opportunity. After the freshman reliever got into trouble by walking Easton Carmichael and hitting Sam Christiansen with a pitch, Volantis surrendered the lead when he gave up an RBI single to Oklahoma clean-up hitter Jaxon Willits. Advertisement Will Gasparino made a sliding catch in center field to end the inning and strand an Oklahoma runner at third base. Mid 8: Texas 4, Oklahoma 3 Texas claimed its first lead of the evening when Kimble Schuessler drove in Rylan Galvan with an RBI single in the eighth inning. The Longhorns later had a chance to add some insurance in the frame, but Adrian Rodriguez was stranded after reaching third base with one out. Since it has claimed a lead, Texas will turn to closer Dylan Volantis in the eighth inning. A freshman, Volantis has saved 12 games this season. Volantis has recorded more than three outs in eight of his saves. End 7: Texas 3, Oklahoma 3 In his first inning of the evening, Texas reliever Thomas Burns retired the Sooners in order. Burns entered the day with a 4.58 ERA. Mid 7: Texas 3, Oklahoma 3 During an inning that featured two pitching changes, Texas tied the game on Tommy Farmer IV's two-run single. Farmer also scored UT's other run tonight in the third inning. Oklahoma starter Kyson Witherspoon's day ended during the seventh inning. Witherspoon allowed five hits and two earned runs, and he also struck out eight Longhorns. He threw 107 pitches over 6 ⅓ innings. Advertisement In the bottom of the seventh inning, Thomas Burns will replace Grayson Saunier on the mound for Texas. End 6: Oklahoma 3, Texas 1 For just the second time tonight, the Sooners were retired in order in the sixth inning. Through 3 ⅓ innings, Texas reliever Grayson Saunier has allowed one hit and registered three strikeouts. Texas has had its last eight batters retired by Oklahoma starter Kyson Witherspoon. End 5: Oklahoma 3, Texas 1 Oklahoma added to its lead in the fifth inning when Easton Carmichael's two-out double brought home teammate Dawson Willis. Two of Oklahoma's runs have been scored with two outs in an inning. Mid 4: Oklahoma 2, Texas 1 During an inning that was temporarily delayed by a rabbit running around the field at L. Dale Mitchell Park, Texas was unable to cash in on a game-tying opportunity. Texas got a runner to third base with two outs, but Oklahoma ace Kyson Witherspoon struck out Casey Borba to end the threat. Advertisement Through four innings, Witherspoon has struck out six Longhorns. End 3: Oklahoma 2, Texas 1 On the first pitch of the third inning's bottom half, Oklahoma reclaimed the lead on Trey Gambill's solo home run. Gambill has scored both of the Sooners' runs so far. In the third inning, Texas made its first pitching change as Grayson Saunier replaced Kade Bing on the mound. Over 2 ⅔ innings, Bing allowed three hits and one walk. He also hit a batter. Mid 3: Texas 1, Oklahoma 1 A slip-up by the Sooners has allowed Texas to tie the game. With two outs in the third inning, Texas had runners on the corners. Ethan Mendoza took off from first base in an attempt to let Tommy Farmer IV sneak home from third base before the final out was recorded. Oklahoma caught Mendoza in a rundown, but it threw away the baseball during the sequence. That error by Oklahoma first baseman Mason Hamlin allowed Farmer to score. End 2: Oklahoma 1, Texas 0 Both Texas and Oklahoma got a two-out runner to first base in the second inning, but that was all of the session's action. Kimble Schuessler provided Texas with its first hit of the evening when he singled off of Kyson Witherspoon. Mason Hamlin also drew a walk for the Sooners in the inning. End 1: Oklahoma 1, Texas 0 Texas has fallen behind early after two pitches got away from starting pitcher Kade Bing in the first inning. To open the first inning's bottom half, Bing hit Oklahoma leadoff hitter Trey Gambill with a full-count pitch. After a two-out single moved Gambill to third base, the Sooner outfielder scored on a wild pitch by Bing. Advertisement This is the 10th start of Bing's sophomore season. The left-handed transfer from McLennan College began the year as UT's Sunday starter, but he was demoted after compiling a 6.23 ERA over three subpar outings. Bing has since performed admirably in the Longhorns' midweek games, most notably when he threw five innings of perfect relief against UTSA on March 18 and when he didn't allow a hit over a 6 ⅓-inning start against Texas State on April 1. This is Bing's SEC debut. Mid 1: Texas 0, Oklahoma 0 In his return to the Longhorns after a 26-game absence, Texas star Max Beyleu struck out swinging against Oklahoma starting pitcher Kyson Witherspoon. The SEC co-leader in wins, Witherspoon retired the Longhorns in order in the first inning. Advertisement Witherspoon is currently listed as the No. 10 talent on ESPN's rankings of the top 150 prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft class. has evaluated Witherspoon as the eighth-best prospect in the Class of 2025. Week 7 SEC baseball power rankings: Where LSU sits after weekend sweep

Week 7 SEC baseball power rankings: Where LSU sits after weekend sweep We are in week seven of the college baseball season and we have made it through another week of conference games. The best series of the weekend was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as the Crimson Tide won a series against Oklahoma. Finally, Florida and Texas A&M were able to get a win in conference play but they were still unable to win their respective series. For now, they remain in the cellar of the SEC power rankings. The Georgia Bulldogs had quite an impressive outing against Auburn last weekend as they swept the Tigers and asserted their dominance at the plate. A few more sweeps that happened this weekend, Tennessee swept South Carolina, Arkansas swept Vanderbilt, LSU swept Mississippi State, and Texas swept Missouri. Here are your SEC baseball power rankings after three weeks of conference play. 1. Tennessee Volunteers Another week, another sweep for the Vols. Tennessee took a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to take on former LSU skipper Paul Mainieri, and they took all three games from the Gamecocks. Tennessee is now 26-2 and 8-1 in conference play. They are very likely to be 11-1 after this weekend as they take on Texas A&M. 2. Georgia Bulldogs The Georgia Bulldogs are 28-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play after sweeping the Auburn Tigers in Athens last weekend. In the final game, it took extra innings to get the job done but the Dawg bats were up to the task. Georgia scored 20 runs between game two and game three to beat the Tigers. The Dawgs travel to Austin this weekend to take on the Texas Longhorns in what should be a great series. The Arkansas Razorbacks are 26-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. They swept the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville last weekend. It was an impressive showing once again for Arkansas as their offense scored 22 runs in three games against Vandy. The Hogs take on the worst team in the conference this weekend, Missouri. 4. Texas Longhorns Texas had another great weekend in the SEC as they swept Missouri. The Longhorns are 23-3 and 8-1 in conference play. Unfortunately, Texas was struck by the awful news that their All-American outfielder, Max Belyeu, will miss the rest of the regular season with a fractured thumb. He was hitting .358 with six homers and 22 RBI so far this year. LSU fought the Bulldogs and the rain as they swept Mississippi State at Alex Box Stadium last weekend. LSU is now 26-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The Tigers will travel to Norman, Oklahoma to take on a good Sooners team this weekend. LSU is now 26-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The Alabama vs Oklahoma series last weekend was incredible. Two teams with similar colors laid it all on the line and the Tide was able to take Game One and Game Three to take the series. This series win moved Alabama into the Top 10 in every college baseball ranking. This weekend the Tide head to the Plains for the Iron Bowl of Baseball against Auburn. Bama is now 25-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. 7. Ole Miss Rebels Hello there Ole Miss. The Rebels made the biggest jump in the Power Rankings this week as they took two out of three games from the Florida Gators. They improved to 21-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Rebels will hit the road this weekend to take on Kentucky. 8. Oklahoma Sooners As I mentioned earlier, the Sooners matchup against Alabama last weekend was an incredible series. Even though Oklahoma came away with the short end of the stick, they put on an impressive showing. Due to that, the Sooners still find themselves in the Top eight of the SEC standings. The Sooners are 22-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play. 9. Auburn Tigers It was a rough weekend for the Auburn Tigers as they got swept by Georgia in Athens. The Tigers had their chances to come away with at least one win but the Bulldog bats just kept raking. The Tigers take on a hot Alabama team this weekend at Plainsman Park. Auburn is 20-8 overall and 4-5 in conference play. 10. Vanderbilt Commodores Remember what I said last week about not being sold on the Commodores yet? They did not help their case after Arkansas swept them in Nashville last weekend. The Commodores are 20-8 overall and 4-5 in conference play. This weekend they travel to Florida to take on a Gators team that has been plagued by injuries. 11. Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky is 17-9 and 4-5 in conference play after winning the series against Texas A&M last weekend in College Station. The Wildcats fell in their midweek game against Xavier before taking the series against A&M. This weekend, they will be back home as they take on Ole Miss. 12. Florida Gators Finally, the Gators got a win in conference play as they took the final game against Ole Miss. In Game Two against Ole Miss the Gators actually hit a grand slam to take the lead in the top of the ninth inning but they blew that lead and blew the series by allowing the Rebels to come back and win that game. Florida is now 19-11 overall and 1-8 in conference play. 13. South Carolina Gamecocks The Gamecocks are on a downhill slide as they have lost seven games in a row. They were swept by Arkansas, then lost to North Carolina in their midweek game, and then they got swept by Tennessee last weekend. South Carolina is now 17-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play. They will travel to Starkvegas to take on a Mississippi State team that needs a win. Speaking of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, they traveled to Baton Rouge and got swept away by the rain and by the LSU Tigers. The Bulldogs are now 16-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play. They will fight against the Gamecocks this weekend as they try to climb the power rankings. Like Florida, Texas A&M finally got a win in conference play as they took game one against Kentucky before eventually losing the series. The Aggies are now 13-14 overall and 1-8 in conference play. Their schedule does not get any easier as they take on No. 1 Tennessee this weekend. 16. Missouri Tigers Missouri is now the only team in the SEC without a conference win. The Tigers are 9-17 overall and 0-9 in conference play. Anything that can go wrong, has gone wrong for Missouri in 2025.

Questions surround severity of thumb injury to Texas' OF Max Belyeu

Questions surround severity of thumb injury to Texas' OF Max Belyeu Though reports indicated Belyeu was done for the season, this is not the case. Texas junior outfielder Max Belyeu is officially listed as "week-to-week" with a thumb injury that will require surgery, according to the Longhorns baseball team release. Belyeu, a projected top prospect in the upcoming MLB Draft, suffered the injury during Friday night's series opener against Missouri. The Longhorns remain hopeful he can return in time for the NCAA Tournament, if not sooner. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right fielder was in the midst of a breakout season prior to the injury. In 24 games, Belyeu slashed .358/.465/.642 with six home runs, seven doubles, a triple, 22 RBIs, 24 strikeouts and 16 walks — all career-best paces for the left-handed hitter. Known for his above-average pull-side power, refined bat-to-ball skills and a plus arm, Belyeu had been gaining traction as a potential first-round pick in the MLB draft. Despite early speculation that the injury could sideline him for the remainder of the season, Texas officials have stated his status is being evaluated weekly. But the fact it needs surgery brings in the real possibility that his season is over. The program will provide updates on SEC injury reports moving forward.
